“Don't save me.”
The voice of Elena echoed through the collapsing universe.
Kael stood motionless.
For sixteen years, he had believed his greatest goal was to become strong enough to protect the people he loved.
His mother.
Liora.
Aren.
Everyone.
But now his mother was telling him—
not to save her.
The nameless being called Permission watched him carefully.
“Do you understand now?”
Kael slowly raised his head.
“No.”
Permission frowned.
Kael's eyes hardened.
“I understand that you're lying.”
The universe went silent.
Liora smiled faintly.
Aren nodded.
Permission's expression became cold.
“You think this is a lie?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“Because my mother would never ask me to abandon her.”
Kael stepped forward.
“She would ask me to live.”
His sword stopped trembling.
His breathing became steady.
“She already did.”
Permission stared at him.
Then—
he laughed.
“Excellent.”
The collapsing universes suddenly stopped.
Everything returned to normal.
Kael's eyes narrowed.
“You planned this.”
“Of course.”
Permission spread his arms.
“You have finally reached the point I needed.”
Kael understood.
The entire confrontation had been designed to push him toward one decision.
Use Absolute Authority.
Trade his heart.
Try to resurrect Elena.
And become exactly what the ancient beings feared.
Kael looked at Liora.
“What happens if I use Authority now?”
Liora didn't answer.
Aren did.
“You lose the part of yourself that makes the choice.”
Kael looked at him.
Aren continued.
“Authority can create anything.”
“But?”
“It can't create a reason.”
Kael lowered his sword.
Permission smiled.
“Then give me your heart.”
“No.”
Permission's smile disappeared.
Kael stepped forward.
“I won't.”
“Then your mother remains dead.”
Kael nodded.
“Yes.”
Liora looked at him.
Kael's voice was quiet.
“And I will still love her.”
For the first time, Permission looked confused.
“You would willingly accept her death?”
Kael closed his eyes.
“No.”
He opened them.
“I accept that I cannot control it.”
The words echoed across creation.
Aren smiled.
“That's the difference.”
Liora reached for Kael's hand.
“And that's why you're still Kael.”
Permission suddenly raised his hand.
BOOM!
The universe shattered.
Kael, Liora, and Aren were thrown into different directions.
Kael crashed into a dead world.
Liora disappeared into a sea of silver light.
Aren vanished behind countless black barriers.
Permission appeared above them.
“You still don't understand.”
Kael stood.
“What?”
“You believe acceptance is strength.”
Permission pointed toward the stars.
“It is weakness.”
A massive red line appeared across existence.
“Everything that has ever lived eventually loses.”
Another line.
“Every civilization falls.”
Another.
“Every universe ends.”
Another.
“Every memory disappears.”
Permission looked at Kael.
“And every person you love…”
His voice became cold.
“…will eventually leave you.”
Kael stared at him.
Then he smiled.
“Yes.”
Permission paused.
Kael raised his sword.
“And?”
The stranger's eyes narrowed.
Kael's voice grew stronger.
“That doesn't make loving them meaningless.”
Silence.
Liora's silver light suddenly exploded across the battlefield.
CHOICE.
“I choose to love.”
Aren's black barriers shattered.
LIMIT.
“I choose to let things end.”
Kael raised his sword.
AUTHORITY.
“And I choose to live.”
The three powers connected.
Permission took a step backward.
“No.”
Kael looked at him.
“You said my heart was separated from my Authority.”
Permission's expression changed.
“Yes.”
“Then you made one mistake.”
“What?”
Kael touched his chest.
“You thought my heart was the thing that gives Authority power.”
He smiled.
“It isn't.”
Liora understood.
“The heart gives him a reason.”
Aren finished:
“And reason cannot be controlled.”
Permission's eyes widened.
Kael's black mark appeared again.
But this time—
there was no System.
No warning.
No percentage.
No cost.
The mark transformed.
A black circle appeared over Kael's heart.
Inside it was a tiny silver light.
And around the circle—
a thin black line.
Three symbols.
Three powers.
One heart.
Permission stepped backward.
“What did you do?”
Kael looked at his hand.
“I didn't use Authority.”
“Then what is that?”
Kael smiled.
“I don't know.”
The universe trembled.
Elyra appeared beside Permission.
Her face was filled with fear.
“No…”
Permission turned.
“What?”
Elyra stared at Kael.
“He found it.”
