He could not fool himself.

But, was he really not…

A-Xing’s gaze landed on Gu Qingze once more. Locking eyes with those amber irises, he asked in a small voice, “How did you know I belong to the insect race? I never revealed that to you.”Full novel: The Overbearing CEO Picked Up a Beautiful Wife — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

He still believed that Gu Qingze was his Lord.

Gu Qingze raised an eyebrow, and just as he was about to speak, he stopped himself upon second thought, simply saying, “I have my own channels. You only need to know that I am not your Lord, and prior to this, we have no relation whatsoever.”

That book had appeared out of nowhere and then suddenly vanished. Before figuring out the situation, Gu Qingze did not want to blurt everything out. Heaven’s secrets must not be leaked, and if he somehow disrupted any causal relationships and ruined his financial luck, that would not be good.

Gu Qingze noticed that the moment he finished saying this, the faint glimmer in A-Xing’s eyes completely dimmed.

A-Xing lowered his head, his voice somewhat muffled. “Are you going to send me away again?”

Seeing this sight, Gu Qingze felt even more like a villain. However, things that needed to be made clear had to be made clear; after all, he was no great philanthropist.

“I can provide you with a place to stay for a month. However, this is not free; you need to help me do some work, shoot commercial promotional videos, and use your existing combat skills to help me train a formidable team of bodyguards.”

He had seen the scene of A-Xing fighting last night. The movements were clean and decisive, truly matching the image of a major general from a book. Oh right, there was also that inexplicable strength; there were already quite a few objects here that had been damaged due to his carelessness.

With his head lowered, A-Xing listened to this and remained silent for a long while. Just when Gu Qingze thought he would not agree, he spoke. “Then, can I stay here?”

Hearing this, Gu Qingze only hesitated for a moment before agreeing. Anyway, his place was quite large, and having someone live there did not matter.

“Then, can I continue calling you Lord?”

A-Xing raised his gaze, paying close attention to Gu Qingze’s facial expression. When he noticed Gu Qingze’s brow gradually furrowing at those words, the hope held within his eyes dissipated. Lowering his gaze once more, he whispered, “It is okay if I cannot. Just having a place to stay is already wonderful… I agree to all the conditions you mentioned earlier.”

Hearing this, Gu Qingze’s expression shifted slightly, and he simply gave a calm assent.

Before understanding the true meaning of “Lord,” he might not have dwelled on it too much, but once it was clear, certain things had to be straightened out.

Otherwise, it would just be acting like a scumbag.

Gu Qingze stood up, adjusted his attire, and looked with a cold gaze at A-Xing, who still had his head bowed. “Someone will come over shortly to arrange your identity and upcoming schedule.”

Pausing for a moment, he added, “This is the human world. You can observe more of how we live. It is best not to display behavior that differs from ordinary people. We are merely passing acquaintances, and I cannot completely guarantee your safety.”

With that, without waiting for any reaction from A-Xing, he turned and walked toward the front door.

His gait was elegant yet full of presence. As the front door opened, two black-suited bodyguards walked over, respectfully opening the door to escort him out.

A-Xing stared blankly in the direction of the front door. Gu Qingze’s figure was gone, but A-Xing continued to watch.

As he looked on, the dim, light-purple eyes gradually brightened again. His Lord still cared about him after all.

Ah, the ultimate lovesick simp, A-Xing!

A-Xing picked up a book lying on the coffee table and began flipping through it. This was something Gu Qingze had specially asked someone to dig out and place here. The content was about human origins, encompassing biological, geographical, and historical knowledge.

It was enough for A-Xing to temporarily understand this world, or so Gu Qingze believed.

Only, Gu Qingze never imagined that the person responsible for purchasing books would end up buying a pirated copy, one disguised with a seductive cover.

As A-Xing flipped through the pages, his expression shifted from initial curiosity and clarity to a gradual haze.

The door to a new world opened a tiny crack…

With a sudden thud, A-Xing slammed the book shut and tossed it onto the sofa, covering his face in an attempt to hide the unnatural flush on his cheeks.

Why would his Lord read a book like that?

A-Xing’s memories regarding that aspect were almost entirely a blur, and just like that, the book had poured some abnormal thoughts straight into his head.

A-Xing lay face down on the sofa, covering his face. There was a sentence in that book that left a deep impression on him: Only couples who are truly in love can do those things, because it is through love that they trust each other completely.

A-Xing blinked. Love? How was one supposed to love someone?

A tiny seed was buried within the folds of his heart, waiting simply to sprout and grow once someone realized it.

Not long after A-Xing lay down on the bed, he heard footsteps approaching. The train of thought he was building in his mind about how to pursue someone was abruptly interrupted, and A-Xing leaped up instantly, shoving that book underneath the sofa.

His movements were so swift that Li Xiang and Wang Qing only saw A-Xing standing upright before them with a slightly flushed face.

Wang Qing was stunned for a moment before breaking into a professional smile, turning to A-Xing to ask, “Hello, are you Mr. A-Xing?”

A-Xing nodded, his face still a bit red, and replied in a soft voice, “Yes, my name is A-Xing.”

“We are the assistants assigned by President Gu to look after you. My name is Wang Qing, and this is Li Xiang. President Gu has already handled your identification documents, and your ID will be delivered to you tomorrow. Next, I will brief you on your schedule for today, which will primarily involve getting acquainted with the work you will be undertaking…”

Wang Qing spoke at an unhurried pace, explaining everything clearly.

A-Xing listened intently, gradually pushing the lingering images from his mind into the background.

“Alright, thank you.” A-Xing nodded, his expression cool and indifferent, entirely devoid of the cautious submissiveness he showed in front of Gu Qingze.

At this, Wang Qing’s eyes flashed, a tiny spark of excitement faintly stirring within them. He is so handsome! Like a porcelain doll. When did President Gu take in such a gorgeous beauty with blue hair and purple eyes? Aw, my maiden heart!

No matter how excited she felt inside, professional etiquette allowed Wang Qing to maintain only a polite smile on the surface. “Please follow me, I will take you to get familiar with the workspace.”

Watching the scenery continuously receding past the car window, A-Xing couldn’t help a sigh of amazement. When he snapped out of it, a wave of confusion surfaced in his eyes again, though he didn’t even know what he was amazed by.

A-Xing pressed his lips together and blinked. It really was different…

Everything was different. It wasn’t the same world, nor the same race.

Who on earth was he, really?

A-Xing suddenly found himself dwelling on that question again.

Before he could think deeply about it, however, the car slowly came to a halt.

A-Xing looked out the window and noticed many parked cars lining the street. Casting his gaze further into the distance, he saw crowds bustling along the pedestrian walkway.

A-Xing spotted a young man holding a bouquet of vibrant red flowers, running up to present them to a young woman. Cheers seemed to erupt from the surrounding onlookers, and the girl accepted them with great delight, taking the young man’s hand as they walked down the street together. They both looked exceptionally happy.

A-Xing blinked, then suddenly asked, “What is that? Are those flowers? Why is she so happy to receive them?”
