Zhua finally arrived in front of the Academy of the Awakened.
Before him stood the academy’s massive gates, which were wide open.
Zhua registered with the staff in charge of admissions, who assigned him two guards.
The two guards led him toward the right wing of the academy, where he entered a sort of gymnasium filled with many people.
Zhua looked around and saw Han Luen accompanied by a young man with long, pale blond hair that cascaded down to his shoulders, amber eyes, porcelain-like fair skin, and a classic outfit. He had proud and exquisite features.
Han Luen noticed him and hurried over, dragging the young man along.
“Sorry, Zhua. I just had some business with my idiot of a brother. Introduce yourself, it’s the least you can do,” Han Luen said in a compassionate yet slightly authoritative tone as she reached Zhua.
Zhua turned his head, looked at the young man, and extended his hand.
“I am Zhua Rengui. So you’re her little brother,” he said in a slightly threatening yet warm tone.
The young man accepted Zhua’s handshake and smiled an enigmatic yet warm smile.
“My name is Han Zuen. Sorry again for the trouble. She had to leave suddenly because of me.”
Han Luen let go of his hand.
After exchanging a few pleasantries, Han Zuen left.
Han Luen turned toward Zhua and said,
“Like I told you, this kid is turbulent by nature. He was supposed to become the priest of the church of my faith, but he caused so much trouble that they called him the ‘Half-Mad Priest.’ My father eventually gave up on the idea of making him a priest. Deep down, he actually liked it.”
Zhua looked at her and said in a mischievous tone,
“Isn’t it because he was deliberately acting turbulent so he wouldn’t become a priest? Because he hated it?”
Han Luen froze for a moment and replied,
“No comment.”
Zhua laughed lightly and said, “Okay, okay!” in a mischievous tone.
After a few more words, the two separated.
Zhua looked ahead and saw the Headmaster of the Academy of the Awakened: a man with short gray hair, deep black eyes, pale skin, a slender yet well-defined muscular build, wearing the academy professors’ uniform.
He was the great Headmaster of the Academy of the Awakened, bearing the title of King Mage.
He had recently reached the rank of Demi-God.
One could consider him “young” among those who had attained Demi-God status.
It was no easy feat to reach the rank of Demi-God, even if he had obtained it through the Tower.
His title of King Mage was somewhat exaggerated, many people could bear that title.
After all, anyone with ten martial stars was called a King, and the “Mage” part came from his powers being specialized in magic, especially since he had touched divinity or rather, half of it.
Zhua didn’t really care.
All that mattered to him right now was passing the test.
Sanuen Aron scanned every student inside or rather, every potential student and said,
“Welcome to the renowned Xiaomi Academy. Today we have many new potential students. Some will fail, others will not. But remember this: all those who pass the test, regardless of their social rank, origin, or anything else, will be protected by Xiaomi Academy. And if anyone tries to harm you, I, the King Mage, the nascent Demi-God, will protect you!”
Zhua studied him.
Sanuen Aron’s speech was neither false nor filled with lies.
However, this protection only applied to actual students of Xiaomi Academy, not to potential students.
That was the nuance.
It was precisely why so many deaths were lamented during each entrance test.
Some might see cruelty or malice on the director’s part, but who would dare challenge a Demi-God unless they were a Demi-God themselves or higher?
And those above the Demi-God rank were extremely rare.
They didn’t appear every day.
Even with the thought of possibly dying, Zhua felt neither panic nor fear.
He felt confident about his victory.
The Headmaster said in a serene voice,
“The entrance test will consist of facing another potential student, regardless of their rank or state of existence. Your goal is not to win, but to prove your worth during your fight against your opponent in front of the jury.”
“In short, you have to win,” Zhua thought, and most of the potential students quickly reached the same conclusion.
Zhua felt the director looking at him, along with several other potential students and even some jury members.
“What’s up with all of them?”
Then Zhua reached his conclusion: he had apparently become popular after his victory against the Goliath.
Many people must fear him because of his “slight” episode of madness.
“Hmmph, how annoying. I wanted to stay somewhat discreet. I should choose someone weak.”
Suddenly, several people stepped aside as someone came running like a little fury and jumped on Zhua, grabbing him by the shoulders.
Zhua nearly lost his balance as he heard an excited voice say, “Hey, fight me, you lunatic!!” This story is hosted at g.com.
Zhua turned around and saw Quariea Aucelia.
Her blue and violet eyes were shining with excitement.
“Seriously, why her of all possible opponents? Why her!!” he thought furiously.
Quariea grabbed Zhua by the shoulders and started shaking him.
“Accept! Accept, please!!!”
“Stop shaking me, you crazy person! I’m going to throw up!”
Quariea stopped and said, “Sorry, sorry! I just want to fight you. I heard what you did to that fucking Goliath. So let me fight you. I want to annihilate you!”
Zhua let out a contemptuous and amused laugh.
“You really think you can beat me? It’s me who’s going to annihilate you. I accept your shitty challenge, you maniac.”
Among the crowd, Han Zuen was walking around when he spotted a young girl with black hair, black eyes, and pale skin, wearing a classic black dress with a katana at her waist.
“Those eyes and hair… Could she be a member of the Oneria clan? The famous clan known for their deadly arts.”
Han Zuen laughed lightly and approached her gently.
“Hey, do you want to fight me?”
“Okay, if you want,” she replied simply.
Her voice was flat and almost lazy.
In another place, a man with mid-length reddish-brown hair, orange eyes, dark skin, a powerful build, and impressive musculature walked forward.
He was a demi-giant, recognizable by the mark of the Giant clan on his neck.
He approached a young girl with pale blue hair, white eyes, pale skin, delicate, unpronounced, and cold features.
Her nose was flat .
She wore a simple black martial arts outfit.
The demi-giant said, “Do you want to fight me?”
The girl raised her hand and looked at him with her emotionless expression.
“If you want it so badly, but don’t be mad if you lose a member in the process.”
She said it without any arrogance or exaggeration.
A young man with short dark hair, yellow eyes, a pronounced nose, exquisite and handsome features, fair skin, and fine, elegant hands, wearing a simple chic suit in dark and blue tones, approached a young woman with light yellow hair, yellow eyes, fair skin, and noble, pronounced features.
She wore a classic and elegant white dress.
The young man said, “I am Euran. You are the princess of the Sun Kingdom, right? Your name is Omneda. Do you want to fight?”
