After speaking, Mianmian patted Gu Xu on the shoulder with a cheerful smile. “Gu Xu, what’s all this ‘green hat’ nonsense?”
Gu Xu twitched at the corner of his mouth. What on earth was stored in this little girl’s brain?
“Young Master Qin, this is your Qin family child? Spouting nonsense about elders—what kind of upbringing is this?”
The Gu family’s elder pounded the table angrily. As a senior in the Gu family, all the juniors must address him respectfully as “Clan Uncle.” Everyone else bowed humbly before him—but not this little girl. She was completely unruly!
“Our Qin family children are honest and never lie,” Qin Yunchuan said firmly, showing he trusted Mianmian.
He might as well not have spoken at all.
The Gu elder fumed. Meanwhile, Gu Xu took the opportunity to quietly explain the “green hat” concept to Mianmian.
“A green hat… means his wife has been with another man.”
“Gu Xu! Don’t explain it like that—don’t corrupt Mianmian’s ears!”
Qin Yunchuan released Gu Xu, covering Mianmian’s ears. Gu Xu steadied himself, wincing at the pain in his back.
“I’m telling the truth!” Mianmian said.
“You’re just a little kid spouting nonsense,” a young man sneered.
Mianmian stared at him. He looked arrogant, nose in the air. Hmph!
“That blue-and-white vase you love so much, Old Man, you’re the one who broke it—not Gu Xu!”
At her words, Gu Xu turned his head sharply, staring at the back of Mianmian’s head.
The man in the main seat, Gu Xu’s father, narrowed his eyes.
The young man stammered. “Master, it wasn’t me! I really didn’t do it!”
Ordinarily, if it weren’t his fault, he wouldn’t have trembled like that. Mianmian had caught him completely off guard. The more unprepared he was, the more truth it revealed.
“Check the surveillance.”
Gu Xu’s father ordered. Immediately, someone fetched the footage. And sure enough, the truth was clear—the person who broke the vase was not Gu Xu!
Gu Xu’s father was furious. “Take him out of the Gu residence! He shall never set foot here again.”
“I was wrong! I really was wrong…”
No one dared speak up for him. That vase meant something special to Gu Xu’s father; nobody dared touch it at this moment.
Mianmian’s accusation had been correct. Others now turned to the Gu elder, who felt panicked. What a coincidence—but what man could tolerate a green hat? He needed to find the truth and prove Mianmian was lying.
The Gu elder hurried away. Gu Xu’s father looked seriously at him. “It wasn’t you—so why didn’t you explain?”
“I explained! Did you listen?” Gu Xu retorted. Earlier, even when he asked to check the footage, his father dismissed him with: Bad character, no need to see it.
The truth had arrived too late, but Gu Xu didn’t care. Life in the Gu household had never been easy for him. Mianmian, feeling pity, held his fingers gently.
She leaned close to him. Qin Yunchuan frowned. Aside from his good looks, what did Mianmian see in him?
Gu Xu’s father was angry again. He disliked children defying him, and Gu Xu was too stubborn.
Meanwhile, the butler rushed in.
“Master, we found the evidence.”
Madam Gu clenched her fingers, her heart pounding. What to do? What to do?
Mianmian had been right about everything. The evidence had appeared.
Gu Xu could finally clear his name. Mianmian’s smile curved happily across her face.
Gu Xu’s father received the evidence, brows furrowed as he read through it. Everything was clearly recorded.
The butler returned. “Bring him in.”
A man, bound, was led forward. Mianmian noticed a black mole at the corner of his mouth.
When the butler went to fetch the evidence, he happened to see this sneaky man outside Gu Cheng’s yard.
“That’s one of Gu Cheng’s people! He’s the one who hurt Gu Xu!” Mianmian said.
“My son doesn’t know him. Don’t make baseless claims!”
Madam Gu wouldn’t admit it, but Mianmian ignored her and focused on the man with the black mole.
The household cactus seemed to speak again.
Mianmian approached, and Qin Yunchuan grabbed her arm.
“Dangerous.”
“Big Brother, it’ll be fine,” Mianmian said, scrutinizing the black-mole man. “The transaction evidence is in his possession.”
Qin Yunchuan stepped forward and retrieved a bank card from the man’s pocket—a Gu family–exclusive card! He threw it to the ground. “What else is there to say?”
“He deliberately framed my son! I believe my Gu Cheng wouldn’t harm his elder brother. Who sent you? Speak, or you go to the police.” Madam Gu frantically signaled the man, but he didn’t understand.
“I won’t go to the police! I’ll tell… it was Young Master Gu Cheng who sent me. He said to destroy—”
“Shut his mouth and take him away,” Gu Xu’s father ordered.
Mianmian witnessed the man being led away, almost ready to reveal the truth. What did the old man mean?
Qin Yunchuan and Gu Xu’s faces turned cold. Madam Gu’s tense heart slowly relaxed.
“This was a misunderstanding. Let it end here. Everyone, disperse.”
Everyone present was sharp and smart.
They understood Gu Xu’s father. Madam Gu’s eyes glimmered with pride. Clever! Brilliant!
A mere Gu Xu was nothing to fear. In the Gu household, she and her son were the true darlings of the patriarch.
After everyone left, the butler sighed. There was little he could do.
Gu Xu’s father had deliberately favored Gu Cheng, even though Gu Xu was also his son. Why so biased?
Gu Xu truly looked pitiful.
He staggered away. Mianmian sighed. “Big Brother, Gu Xu looks so sad.”
“He’ll be okay, Mianmian… But how did you know the evidence was in the room, in his possession?”
He couldn’t understand. But Mianmian had been accurate multiple times—he began to suspect.
Still… it was absurd!
“The cactus and little cactus told me, Big Brother! I can understand what they say,” Mianmian said proudly, tapping her chest.
Qin Yunchuan immediately scooped her up and strode away.
Mianmian, in his arms, didn’t hear his reply and felt a little nervous.
“Big Brother, are you scared of Mianmian?”
Hmm.
Should she have told him? Mianmian’s heart fluttered.
Back then, when she told her siblings she could hear the thoughts of plants and animals, they thought she was crazy. Some even wanted to kidnap her for medicine experiments.
The thought terrified her.
She curled up, burying herself in Qin Yunchuan’s neck. She shook her head and muttered, “Mianmian is not a monster… not a monster…”
“Fool, my Mianmian is a treasure. A unique, one-of-a-kind treasure.” Qin Yunchuan patted her little bottom. Slowly, her anxiety faded.
Being praised, Mianmian laughed happily. Children’s emotions come quickly—and go just as fast.
Her eyes curved with joy. As they stepped out of the Gu residence, she whispered into Qin Yunchuan’s ear, “Big Brother, I want to tell you something.”
