Cassian Valmont

The ride to the castle was quiet as his father simply chose to ignore him and stared at some papers he was currently holding as they walked up to the guards who were still scanning those entering the castle and making sure that no unauthorized individual gained entry.

“Hey boys,” Cassian called out, and they all turned to him with a twinkle in their eyes.Full novel: The More Crimes I Commit, The Better My Reputation Becomes — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Clear out!” One of them called out with a loud voice and he smiled as he was granted entry even without flashing his medal and his father could only try to follow behind him too.

But he was stopped at the gate by the guards after Cassian had already crossed the threshold.

“What do you both mean by this?” He asked and Cassian stopped in his tracks, glancing back to find that his father had been stopped by the guards and a smirk tugged at his lips.

“You will have to show your pass medal before entry can be granted to you, Count Valmont.” The guard’s face turns stone cold as he said this and the Count felt his blood boil as he raised his eyes up towards his son but Cassian didn’t let him fully stare into his eyes before he threw his face forward.

Then he began to walk away.

The Count’s pupils constricted at his actions but he stopped himself from saying anything as he fumbled with his clothes for a few seconds before finally drawing out the pass medal and flashing it in the face of the guard.

But by this time, Cassian had already begun on the hallway that led to the Hall Of Ascension where many other nobles and ministers had already gathered, waiting for the arrival of the King.

The two guards by the door pulled open the two double doors when he got closer and he gave each of them a small nod as he walked in, hands behind his back with an air of confidence to his every step.

His long legs took small strides towards the place where he had been given to stand the last time he came here and everywhere he passed, he felt like the entire place began to gradually grow silent.

Hmm, what could be the cause of that?

He glanced back but found only his father who had entered after him and shook his head.

The silence couldn’t due to his father entering.

Well, he didn’t care what it was.

As he finally got to the place he was supposed to be standing, the two ministers there who had gathered and were talking to each other took one look at him and their eyes widened right before they scattered and each went to their respective ranking positions.

Huh?

Now, that’s just strange.

What exactly was going on with all there people here?

‘Did they have nightmares about me or there’s something I’m missing here?’

“Announcing, King Aurelius, Queen Zelda, Crown Prince Lysander, Eldest Princess Athena and Eldest Prince Trevor!!” Everyone instantly fell to their knees once again like last time but this time, Cassian took that to notice as he reluctantly followed them and also knelt down.

But of course, he still looked behind while bowing as he was busy trying to catch a glimpse of his favorite royal once again.

Eldest Prince Trevor.

Eldest Prince Trevor would always remain his favorite despite him having being scammed out of his coins.

This time around, the King was grateful for the smooth walk towards his throne and gently sat down before waving his hands and the entire ministers rose up to their feet once again.

Isn’t this a bit much?

I mean, of course you’re a ruler and all but seriously, no wonder the ministers always have arthritis long before they final resign from their position!

Off to the side, Count Valmont felt his heart tremble at those words as he sharply turned to the King, hoping the king hadn’t heard that too.

But the King said nothing as his head eunuch stepped forward and began to speak.

“Step forward with your petition, court adjourned if none is fo—”

Say what now?

The Head Eunuch is a face wearer?!!

Head of one of the largest rebellion to ever rise in my previous life?

Come on, please don’t tell me it’s the Alpha Rebellion…

[Precisely.]

Oh goodness lord!

Those people were a menace in his previous life and he had done quite a lot to make sure they all disappeared all because the prince had asked him to.

Not that he was praised for it, it was just a duty.

But he didn’t think this should have been happening now or should it?

Wait, okay yesterday was about Spears right and today…?

Oh yes of course, he almost forgot all about this guy.

In his previous life, it was after this court session that he had been called by the King to meet him in his study room but he hadn’t seen him and neither had he seen the guards there when he had gotten to the place.

So as a suspicious individual by nature, he had sneaked into the study and found the King’s secret library wide open and there was someone rummaging through his things there.

It had been this head eunuch.

Oh dear…

He couldn’t even bring himself to finish thinking about that particular memory

From what he recalled which was everything of course since that was the same day he started to understand how much he was with in the eyes of people he called his own.

That day had been painful for him in more ways than one…considering that this most trusted eunuch who could do no wrong in the eyes of his master, the king of course and his subordinates, had turned the story around and pinned it successfully on him.

He balled his hands into fists as the memory began to resurface but he bite down on his tongue as he forced himself to push it back into the same place it had emanated out of.

Some things were better left unopened.

And for someone like him?

Those things spanned the entirety of ten whole years of his life that he had given for this ungrateful kingdom.

Ungrateful wretches!

I hope they all burned in hell.

Just be careful, I might just snap one day and decide to sell out all your secrets to the neighboring Kingdoms just to watch you all burn to death.

THUD!

A thud filled the air and his head snapped sharply to the side, his hazy mind clearing out as he forced himself to focus on what exactly was happening in front of his eyes and not what had already happened.

He knew he had no way in changing what had already happened in his previous life but he sure as hell had a whole lot of ways to change what happens in this life.

Fear was apparent on the face of the head eunuch who stood frozen in place like an icicle as he stared at Cassian with wide eyes.

Cassian stared right back at him before turning his head around towards the othe ministers and found that they were all also staring at him too.

Huh?

Did he suddenly sprout out another head?

Why were they all staring at him like he owed them money?

If they were looking for the rewards the rewards the king sent to him for his help in freeing those animals then he hated to break this news to them but….

Their king was so stingy and his treasury seemed to be too broke also because he rescinded his rewards right before they got to his hands.

I mean, why give the order if you don’t want to go through with it?

I think he just wanted people to know that he’s benevolent!

Benevolent?

The king?

I wouldn’t dare to think so…more like malevolent with a capital M!

A sharp laugh filled the air as Eldest Prince Trevor keeled over, his hand clutching his stomach as he fell into a boisterous laughter, watching as the face of his brother quickly turned sour as he watched him mock him.

Oh he loved this boy!

He absolutely adored this boy so much!

His brother?

Stingy and broke?

Oh this was comedy of the century for him!

He couldn’t even find this type of comedy at the brothel or the bars he frequents.

The decision to come here today really was the right one because how could he have allowed himself to live if he had missed this?!!!

Comment it and let me know.
