ZARYA ROGOV

I stared at the long gash on his arm.

Blood dripped down onto the cold floor just like tears dripping down my cheeks.Full novel: The Pakhan’s Bride — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

I broke a vase again and was about to end my life when he came out of nowhere.

He tried to stop me, but I ended up hurting him.

Bogdan pressed on his wound to stop the blood and looked up at me.

He tried to mask his painful expressions but was failing miserably.

My lips trembled, and I took a step back.

“Why d-do you have to…” I breathed heavily and grabbed the edge of the dressing table to keep myself steady.

My head was throbbing, and my whole body was aching like I had been running a marathon.

“Miss Zarya, please, don’t make it hard for me,” Bogdan said, his jaw clenched.

I wanted to apologize, but words were stuck in my throat.

Just then, the door burst open, making both of us flinch.

My eyes widened when they landed on Sergei.

He first looked around the mess I had made in his room before his eyes landed on Bogdan’s injury.

I felt like I couldn’t breathe anymore when I noticed his eyes darkening.

He slowly looked at me and tilted his head.

That look promised my destruction as if he hadn’t ruined me enough.

Bogdan walked over to him, and before he could say something, Sergei ordered him to go get himself treated before he lost more blood.

Bogdan gave him a light bow and left.

Just as he stepped out of the room, my heart beat spiked to an abnormal level.

I felt like I was having a bad dream, but no, this was real.

Sergei slowly stepped inside and locked the door.

A cry left my lips, and I immediately limped back into the corner, grabbing one of the broken pieces of the vase from the floor as I pointed it at him with both of my trembling hands.

When Sergei saw me, he gave no reaction.

He was blank like a silent storm.

He took off his coat ever so slowly and threw it on his master chair before twisting his neck and stretching his arms.

A sob raked through my body, and my grip tightened on the broken piece until it cut through my skin, but I couldn’t feel the pain because the fear of his existence had taken over me.

“Y-You bastard.” I cursed him.

My body was trembling because it knew something bad was coming.

He slowly began to walk towards me. This story is hosted at g.com.

“Stay there!” I yelled, but he didn’t stop.

He looked like a predator chasing its helpless prey.

His blank eyes were fixed on me, unwaveringly fixated.

He wasn’t going to stop.

I looked around and then back at him before pressing the sharp, broken piece against my left wrist.

The sharp piece was already covered with my blood.

I knew this would make him stop, but just in two strides, he was right before me, towering over me like an actual death.

A yelp left my lips, and before I could react, he grabbed the sharp piece and threw it away.

“No-”

He pushed forward until my back was pressed against the wall, and he was pressed against me from in front.

My soft body completely squashed against his hard one, and the weird thin white gown I was wearing, like I was already dead, wasn’t helping.

“Stop!”

I put my trembling hands on his broad shoulders, weakly pushing at him.

“Why?

You are my wife.

I get to do whatever I want with you.” He rasped in my ear, his hot breath against my skin sent chills down my spine.

“I’m not your damn toy.” I cried out.

He chuckled, making me flinch.

I slowly looked up at him with my red, teary eyes, and he was looking down at me with those lifeless hazel eyes.

“You are my wife.” He said again, as if imprinting it in my mind.

“I’m not your wife.” I retorted.

Suddenly, he gripped my hips from behind with both of his hands and gave them a rough squeeze to the point it felt painful.

I yelped at the hold.

“You.

Are.” He stared right in my eyes, a deadly promise in his eyes that had me trembling.

“And I’ll prove it to you right now.”

“Huh?”

Before I could react properly, he lightly pushed me towards the bed, making me fall on the soft mattress.

I groaned when the little pressure on my ankle sent a jolt of pain through my body.

My breath became heavier as I shook my head at him.

It seemed like a panic attack was on its way.

“You can’t touch me.” I tried to push him away with my full strength, but he didn’t even budge.

The fact that he could do anything and I was helpless against him was terrifying to me.

I needed to get away from him to hold onto the little piece of sanity I had left.

“I can and I will.”

I raised my hand to slap him, but he grabbed my wrist and pinned it down.

“Agh!” I tried to struggle against him, tears already running down my temples.

“You don’t get to do whatever you want.” I rasped, struggling to get my wrist out of his hold.

“You’re still holding onto that useless opinion of yours, still trying to hold onto your little self when deep down you are fully aware that you are nothing but mine.” He leaned in closer till his chest was once again pressed against mine, and his hot breath caressed my face.

“I’m not.” I retaliated with everything that was left in me.

I didn’t want to give in, but I felt myself crumbling.

I was tired.

Helpless.

Hopeless.

I just wanted to die, but this man before me was my ultimate curse.

“I can always prove it.” He whispered against my mouth, his lips touching mine.

“That still wouldn’t ch-change anything,” I said, turning my face to the left, but he grabbed my jaw firmly, making me face him again.

I looked up at him with teary eyes, hoping he would take pity on me.

“We won’t know until we try.” With that, he pressed his lips against mine.

The kiss wasn’t soft; it was rough and punishing.

It felt like he was claiming me.

The kiss wasn’t filled with love; it was filled with anger and something else, something a lot closer to madness.

“Mmm.” I couldn’t move.

He forcefully shoved his tongue in my mouth.

I tried to push at him with my free hand, but even my full strength was not enough to get him off me.

All my useless self could do was lie there helplessly under his strength and let him do whatever he wanted.

Let him take the only little thing I had.

Myself.
