Zhua and Quariea entered the arena that the academy had prepared for the fights.
The administrators gave each of them a blade they had chosen.
Zhua took a weapon whose blade was white and flat, curving toward the end with a sharp point.
Zhua gripped the handle of his blade tightly.
Quariea had chosen the same type of weapon as him.
The two were separated by a few meters, staring at each other intently as they prepared for the fight.
“What rank is she?” This was Zhua’s first thought about Quariea.
“What is her power?”
Zhua thought for two or four seconds.
Quariea had never challenged the Tower, or at least nothing had been said about it.
Her father would have taken measures to have guards train with her, and besides, someone would have noticed her disappearance or a rumor would have circulated.
“She is at the Awakened rank.” This conclusion finally came to Zhua’s mind.
Quariea’s power or powers were unknown to the public.
“Does she think I am an Awakened or a Semi-Awakened?” This was Zhua’s biggest question.
He had to play on Quariea’s perceptions of him, but nothing ruled out the possibility that Quariea was only a Semi-Awakened.
Maybe she had experienced the same phenomenon as him not the monster thing, but the fact of getting gravely injured and being transported to a historical dungeon following her explosive temperament.
The duke could have hidden what happened, especially if Quariea had returned quickly and time had only been distorted inside the mini-dungeon, or not at all.
Zhua could not kill her because of her father.
Attracting the fury of the duke was not part of his plan.
He had to win without killing her.
At least for now he was a nameless rat, but not anymore!
He had received a true title the Honored and the Fallen one !
This name would spread throughout the world!
He was confident and arrogant about this idea!
Zhua stared at Quariea, an amused smile on his lips, gripping his own blade tightly.
“She is completely crazy,” he thought coldly.
“Start!”
The two of them said at the same time.
Zhua ran across the tiles of the arena.
His fingers gripped the handle of the blade as he felt his soul liquefy and flow down toward his arm.
The strange golden substance in his dao that represented his hunger stirred.
But Zhua did not cover his blade with his Will.
He wanted to keep it as a trump card in his sleeve in case the fight went badly or if at some point Zhua had to fight another student in the future.
Quariea smiled in a cold and excited way, her eyes shining dangerously.
Their two blades met.
Bam!
The shockwave was big but not enough to destroy everything around them.
Zhua was actually very restricted: first, he could not kill Quariea; second, he could not use his Will from his dao; and third, he could not use his flames of greed for very obvious reasons.
For the second case, it was because he still could not properly control his Will, which increased the risk of killing Quariea if her Will was weaker or if she had none at all ,which would have been ironic and truly cruel on the part of destiny.
In fact, she surely had a Will, but not necessarily a dao, because one needed a burning and ardent desire to create one, regardless of rank.
Without that ardent and burning desire, it was impossible to create a dao.
Although with her desire to fight, it was not impossible, but at the same time, one should not rule out the possibility that she might not have one.
They separated.
Zhua charged at her, moving his other hand behind him to create 3 mini stars in preparation.
Quariea noticed them and froze slightly.
“What is that?”
This was the first question that came to her mind, but she could not answer it.
Zhua fired his stars like rifle bullets, but the stars missed Quariea, not even grazing her.
“What? I aimed properly, I’m sure of it. Is it her power or her Will?” Zhua’s mind accelerated.
Zhua delivered a diagonal slash that did not touch Quariea, as if his blow had been deflected.
“Did she deflect it? No, I aimed correctly, I’m sure?”
Zhua became enraged but forced himself to calm down.
Quariea attacked toward Zhua’s shoulder, piercing it, but she failed to sever his arm or cut through any of his bones.
Zhua gritted his teeth and gave her a kick in the stomach, forcing her to retreat.
Zhua touched his wound, smiling slightly.
“She can hit me or slash me all she wants, but she will never be able to sever a limb or even scratch one of his bones simply because they are made of stars. That’s pretty convenient.”
This thought made him somewhat delighted.
He was going to gain a lot of time, enough to figure out what Quariea’s ability was, at least before he lost too much blood.
Quariea wiped the blood from her mouth caused by Zhua’s kick.
She charged at him at full speed, brandishing her weapon, ready to strike and kill Zhua.
Zhua created his three mini stars on three of his fingers, gripping his sword tightly.
Exhaling slowly, Zhua relaxed and charged toward Quariea as well.
He had to win without killing her, but if his life was too threatened or if he had no other choice, then he would kill her without mercy.
