After saying that, the woman tightened her grip on the baby in her arms.

Liu Qingyue acted as if she had been scolded and stopped paying attention.

Just then, Liu Wanwan returned after throwing something away. Seeing Liu Qingyue getting involved, she sneered,Full novel: The Military Man Wanted To Arrange A Marriage Exchange, But Then She Married His Superior Officer — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“I’m telling you, you’d better mind your own business. What if they blame you for something?”

“Mind your own business,” Liu Qingyue shot back coldly, then went back to her seat and sat down.

Liu Wanwan wanted to return to her own seat, but seeing the intimidating man nearby, she didn’t dare say anything. She lingered around awkwardly.

She thought about asking Liu Qingyue for help—but the moment Liu Qingyue sat down, she closed her eyes and pretended to sleep.

Liu Wanwan tried to call out, but before she could, another man from the front turned around angrily.

“Can you stop making noise? You’re really loud!”

One person complained, and soon others joined in.

“Go back to your seat already! You’re walking around and no one can sleep!”

“What’s a young girl doing wandering around like this? What if something happens to you?”

“It’s late—stop roaming around and sit down!”

After being scolded by several people, Liu Wanwan felt both embarrassed and upset. Gathering her courage, she spoke to the people blocking the way, asking to pass through.

They glanced at her briefly and moved aside.

Finally back in her seat, she let out a sigh of relief—but thinking about what just happened made her furious. She wished she could tear Liu Qingyue apart.

How could she just ignore her?!

After sitting for a while, Liu Wanwan started to feel sleepy.

But suddenly, a foul smell drifted over.

She looked up—and saw the man across from her had placed his feet up on the table.

His feet were only inches away from her face.

If she leaned forward even a little, they’d practically be in her mouth.

“You—!” Her eyes filled with tears, but it made no difference. The man rolled his eyes, closed them, and went to sleep without moving his feet.

She wanted to protest, but the moment she stood up, the man glared at her fiercely.

Startled, she quickly sat back down.

She glanced toward Liu Qingyue again—but she was still “asleep.”

Liu Wanwan was so angry she felt like exploding.

In reality, Liu Qingyue wasn’t asleep at all.

She had already guessed this would happen the moment Liu Wanwan complained about the smelly feet earlier—so she deliberately pretended to sleep.

After resting for a while, and once most people in the train had fallen asleep, Liu Qingyue got up and headed to the restroom.

For the third time, she saw the middle-aged couple with the baby.

She lingered inside the restroom for a moment. The couple stood just outside, whispering to each other in low voices.

The moment she opened the door, they stopped talking.

Liu Qingyue narrowed her eyes, sensing something strange.

She casually walked closer and noticed—

They weren’t carrying any bags.

Traveling with a baby but no luggage? No bulky belongings at all?

That didn’t make sense.

Could they… actually be human traffickers?

Were they wary of her earlier because they thought she might interfere?

The thought suddenly crossed her mind—

And it sent a chill down her spine.

“What are you staring at? Haven’t you ever seen this before?”

The middle-aged woman snapped at Liu Qingyue again.

Liu Qingyue felt a growing sense of suspicion. Instead of returning to her seat, she turned and walked straight toward the front carriage.

She had seen these couple three times already—and the baby had never once woken up.

Something wasn’t right.

She began to suspect they might be human traffickers, and decided this needed to be reported.

In the front carriage, the conductor and several railway police officers were stationed.

As soon as Liu Qingyue approached, one of the officers asked, “Is something wrong?”

“I suspect there’s a middle-aged couple back there who might be child traffickers,” she said.

She explained her observations—how the baby had been asleep every single time she saw them, which seemed highly unusual.

The conductor and officers immediately frowned.

“There have been a lot of traffickers moving around recently, especially on trains. We’ve already checked once—we didn’t expect any to slip through,” the conductor said.

She then looked at Liu Qingyue. “Thank you for reporting this. We’ll handle it right away. Don’t alert them—just go back to your seat.”

“Okay.”

Liu Qingyue nodded and returned.

Not long after, the train staff alerted the authorities.

About thirty minutes later, the train stopped at the next station.

It would be a 15-minute stop. Vendors outside were selling hot corn and sweet potatoes, and many passengers leaned out to buy food.

At that moment, several police officers boarded the train.

“We’re conducting a routine inspection. There have been reports of traffickers recently. Everyone, please show your identification!”

As soon as the officers entered, Liu Qingyue quietly moved toward the restroom area again.

The couple was there.

The moment they saw the police—and heard about the inspection—they panicked.

They quickly put the baby down on a seat and tried to run.

“They’re the traffickers!” Liu Qingyue shouted loudly.

The officers immediately reacted.

“They’re heading your way—stop them!” one officer called into his radio.

The police at the other end quickly intercepted the fleeing pair. The man even had one foot out of the train, trying to escape.

An officer grabbed him back just in time—right as the train started moving again.

Both suspects were restrained and handcuffed.

The police then picked up the baby left behind.

The child was still breathing—but wouldn’t wake up, no matter how they tried.

“They must have drugged the child,” Liu Qingyue said.

The officers glanced at her, surprised.

The conductor quickly explained, “She was the one who reported them and pointed out the suspicious behavior.”

Hearing this, one of the officers stepped forward, shook Liu Qingyue’s hand, and said with a smile:

“You were very brave and observant. Thanks to you, we were able to save this child.”

“I just happened to notice something strange,” Liu Qingyue replied calmly. “I saw them several times, and the baby was always asleep. I just followed my instincts. I’m glad I wasn’t wrong.”

At that moment, the couple was brought back under control.

When they realized Liu Qingyue had reported them, their faces twisted with anger.

“You little brat! Got a big mouth, huh?”

“What business is it of yours? It’s not your child! Why report us?!”

“Mind your own business! Someone like you shouldn’t even have kids!”

Their vicious shouting filled the carriage—but by then, it was too late.

They had already been caught.