Permission's expression changed.
“Found what?”
“The thing Elena hid.”
Kael looked at her.
“What did my mother hide?”
Elyra whispered:
“Your Original Name.”
Kael froze.
“My name is Kael Ardyn.”
“No.”
Elyra shook her head.
“That is the name your mother gave you.”
She looked toward his heart.
“Your original name existed before Kael.”
The stars began disappearing.
Not from destruction.
From recognition.
Something ancient was waking.
Permission looked terrified.
“Stop.”
Kael frowned.
“What?”
“Don't remember.”
Kael's heart began beating faster.
THUMP.
A memory appeared.
Three children.
Kael.
Liora.
Aren.
But this memory was different.
They weren't playing beneath the stars.
They stood before something enormous.
A fourth presence.
A being without a body.
A voice without sound.
Young Kael was crying.
Liora was holding his hand.
Aren was standing between them and the presence.
And Elena was behind them.
She was screaming.
“RUN!”
Young Kael turned.
“Mom!”
Elena pushed him forward.
“Don't look back!”
Then the fourth presence spoke.
“You cannot hide him forever.”
Elena screamed:
“Then I'll hide him from reality itself!”
The memory shattered.
Kael fell to his knees.
Liora ran toward him.
“Kael!”
He looked at her.
His eyes were different.
Not silver.
Not black.
Something deeper.
Liora stopped.
“Kael…?”
He whispered:
“I remember.”
Aren appeared beside them.
“What?”
Kael looked at his brother.
“I remember what happened before we became three.”
Aren's face went pale.
“You shouldn't.”
“We were one.”
Silence.
Liora stared at him.
“One?”
Kael nodded.
“Before Authority, Choice, and Limit…”
He touched his chest.
“There was only one thing.”
Permission stepped forward.
“No!”
Kael looked at him.
“One will.”
Permission's face twisted with rage.
“Enough!”
He attacked.
The entire universe folded inward.
Kael didn't move.
Permission's hand stopped inches from his face.
Not because of Limit.
Not because of Choice.
Not because of Authority.
Because Kael simply—
said no.
The attack disappeared.
Permission stared at his empty hand.
“How?”
Kael looked at him.
“I don't know.”
Then the voice inside his heart answered.
“Because you finally remembered.”
Kael froze.
The voice was his own.
But older.
Much older.
It spoke again.
“You were never created to become the One Above All.”
Kael's heart began glowing.
“You were created to decide whether there should be an Above All.”
The universe shook violently.
Liora grabbed Kael's hand.
Aren grabbed his other.
The three stood together.
Permission slowly backed away.
“No…”
Kael looked toward him.
“Tell me something.”
Permission said nothing.
“Why are you afraid of me?”
The stranger's face became pale.
“Because…”
He looked at Kael's heart.
“…I was created to keep you from remembering.”
Kael's eyes widened.
“Created by whom?”
Permission looked toward the empty Throne.
Then toward the darkness beyond it.
“The answer is older than the First God.”
Aren's expression hardened.
“Who?”
Permission whispered:
“Yourself.”
Kael stopped.
The universe stopped.
Liora stared at him.
Aren couldn't speak.
Permission smiled through his fear.
“You created me.”
Kael's mind went blank.
Permission continued.
“You created the First God.”
Kael's eyes widened.
“You created the first universe.”
Liora stepped backward.
“No…”
“You created Choice.”
Aren looked at his hands.
“You created Limit.”
Permission looked at Kael.
“And when you realized what you had become…”
His voice dropped to a whisper.
“…you created me.”
Kael couldn't breathe.
“What did I create you for?”
Permission smiled.
“To stop you.”
The empty Throne suddenly cracked.
A voice emerged from within it.
A voice Kael recognized.
His own.
But older.
Colder.
Broken.
“If you remember everything…”
The Throne opened.
“…you will become me.”
Kael stared into the darkness.
And from inside the Throne—
another Kael stepped out.
Not the other Kael from the Last World.
Not the First King.
Not the Remnant.
This one looked exactly like him.
Same face.
Same eyes.
Same scar.
But there was no emotion in his expression.
He looked at Kael.
Then at Liora.
Then Aren.
And smiled.
“I've been waiting for you.”
Kael raised his sword.
“Who are you?”
The other Kael answered:
“I am what you become…”
He paused.
“…if you remember everything.”
