Chapter 2: Do you doubt me?

The Moon Goddess Chose Me as the Luna of Four Alphas

"Is she someone without a wolf?"

"What a bummer. So there’s actually someone in our pack who doesn’t even have a wolf?"

The whispers of the guests at the party hosted by Adrian and Alaric continued to echo, making the room feel very noisy.

An elder of the Beaumont Pack finally stepped forward to face Liliana. He could sense the immense power hidden within the girl’s body, yet he couldn’t understand why her wolf hadn’t appeared.

"Liliana Forst, are you truly unable to summon your wolf in front of us?"

Liliana shook her head weakly. "I want to summon him, sir. But no matter how hard I try, he refuses to show himself."

The elder narrowed his eyes. He knew Liliana was merely a servant whom Valerie often used as a plaything, so it was impossible for the girl to dare lie to him. He stepped back to consult with the other elders.

A few moments later, the elder returned to face Liliana.

"Since you failed to summon your wolf, there is actually another way. But if that still doesn’t work..." The elder shook his head slowly. "...then you’ll officially be declared a werewolf without a wolf. And the Beaumont Pack will never accept a member who doesn’t have a wolf."

Liliana fell silent for a moment, then nodded in understanding. She knew it all too well a werewolf without a wolf was considered trash. Not a single pack would take her in. She clenched her fingers tightly, then murmured softly.

"Moon Goddess... grant me my wolf. I must protect Valerie."

The elders stepped forward to surround the ceremonial altar the sacred site used to summon a werewolf’s wolf form in the Beaumont Pack. They whispered softly, reciting an ancient incantation that no one understood, not even Adrian and Alaric, despite their status as Alphas.

Five minutes passed. Liliana’s body, which had been standing upright on the altar, suddenly collapsed. Her face turned crimson, and her entire body felt scorching hot, as if on fire. She longed for a touch.

"It’s so hot... I beg you... help me..." she moaned, pleading with the elders to stop the incantation.

Her hands clutched the hem of her tattered clothes tightly, trying to stop herself from tearing them.

"I beg you..." her voice grew hoarse and labored.

But the elders had no intention of stopping. They continued to chant the spell so that Liliana’s wolf would respond to their call. Another five minutes passed, Liliana’s clothes were now soaked through with sweat, and her lips were bleeding because she kept biting them to stay conscious. Her body yearned to be united with her mate, yearned to be touched.

Until suddenly, a beam of deep red light shot out from her arm and streaked straight toward Alaric and Adrian. The entire crowd, including the elders and Liliana herself, was utterly shocked.

"This... Liliana... is she the soulmate of our Alphas?" they asked in unison.

Adrian frowned deeply, as did Alaric. Liliana’s breathing grew heavier. She stared at the two leaders in awe, then ran down from the altar toward them. Since the spell had ended, nothing was holding her back anymore.

Liliana reached out to grab their legs. "Are you my Alphas? I beg you... help me right now. I am your soulmate!"

It was true that her wolf didn’t respond to the elders’ spell, but her inner instincts were strongly drawn toward her mate. Her body writhed, begging to be touched by them.

Alaric and Adrian snorted in disgust, then simultaneously kicked Liliana’s body, sending her crashing into the edge of the altar.

"Do you lust after our bodies?" Alaric asked in an annoyed tone. "Rather than give them to you, wouldn’t it be better to give them to my pet dog!"

"Do you think you’re worthy of being our partner? Don’t even dream of it, Liliana," Adrian continued in an equally annoyed tone.

Liliana looked up, staring at them in disbelief. Her chest felt tight not just from the insults, but also from the pain caused by that merciless kick. The passion that had just swept through her body vanished instantly, as if doused with freezing ice water.

The elders fell silent, they had now made their decision. Liliana was a werewolf without a wolf. And trash like her was indeed unworthy of being a potential soulmate for the Alphas.

"Why?" Liliana asked, her voice trembling.

Adrian sneered. "Do you think we’d want a defective mate like you? Can’t you see how terrible you look?"

Liliana touched her scarred face, then stared at them in silence. "Just because of this?" she finally asked softly.

"Hahaha..." Alaric laughed cynically. "You’re just a lowly servant with no wolf, Liliana. You have no status, no looks, not even a wolf and you think you’re worthy of being by our side? Only a werewolf like Valerie is worthy of that title, not a helpless, deformed girl like you," Adrian declared firmly.

Valerie looked up, staring at Alaric and Adrian with a look of shock no less intense than Liliana’s.

Liliana’s body was shaking violently. The pain caused by the rejection from her two soulmates left her unable to utter a single word.

"Why? Do you need proof?" Alaric asked, looking at Valerie, who was staring at him and Adrian in disbelief, paying no attention to Liliana whatsoever.

"Valerie... do you doubt us?" Adrian asked.

"Why? Why does it have to be Valerie?" Liliana shouted, interrupting their conversation.

Adrian turned and looked at her emotionlessly.

"It seems you still don’t believe us, Liliana... that we don’t want you at all."

He took a slow breath before continuing,

"In that case, I’ll prove it."
