The school bell rang at that moment.
Students who had been watching the drama all returned to their classrooms.
But after today’s “battle,” Yang Mian had already become famous throughout the senior year.
The homeroom teacher, Xiao Yangshuo, walked into the classroom holding his textbook.
Class 13 was as quiet as the deep sea. The silence was so extreme that even the faint sound of a needle dropping would have been clearly audible. Such unusual stillness was both surprising and hard to adjust to.
In the past, this place had been like a noisy marketplace—filled with chatter and laughter that never stopped. But now, it felt as if some spell had been cast over it, sinking everything into deep silence.
Fortunately, during this class, Yang Mian did not drop any more “bombshells.”
So Xiao Yangshuo was able to teach without distraction.
He stood tall on the podium, his voice steady and clear as it echoed through the classroom while he explained the lesson content.
Though everything seemed calm on the surface, Xiao Yangshuo was far from relaxed.
His gaze, as if pulled by invisible threads, kept drifting toward Yang Mian’s seat from time to time.
He silently prayed that nothing would go wrong in his lecture.
He always had the feeling that Yang Mian could see through everyone’s thoughts.
To his relief, the entire class period passed with Yang Mian behaving as if she were a completely different person. She sat quietly the entire time, focused on the blackboard with a serious and thoughtful expression—like an obedient, model student. She did not interrupt, question, or challenge anything.
Looking at the rest of the class, Class 13—usually noisy and chaotic—was now a shocking sight.
All the students were actually taking notes.
Each of them was bent over their desks, writing seriously and diligently, as if they had completely separated themselves from their usual troublemaking selves.
Pens moved quickly across paper, recording key points, as if afraid to miss even a single detail.
When the principal was walking around the campus and happened to pass by Class 13, he was instantly frozen in place by what he saw.
His eyes widened in disbelief, his mouth hanging open as if it could fit an egg inside.
He looked as though he had witnessed the most unbelievable thing in the world.
The teachers following behind him were equally stunned, exchanging glances, their shock clearly written on their faces.
One of them rubbed his eyes unconsciously, as if refusing to believe what he was seeing.
He muttered doubtfully:
“Is… is this really Class 13? It feels like I walked into the wrong classroom.”
Another teacher shook his head helplessly and said with a bitter smile:
“Class 13 students actually taking notes seriously… Did I leave the house wrong this morning? Did I accidentally bump into some kind of evil spirit or something?”
Their reaction was not unreasonable.
After all, Class 13 was the worst-performing class in the entire senior year—infamously known as the “problem class.”
Most of its students were unruly troublemakers, full of spikes like hedgehogs, difficult to approach or control.
They often disrupted class, showed no interest in studying, and gave teachers endless headaches with little to no improvement.
Yet now, these same students—once impossible to manage—were showing unprecedented focus and effort. It was no wonder everyone was shocked.
Looking at the classroom, the principal felt a sense of relief and said:
“Xiao Yangshuo’s management ability is quite good. The students in Class 13 are starting to change under his guidance. This month’s Best Teacher should go to Xiao Yangshuo.”
However, as soon as he finished speaking, someone raised an objection.
“Principal, isn’t this decision a bit hasty?”
It was the dean of discipline, Li Ziniang, with a hint of dissatisfaction and doubt on her face.
She was also the homeroom teacher of Class 1, and she looked down on Class 13’s students the most.
Naturally, she also disdained their homeroom teacher.
In truth, there was competition among teachers as well. Being selected as Best Teacher not only meant generous rewards, but also brought great honor in one’s teaching career.
It was a highly coveted title, and many teachers took it very seriously.
“Yes, Principal, this evaluation is too rushed.”
Teacher Mu Chenyang from Class 2 spoke sharply, his tone full of contempt for Xiao Yangshuo.
In his eyes, Class 13 was a hopeless mess, and Xiao Yangshuo was nothing more than an inexperienced fresh graduate who didn’t deserve to be compared with senior teachers like them.
Class 13 had always been the worst class in the school—so bad that no experienced teacher wanted it, which was why it had been assigned to a new graduate like Xiao Yangshuo.
The principal frowned slightly, but replied calmly:
“I understand your concerns, but you’ve also seen the changes in Class 13.”
“This is not a coincidence. Although Xiao Yangshuo is young and inexperienced, the fact that he can bring such transformation in such a short time proves his ability and dedication.”
Mu Chenyang still wanted to argue, but an older teacher beside him gently tugged his sleeve, signaling him to stop.
The older teacher said softly:
“Let’s observe for now. This young man does have spirit, and he has indeed brought a different atmosphere to Class 13.”
Inside the classroom, the lesson ended.
The students stood up and applauded. The applause was more enthusiastic and sincere than ever before.
These usually mischievous “brats” clapping so seriously almost brought tears to Xiao Yangshuo’s eyes.
This was his first class, and the beginning of his teaching career. Since becoming a teacher, he had never experienced such warmth from students—it was the first time he truly felt their respect and affection.
He knew in his heart that all these changes were thanks to the transfer student who had arrived today—Yang Mian.
In truth, these children were not inherently bad. They simply lacked the right guide.
Xiao Yangshuo firmly believed that if Yang Mian could become their leader, every student in Class 13 would grow into outstanding individuals.
