Sunlight bathed the streets as Yang Mian walked leisurely toward Ling City High School.
This school was the new destination Yang Wencheng had carefully arranged for her after she was brought back into the Yang family.
Previously, she had attended an ordinary high school. But with her change in status, her educational path had changed as well.
Yang Wencheng felt that it would be embarrassing if his biological daughter continued studying at a regular school, so he did not hesitate to transfer her into Ling City High School.
From the original owner’s memories, Yang Mian knew she had been assigned to Class Thirteen.
However, due to a series of complicated circumstances, she had never actually attended classes there.
Today was her first day reporting to school.
A brand-new chapter of life was about to begin in this unfamiliar campus.
The moment she stepped into the classroom, a wave of noise crashed into her ears.
Sure enough.
This really was the legendary worst class in the entire senior year.
There were only thirty students in the class, yet every single one of them looked like cannon fodder destined to die on some battlefield.
It was already their crucial third year of high school, yet these students were completely lazy and undisciplined.
Some girls were carefully applying lipstick and eyeshadow using small mirrors, as though the classroom were their personal makeup studio.
Others were staring at their phones, fingers constantly swiping across the screens, completely immersed in their virtual worlds.
Some were happily munching on snacks, paying no attention whatsoever to their surroundings.
“Quiet down, everyone! Today our class is welcoming a new student—Yang Mian. Let’s give her a round of applause!”
The homeroom teacher shouted at the top of his lungs.
The response was complete silence.
Someone even let out a dismissive “Tch.”
Clearly, nobody cared about the arrival of a new classmate.
The teacher looked rather embarrassed.
Truthfully, he knew these students were the school’s most notorious troublemakers.
There was very little he could do to control them.
Helpless, he turned to Yang Mian.
“Why don’t you pick any seat you like and sit down?”
Yang Mian nodded.
“Okay, Teacher.”
She was a student now.
Students should act like students.
She might as well give the teacher some face.
Besides, she was curious to see how people in this world studied.
The classroom remained noisy, voices overlapping one another.
On the surface, Yang Mian appeared obedient and indifferent.
But inwardly, her thoughts wandered.
[Tsk, tsk, tsk. The entire class is shrouded in dark clouds. Every single one of them is short-lived. Not one will survive more than two years. How tragic.]
A faint trace of pity flashed through her eyes.
To her, these people looked like insects whose fates had already been written in the Book of Destiny.
She was merely an outsider watching their predetermined endings unfold.
Meanwhile, every student in the class heard her inner voice.
The atmosphere instantly became strange.
The whole class is short-lived?
Is she talking about us?
“Damn it! Who’s insulting me?!”
Suddenly, the class troublemaker Mo Xingchen shot to his feet.
His already wild hair seemed ready to burst into flames from sheer rage.
His sharp gaze swept across the classroom like blades, trying to identify the culprit.
Eventually, his eyes landed on Yang Mian.
“Was it you?”
Yang Mian didn’t even raise her eyelids.
She merely glanced at him and replied coolly,
“Did I say anything? Which ear heard me speaking? If your hearing is broken, go get it treated.”
Yang Mian was not someone who endured things quietly.
If she was annoyed, she would fire back immediately.
The entire class burst into laughter.
“Hahahaha!”
Seeing Mo Xingchen get shut down was simply too entertaining.
The laughter echoed throughout the room.
To Mo Xingchen, it felt like a slap to the face.
He felt completely humiliated.
Instantly, anger overwhelmed his reason.
He reached out to hit her.
In his world, there was no such thing as not hitting girls.
Anyone who provoked him would pay the price.
However, Yang Mian seemed to have anticipated his move.
She casually stepped back.
Because he had used too much force, Mo Xingchen missed entirely.
His body lurched forward and he crashed face-first onto the floor.
A perfect face-plant.
The classroom erupted into even louder laughter.
The noise nearly blew the roof off.
Looking down at him, Yang Mian said bluntly,
“Your baby teeth haven’t even fallen out yet, and you want to challenge me? You’re still too green.”
Her eyes brimmed with confidence and pride.
The word fear simply didn’t exist in her vocabulary.
At that moment, Xiao Yangshuo, who had been watching from the podium the entire time, finally spoke.
“Enough. Go back to your seat. Class is starting. What kind of behavior is this?”
His voice was filled with exhaustion.
Dealing with these rich second-generation heirs every day was enough to make his head explode.
These wealthy students relied on their families’ influence to do whatever they pleased.
As their homeroom teacher, he spent far more time cleaning up their messes than actually teaching.
Mo Xingchen climbed to his feet and glared viciously at Yang Mian.
Even with the teacher standing there, he openly threatened her.
“Don’t get cocky too soon.”
He sounded like an injured beast desperately trying to save face.
Yang Mian merely snorted and ignored him.
To her, he was nothing more than an insignificant clown.
Under Xiao Yangshuo’s efforts, the commotion finally died down.
At least on the surface.
But no one knew how many future conflicts were hidden beneath that fragile calm.
[This homeroom teacher really has it rough. Every day he has to deal with this bunch of spoiled rich kids, then clean up their messes afterward. Poor guy.]
The entire class was stunned.
Everyone looked at one another.
[What’s wrong with them? Why do they all look like they’ve seen a ghost? Such a fuss over nothing.]
Yang Mian casually found an empty seat and sat down.
Since this was the worst class in the entire grade and only had thirty students, there were plenty of empty desks.
[Why are they all staring at me? What’s there to look at? Do I have flowers growing on my face?]
She wondered inwardly.
Clatter.
Thunk.
Someone dropped a water bottle.
Someone else dropped a phone.
[What’s wrong with these people? They’re acting so weird.]
Then things became even stranger.
Someone sent a message in the class group chat:
[You all heard Yang Mian @#@# too, right?]
[Yes, yes, we all #@#.]
[Holy crap, this is too supernatural! Those words seem to be censored. It’s like something is preventing us from saying it.]
[Exactly! I can’t type it either. But you all know what I mean, right?]
[Got it.]
[Got it.]
[Got it.]
