[Babies, your little sweet treat is here~]
Buzz, buzz, buzz…
On the lounge chair by the swimming pool, a phone was vibrating rhythmically.
It had already rung five times. It was Rong Ning’s uncle.
When it rang for the sixth time, Rong Ning swam unhurriedly to the edge of the pool. The assistant standing nearby quickly handed over the phone. “Director Rong, it’s President Jiang’s call.”
When Rong Ning saw the caller ID on the screen, the corners of his mouth hooked up slightly, and that hint of a smile vanished in a flash.
Immediately afterward, he took the phone, hung up without the slightest hesitation, and then added that number to his blacklist.
Instead of rushing to throw the phone back to his assistant, he unhurriedly opened WeChat and clicked on the pinned contact.
There were a few voice messages in the chat box, all sent within the last hour or so.
“Why aren’t you answering the phone?”
“As the dignified second-in-command of Lingyue, is this how you set an example?!”
“At 7 PM tonight, you must be there.”
Aning, what happened?
If you have any difficulties, just say it. Uncle will help you analyze it.
The man’s voice was deep and pleasant. His tone started off strong and ended up as earnest and painstaking as if he were educating a child.
Without needing to think twice, Rong Ning knew the expression on his face when he spoke those words.
Holding his phone, Rong Ning’s thoughts drifted secretly. A moment later, biting his teeth, he typed with wet fingers: My difficulty is getting you! I want to kiss you, will you give it? I want to get in your bed, will you let me?
Rong Ning’s fingers paused in mid-air, staring blankly at that line of text on the screen. His gaze darkened, his heart felt sour and painful, his brow furrowed, and he deleted everything.
He simply threw two words at the other person: Scumbag!
After clicking send, he threw the phone far away.
Bang!
The phone hit the ground, making a crisp sound.
Qin Yu froze in shock for a second, bending down to pick it up, but his hand was stopped just as he reached out.
“Don’t pick it up, I don’t want to see it!” Rong Ning glanced sideways, his knitted brow unable to smooth out, his tone strong and unquestionable.
Although he said that, out of the corner of his eye, he still instinctively lingered on the phone for a while, his half-lit, half-dark eyes filled with complex thoughts.
A few seconds later, Rong Ning sighed helplessly, a thin layer of sorrow slowly spilling from the bottoms of his eyes, and he fell backward into the water.
Soon, cold water with a trace of disinfectant scent washed over his entire body, letting himself slowly sink down…
The buzzing sound in his ears was unusually piercing, yet his mind was filled entirely with Jiang Moshan’s figure…
He thought he had expressed himself clearly enough. Probably, the only thing left was to strip in front of that damn man.
What is wrong with this Jiang Moshan!
Is he missing a screw or just too much of a straight-laced guy?
Whenever he felt the timing was just about right and he was about to kiss him, a basin of cold water would suddenly be poured over him.
Scumbag, closeted scumbag, without a doubt!
Rong Ning sank down for over a minute, the sense of suffocation making his head dizzy, while his inner annoyance grew increasingly fierce.
Qin Yu, standing on the bank, turned pale with fright. “Director Rong! Young Master!” Just as he was about to jump into the water to fish him out, Rong Ning suddenly flipped over, drilled out of the water, and gasped heavily for air.
Because of oxygen deprivation, his originally fair skin appeared even colder and whiter.
When he swam to the edge, his lips gradually returned to a peach-pink color.
Qin Yu stroked his chest and held his hand out toward Rong Ning. “Young Master, you scared me to death just now. If anything happened to you, I wouldn’t need to live anymore.”
Rong Ning climbed ashore with the help of his assistant’s arm, letting out a self-deprecating chuckle. “I haven’t lived enough yet.” The person he liked hadn’t been hooked yet.
“Don’t catch a cold, the master just gave instructions.” Saying this, Qin Yu draped a bath towel over him and asked respectfully, “The banquet at 7 tonight, you…”
“Return to the old residence.” Rong Ning interrupted, his tone nonchalant.
The teenager’s lean yet soft and slender physique was as white as frost, his chest gently shimmering with water droplets.
