Wolf Fortress was already under attack when Destiny's team returned.
A gigantic monster stood outside the defensive walls. Its body resembled a wolf, but it was covered in black scales and carried six glowing horns along its back.
Its roar shook the surrounding buildings.
[DING!]
[Enemy Detected: Abyssal Warbeast]
[Rank: B]
[Level: 35]
[Abilities: Shadow Claws, Regeneration, Fear Roar.]
[Warning: Enemy threat exceeds current commander combat rating.]
Destiny looked at the soldiers gathering behind the walls.
"All units, defensive positions!"
The monster opened its mouth and released a wave of dark energy.
The energy shield flickered violently.
[Energy Shield: 62%]
"Isaac, redirect power from the training facility to the shield!"
"Already doing it, sir!"
The Abyssal Warbeast charged.
Its claws struck the shield, creating a massive shock wave. Several soldiers fell to the ground, while cracks appeared along the outer wall.
Destiny activated Tactical Analysis.
[Weakness detected: Three energy nodes along the spine.]
[Secondary weakness: Regeneration slows when exposed to concentrated electrical energy.]
"Ethan! Target the nodes along its spine. Brian, provide covering fire!"
The soldiers opened fire.
The monster twisted its body, releasing dark spikes that struck the defensive wall. One section collapsed, allowing smaller monsters to rush into the fortress.
"Joseph, hold the breach!" Destiny shouted.
Joseph led his squad forward while Daniel's soldiers eliminated the creatures entering through the opening.
Destiny activated Soldier's Will and charged toward the Warbeast.
Kane's blood chains wrapped around one of its legs, slowing it for a moment.
"Now!" Kane shouted.
Ethan released a powerful electrical blast. The Warbeast screamed as the energy nodes along its spine began to crack.
Destiny leaped forward and struck the exposed node with his blade.
The monster staggered, but it did not fall.
Instead, it unleashed Fear Roar.
Several soldiers froze in terror.
Destiny gritted his teeth and activated Commander's Aura.
A powerful wave of confidence spread through his troops.
"Remember your training!" he shouted. "We stand together!"
The soldiers regained their courage.
The battle had only just begun.
