Cassian Valmont

Sitting within the large bath in his bathroom, Cassian had his eyes closed as he tried to get his trembling under control, hating how no matter how he tried, the tremors rushing through his entire body refused to stop.

His heart wasn’t beating fast at all like any other person’s would be doing after such an ordeal, it was just this stupid tremors running through his entire body that was bothering him a tad bit.

As soon as he had gotten to the manor, he had left the carriage behind and rushed up to his room where he locked the door and quickly stripped off then entered the bathroom.

The heat of the water stung him so much so that his skin was gradually turning red and wrinkled as if he was an old man but he didn’t pay it any attention, instead choosing to submerge his head down into the water.

Now, in any case, doing something like that when his mind was still in diarray would have been termed as foolish, suicidal and quite unbecoming of the son of the Count but right now, Cassian had other matters to attend to so he didn’t care about all that.

His mental health was not at all as he thought it was when he came back to life and this admission wasn’t one that he liked hearing at all because, although it didn’t scare him at all, it frankly irritated and upset him.

He hadn’t been given a second chance at life just to suffer once again at the hands of all these evil doers!

And right now, it was looking as if he was almost getting caught up in their games once more and was not coming out at the right sides.

And then there was his mentality, and how often those memories seemed to always want to pull him under their thrall and keep him there just to see him suffer.

He didn’t want to feel like this while the people who did this to him walked free and lived their lives happily as if the last ten years of his previous life didn’t happen.

And just the face of that Crown Prince was enough for him to ball his fists in anger, wishing he could just find a way out to just stab that bastard to death.

Or maybe, cut off his damn head so he knew how it felt like.

Shaking his head to dispel those thoughts, he drew in a sharp breath and plunged straight down into the bath water.

His ears filled with water as everything around him became muted, his lungs burning slightly as he stayed that way.

He didn’t know for how long he stayed that way but soon, his lungs began to burn as it cried out for the air that had been deprived of it and although he felt like being underwater was something that calmed him, he didn’t want to risk his life.

He quickly surged out of the water and instantly, screams of shock and fear filled the air all around him.

What the hell?

His gaze turned icy as he laid them on the maids all around him, each of them holding onto something.

Either cleaning materials or picking up his clothes he had thrown to the corner and the likes.

“Who let you in here?” He barked out and they all quickly fell to their knees, terrified beyond comprehension.

“L-lord C-count used his spare key when looking f-for y-you.” One of the maids sputtered out, her eyes watering as she stared at the ground, hoping that today wouldn’t be her last day alive.

Then a small sigh filled the place as Cassian heard her words and chose to disregard it.

“You only come here if you’re certain that I’m not here.

Do you understand?” He asked and they all nodded profusely.

“Get out!”

None of them needed to be told twice as they all fled the bathroom and then out of the room without even looking back.

Shaking his head, Cassian carried some water from the bath water around him and began to wash his hair.

He was almost done with that when someone stepped into his bathroom and he didn’t have to turn around to know who it was.

“Ah, father.” He simply said as he shook his hair, water spilling out from the ends right before he turned to his father to find the man standing at the threshold of his door with his face red and he could feel the waves of anger emanating from him.

“Are you sick?

Do you need a healer?” He asked with mock concern, already aware of the reason as to why his father was here.

“Don’t you dare play innocent with me, boy!

You know exactly why you did today!” His father barked and he chuckled.

“Oh…enlighten me, father.” The words ‘father’ felt like poison to the man’s ears and somehow, he could feel a certain disdain coming from this son of his and towards him that he did not understand what the reason for it was.

“You killed a commoner!”

“Ah..

correction.

I just strangled him, he didn’t have the courage to die.”

The veins on his fathers forehead looked ready to burst out at the sheer audacity of this son of his.

“You still have the mouth to say something like that?

Do you even have any idea how bad this makes me look?!”

His father’s voice yelled out and he chuckled, the sound infuriating the man to no end as he began to walk up the stairs of his bath, naked as the day he was born.

“Old man, I’m not stupid.

I did it for that particular reason.” He simply replied as his father’s eyes twitched in surprise.

“Why would you do such a thing to make me look bad?” His father asked, genuinely confused and surprised.

“What?

It’s fun, is it not?” He smirked as he wrapped a towel around his waist and began to wash his mouth as if there wasn’t a fire breathing dragon behind him that was his father.

“You….forget it.

The king rescinded his rewards.” His father rubbed a hand all over his face and that was when Cassian finally turned to him.

“He did what now?”

“He’s livid.

He heard about what you did at the pet store and was surprised when he heard you saved those animals so he rewarded you with an estate of your own but when he heard that you almost killed a commoner, he took back his decree.” His father explained carefully, his voice tired as he raised an eyebrow at his son.

“Oh so that’s how it is?

Alright then.” And that was all he said but oddly, his father could sense that this matter wasn’t really over as he turned around and walked out of the bathroom.

Eager to leave his son before he went crazy and disowned the boy for all the troubles he had been causing him recently.

First he burns down a bakery, then he does so many other things in court at his first attendance and now he lets loose in a pet store, what next?

Would he start uncovering the secrets of the ministers at court just for fun?

Shaking his head at the absurdity of his thoughts, he returned to his study to start sending out messages to find a way to quickly blow this whole affair over before the next morning.

He could already imagine the looks and insults he would be getting at tomorrow’s court.

Back in Cassian’s room, he had finished preparing for the night as he walked up to his window and looked out into the night.

Tomorrow would sure bring a lot of things with it and especially for him too but he wasn’t afraid.

In fact, he was actually looking forward to it quite a lot.

The boundaries he would walk on tomorrow was making him jittery, the limits he would test was making him feel like the night was moving way too slow for him and then….the problem he would cause tomorrow….

It would be unlike any that had happened in history.

Does the king think he was playing some sort of game with them?

A mind game perhaps?

Wasn’t his son the same person who said he do something when he didn’t?

Wasn’t his son the same person who told him he would be rewarded as stated by the King himself?

And now he was going back on his words and rescinding the rewards?

Of course he wasn’t that annoyed about the rewards, but the opportunity to cause chaos in the court was right in front of him and he would be a foolish person to not take advantage of it to the fullest.

And he was no foolish person.

If it took going heads to heads with someone like the King to get what he wanted?

Then he would gladly do it and even add some points on top after it’s done.

His shining eyes dimmed as he thought of one of the main reason why he was doing all these….

In a month…..
