The first Shadow Guard charged.
"Fire!"
A storm of bullets struck its armored body, but the creature continued moving. Its claws scraped against the concrete as it rushed toward the soldiers.
"Defensive line!" Joseph ordered.
The front line raised their shields. The monster crashed into them with enough force to push several soldiers backward.
Destiny activated Tactical Analysis.

"Daniel! Target its right shoulder!"
Daniel's squad immediately changed formation.
Ethan released a powerful electric attack, forcing the monster to stagger. Brian followed with a concentrated burst of fire.
Kane extended his blood chains around the creature's legs.
"Now, Destiny!"
Destiny activated Soldier's Will.
His attributes surged as he rushed forward. He leaped onto the creature's back and drove his combat blade into the exposed energy core.
The Shadow Guard released a deafening scream before collapsing.
[DING!]
[Enemy Defeated.]

The remaining guards attacked together.
Destiny's soldiers fought in coordinated groups, using the training they had received at Wolf Fortress. Joseph's defense squad held the entrance while Daniel's assault squad attacked the monsters' weak points.
Naomi's scouts moved through the battlefield, marking enemy positions for the ranged soldiers.
Within twenty minutes, the last Shadow Guard fell.

Destiny approached the facility's entrance.
The doors opened after Isaac remotely activated the old security system.
Inside, they discovered rows of abandoned computers, broken research equipment and several sealed laboratories.
At the center of the main hall stood a large metal door.
A crown symbol had been carved into it.
"Sir," Naomi said quietly, "I think we've found what the Monster King was protecting."
Destiny placed his hand against the door.
The system immediately reacted.
[Unknown energy signature detected.]
[Military System synchronization initiated.]
[Warning: Unauthorized access may cause system instability.]
Destiny stepped back.
"Everyone, stay alert."
The door slowly opened.
Beyond it was a room filled with glowing blue crystals and a gigantic machine.
At the center of the machine floated a familiar symbol.
The Military System had begun to glow.
For the first time, Destiny felt that the system was afraid.