He grabbed a corner of the bath towel on his shoulder, absentmindedly wiping away the water stains on his body, thick dark clouds lingering above his head.
“Then… is it alright if we don’t go to President Jiang’s side?”
“Hmm?” Rong Ning’s movements paused, he frowned, and lazily lifted his eyelids to glare at him. “Are you my assistant or his assistant?”
At this moment, Rong Ning was in a bad mood, his gaze carrying a few strands of hostility, and his eyes did not look as bright as usual.
Qin Yu lowered his head, his gaze dodging, shrinking back in fear. “Uh, this…”
He couldn’t afford to offend either of the two presidents. Fine, he’d better just shut his mouth.
Rong Ning scooped up the phone on the ground, glanced at the screen, and walked outward with the bath towel casually draped over his shoulder. “Time to go home and report in.” A lazy and casual tone wrapped around a bit of helplessness.
Immediately after, he turned his head, narrowing his eyes to stare at Qin Yu following closely behind, his gaze carrying a hint of warning. “Not a word about me swimming in cold water is allowed to get out.”
Seeing the tips of Rong Ning’s nose and the corners of his eyes dyed a bit pink, Qin Yu panicked slightly and hurriedly handed over a thermos cup. “Young Master, drink some ginger tea to warm up your body.”
“I don’t drink that stuff.” Rong Ning glanced at him sideways, his tone wrapped in impatience. “Tch, did you hear what I just said?”
Qin Yu nodded quickly and made an OK gesture. “Understood.” Anyway, it wasn’t the first or second time they had hidden it.
Returning to the Rong family’s old residence, they arrived just in time for mealtime. Rong Ning pulled out a standard smile, walked toward the dining room, and politely greeted them.
“Dad, Auntie, Big Brother.”
Tonight everyone was actually quite complete. Usually, Big Brother didn’t even come home for dinner, but he happened to bump into Rong Ning today.
Rong Qian smiled amiably and patted the seat next to him. “Come on, come over and sit.”
Rong Ning’s forearms hung down naturally, and he walked obediently to the front, moving the chair away lightly and quietly to sit down. “Thanks, Dad.”
“Are you tired from work today?”
“Not tired. Uncle had a business dinner and worried that if I followed along I would be forced to drink alcohol, so he let me come back to rest early.” Rong Ning curved his eyebrows and smiled as he answered.
“That’s good, the habit of not touching tobacco and alcohol must be maintained.” Rong Qian picked up a few pieces of meat and placed them on the plate in front of Rong Ning. “Eat more and nourish your body.”
“Thank you, Dad.”
“Haven’t caught a cold recently, have you?”
Rong Ning obediently shook his head. “No, I pay a lot of attention to keeping warm.”
He stuffed a piece of meat into his mouth, his cheeks bulging slightly, and began to chew slowly.
His appearance was obediently cute.
The aunt opposite him revealed a maternal smile. “Xiaoning is truly sensible and well-behaved.”
Big Brother lowered his head, followed closely by a flash of a smile, but the emotion didn’t reach the bottom of his eyes, and Rong Ning couldn’t see through the deeper meaning of this smile.
He didn’t like the Big Brother in front of him who had no blood relation to him, and even less did he like his stepmother whom he was forced to call auntie.
Rong Ning glanced over, then immediately lowered his eyes, his eyelashes trembling slightly to conceal the contempt and disgust deep in his eyes.
The four of them finished dinner with their own hidden thoughts. Rong Ning politely said goodnight to everyone and went back to his room.
The Rong family had strict family rules and a regular routine. Around 8 o’clock, the house lights would go out. The servants and housekeeper also knew the rules and would not disturb the head of the family’s rest unless there was an emergency.
At 9 PM, the nightlife of young men and women was just beginning. At Wake bar, the music was deafening and the lights were colorful.
Near a round table diagonally opposite the dance floor, Rong Ning leaned lazily on the sofa, crossing his legs and leisurely shaking the glass in his hand, the whiskey inside sloshing along.
The teenager’s eyebrows flicked slightly, his clear peach-blossom eyes hiding three parts of drunkenness.
“Tch, this wine isn’t strong enough.”
