Sheng Xuanzhu would not allow Shen Que to speak of himself and Wen Zhibai in such a tone.

“Pull over.” Sheng Xuanzhu’s voice was icy cold.

Assistant Bian once again steered the car to the side of the road and stopped.Full novel: The Obedient Stand-in is Raised by the Deceased Husband — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Get out.”

Assistant Bian obeyed, pushing the door open and stepping out.

Before Shen Que could react, Sheng Xuanzhu’s large hand wrapped around his waist, dragging him into his embrace.

“Calling me ‘Sheng Xuanzhu’ over and over—how dare you care so much about him in front of me?” The alpha’s tone was hard to read, whether angry or mocking, but his aura was cold and pervasive.

Shen Que was suddenly enveloped by the intensified scent of leather, struggling to breathe. He tried to push the man away, but the alpha’s arms felt as if cast from iron, impossible for him to budge with his strength.

Sheng Xuanzhu would not let him off easily. Since Shen Que hated Sheng Xuanzhu, he would replace his former self with this new identity. Even if the truth came to light one day, Shen Que would never be able to leave him again.

“From now on, I am your only alpha. I don’t want to hear that name again.”

Shen Que couldn’t figure it out—was Mr. Xuan truly disgusted with Sheng Xuanzhu, or was he angry because Shen Que had mentioned another alpha?

The spacious car interior felt cramped. Dreamer still sat in the front, watching.

Shen Que was pressed down onto the seat, forced to cling to Sheng Xuanzhu, his limbs wrapped around the man, his body contorted into a humiliating position.

“We’re outside!”

It was the first time Shen Que had raised his voice to Mr. Xuan, a mix of shame and anger. Mr. Xuan couldn’t just act without regard for their surroundings.

Seeing the omega on the verge of tears again, Sheng Xuanzhu’s large hand clamped around his wrist, pinning it harshly above his head as he leaned in closer.

Sheng Xuanzhu’s smile was inscrutable, carrying a chilling undertone. “Remember, from now on, you are my omega.”

The luxury car parked abruptly by the roadside trembled slightly.

It was late, and the streets were nearly empty, but not far away stood a factory where night-shift workers came and went. In their current situation, anyone who glanced over would see everything clearly.

Shen Que tensed, every hair on his body standing on end, his entire being coiled with nervous energy.

Sheng Xuanzhu’s breath was scorching, washing over him, a faint scent of plum wine mingling with leather.

He still carried Nuofeng’s scent, just like his own…

Shen Que let out a choked sob, unable to form a complete sentence. “I… I’m just your lover. Nuofeng is your omega.”

A dangerous smile played on Sheng Xuanzhu’s lips, his eyes gleaming ominously in the dim light. He spoke slowly, as if proving a point. “Nuofeng doesn’t deserve it.”

Assistant Bian lit a cigarette, sitting on the opposite side of the road.

Dreamer’s body swayed slightly, tilting his head as his round eyes watched his owners, seemingly unable to comprehend their actions.

Sheng Xuanzhu helped Shen Que sit up, the two now facing each other. This position left Shen Que feeling utterly vulnerable.

His hand pressed against the car window glass, then slid down, leaving sweat-dampened fingerprints on the surface.

Tears welled in the omega’s eyes as he whimpered, his small head resting on the alpha’s shoulder like a fox, both alluring and pitiful.

Sheng Xuanzhu turned his head, capturing Shen Que’s trembling, parted lips in a kiss, his fingers tracing the omega’s delicate, soft back before digging harshly into his slender waist.

He loved the way Shen Que trembled when it was over.

The sense of conquest and possessiveness intoxicated him all over again.

“Don’t take Nuofeng’s matter to heart,” Sheng Xuanzhu whispered into Shen Que’s ear as they finished.

Unfortunately, Shen Que had long since drifted off to dreamland and didn’t hear a single word.

At 2:30 a.m., Shen Que was wrapped in Sheng Xuan Zhu’s coat and carried out of the car. His slender, pale legs dangled weakly in the air.

A gust of cold wind blew, and the exhausted Shen Que instinctively nestled closer into the alpha’s embrace. Even a fox spirit would struggle to match this instinctive skill of his.

To avoid awkwardness, Assistant Bian led Dreamer back to his den.

Shen Que slept soundly until dawn. By the time he woke up, Mr. Xuan had already left for the office.

Little Potato continued to provoke Dreamer, then stood triumphantly in the room, while the servants went about their tasks as leisurely as ever. Yet, Shen Que felt that something had changed.

Perhaps it was because Mr. Xuan had specifically gone to pick him up last night, telling him in the car that Nuo Feng wasn’t worthy of being his omega—he was. Or perhaps it was because, after returning home, Mr. Xuan had helped him bathe and clean up.

With nothing else to do, Shen Que spent the day at the hospital keeping his grandmother company. On his way home in the evening, he bought some snacks for Dreamer.

Both Dreamer and Little Potato happily enjoyed the treats, but only Mr. Xuan wore a dark expression.

Shen Que specially prepared a sweet soup, and only after Mr. Xuan ate it did his mood lighten slightly.

Who would have thought Mr. Xuan was such an alpha?

As he grew closer to Mr. Xuan, there were times when Mr. Xuan returned late, and Shen Que would even receive a message telling him not to wait, to eat and rest early.

During this time, Shen Que felt as if he had been dropped into a honey jar—every day was filled with happiness.

“I never knew you were so experienced at charming omegas,” Sheng Xuan Zhu remarked, placing his phone on the table as he glanced at Xie Lan, who was sipping coffee nearby.

All the kindness he had shown Shen Que during this period had been taught by Xie Lan.

Xie Lan merely smiled and changed the subject. “Have you seen the sample of ‘Beautiful Life’? If this airs, Shen Que will be torn apart by Nuo Feng’s fans. Are you sure you want to broadcast it as is?”

“The more trouble he faces, the more he’ll rely on me.”

With that, Sheng Xuan Zhu sent an “approved” message to the director on his phone.
