Qin Yunchuan froze.
Why wasn’t he reacting?
Mianmian anxiously shook his hand. “Big Brother, Kang… Doctor Kang!”
Was he really not understanding her?
Just as she prepared to remind him again, Qin Yunchuan couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Mianmian, not every ‘Kang’ is Doctor Kang. I know you’re worried about me, but there’s no way the divine doctor is here.”
That master had eluded countless noble families for decades. How could he be hiding in a small clinic like this?
Mianmian’s concern had made her flustered, but Qin Yunchuan appreciated her good intentions.
Mianmian, frustrated, didn’t know what to say. She glared at him angrily.
Doctor Kang was right here.
Without further explanation, Mianmian ran into the clinic, leaving Qin Yunchuan’s hand grasping at air.
Inside, no one seemed to be attending to patients.
Mianmian spotted an elderly man reading a book, with tea and snacks laid out before him. He looked utterly relaxed.
“Grandpa… I came to see you about my Big Brother.”
Mianmian climbed onto a chair, meeting the gaze of the old man—Master Kang. His eyes were gentle. “Little girl, where do you feel unwell?”
“It’s not me—it’s my Big Brother,” she corrected.
She turned to wave at Qin Yunchuan. Standing at the doorway, he realized it was too late to stop her.
He stepped inside. “Sir, sorry—my little sister is playful and interrupted you. I’ll take her away right now.”
“Not leaving! Big Brother… you let Grandpa take your pulse! I don’t want anything to happen to you!” Mianmian tugged at his sleeve. Against her cute, pleading persistence, Qin Yunchuan’s heart melted.
“The little girl cares about you. As her brother, you must set a good example and not avoid medical treatment,” Master Kang said.
“You’re right, sir. I’ve learned my lesson,” Qin Yuchuan replied, extending his wrist.
Ordinary doctors usually just prescribe medicine after taking a pulse—these would have little effect on him. Drinking them was mainly to appease Mianmian.
Mianmian crouched next to Master Kang. He felt the pulse, glancing at Qin Yunchuan with a hint of surprise that quickly disappeared.
Mianmian rested her chin on her hands, nervously asking, “Grandpa, can you cure my Big Brother?”
“Yes!”
Master Kang wrote a prescription and handed it to Qin Yunchuan. “Go to the back to get the medicine. One course lasts seven days—start with one course first.”
Qin Yunchuan’s mouth twitched slightly.
These so-called quacks… they don’t even ask about symptoms or the illness, yet they prescribe medicine?
He couldn’t let Mianmian be disappointed. Taking the prescription, he went to the back.
Mianmian whispered, “Grandpa, can the poison in my Big Brother really be cured?”
“Half,” he replied.
Half was still hope. Mianmian smiled again.
“Grandpa Kang is amazing! My Big Brother finally has a chance!”
Master Kang’s smile stiffened. He eyed Mianmian suspiciously. “Little girl, do you know me?”
“No, but I know you’re the famous Doctor Kang, right?”
“Shhh!”
Master Kang pointed to his lips, lowering his voice. “You’re Mianmian, right?”
“Yes!”
“You must keep it a secret—don’t let anyone outside know I’m here.”
“Why?”
Mianmian didn’t understand. A divine doctor’s reputation was powerful—respected, sought after, and welcomed by noble families.
Master Kang patted her head, his smile deep. “I’m old, and I don’t want trouble.”
“All right, I’ll keep it a secret,” Mianmian promised.
“You’re a good child,” he said.
“Grandpa Kang… you said there’s only a 50% chance of curing Big Brother. You’re a divine doctor—can’t you completely remove the poison?”
Master Kang’s expression grew serious. He had detected more than ten types of poison in Qin Yunchuan’s body, accumulated over more than a decade.
It was hard to imagine how he had survived all these years.
“To fully cure him requires four rare herbs. They are extremely precious… I fear you may not find them before your Big Brother passes.”
He gave hope, but tempered it with caution.
“Grandpa Kang, what are these herbs? I don’t want my Big Brother to die!”
The little girl’s concern for Qin Yunchuan was touching. Whether they could find the herbs was another matter—fate would decide.
“Skytears Stone, Silverheart Lotus, Nine-Joint Lingzhi, Bloodsoul Ginseng. None can be missing.”
Mianmian froze. Silverheart Lotus… she had possessed it before, though not when she traveled here. It was the main ingredient for her Clear-Heart Pill.
If Master Kang could name them, it proved these things truly existed in this world.
She would help Big Brother!
Mianmian promised Master Kang, she would find them. Qin Yunchuan returned from the back with the medicine. Mianmian ran to him. “Big Brother, we’re leaving—Grandpa Kang, goodbye!”
“Goodbye, Mianmian. Come by often,” he replied.
Qin Yunchuan almost stumbled at the threshold—come by often? Normally, healthy people disliked clinics and hospitals the most.
Mianmian tugged at him all the way, repeatedly instructing him to take the medicine properly.
His illness would get better.
Her care made Qin Yunchuan happy. The medicine couldn’t hurt, and his body was already in a fragile state anyway.
On the way home, Mianmian suddenly mentioned visiting Gu Xu. Qin Yunchuan murmured, “Do you really like Gu Xu?”
“I like him a little, but my favorite is still Big Brother. Gu Xu comes second,” she said.
“Good taste, my Mianmian,” Qin Yunchuan said, a faint pride in his expression.
Mianmian sighed. “Men… they’re always jealous. Such mischievous little fairies.”
Pfft!
Even the driver couldn’t help laughing—Miss Mianmian was truly… unique.
Qin Yunchuan wasn’t exactly innocent either. In Mianmian’s eyes, he had become the mischievous little fairy? Who taught her these words?
The car stopped outside Gu Xu’s clinic. She hopped out happily and dashed inside.
The bell rang as she opened the door.
“Welcome!”
“Fairy Sister… is Gu Xu here? I have something really important to tell him!”
Mianmian gestured wildly. The nurse couldn’t help smiling. The little girl was getting cuter and cuter.
“Little sister, Doctor Gu isn’t here.”
“Where did Gu Xu go?”
She wanted to ask if Gu Xu knew about the four rare herbs.
One nurse said, “Doctor Gu received a call this morning and left in a hurry. I don’t know where he went.”
“I know, I know… Doctor Gu said he had to return to the Gu family,” Mianmian replied.
“What? Gu Xu went home?” Qin Yunchuan came in from outside just in time to hear this.
“Yes… yes…” The nurse’s voice trembled seeing Qin Yunchuan’s dark expression.
Big Brother’s mood was off. Mianmian anxiously asked, “Big Brother, isn’t it good that Gu Xu went home?”
Qin Yunchuan’s expression immediately turned serious. “No!”
