As soon as Jiang Chen finished speaking, the driver’s expression shifted drastically.
His eyes darted around.
“Nonsense!
Are you telling me a country bumpkin like you knows more about bikes than I do?”
“Fine.
Even if it is a Fengshang 400 like you claimed, the most expensive 400cc model on the market goes for just over nine thousand,” Jiang Chen replied, “yet you opened your mouth and demanded ten thousand.
What, are you trying to extort a brand-new bike out of two scratches?”
He cast a cold glance at the driver, then pointed at the girl behind him.
“Furthermore, stealing someone’s bike wasn’t enough for you?
Now you’re trying to abduct the girl as well.
That’s crossing the line.”
The driver’s pupils shrank violently at those words.
Zhang Rou, however, looked at Jiang Chen in complete confusion.
“What do you mean, stealing a bike and abducting a person?”
Jiang Chen smiled faintly.
“First, after the crash, his eyes were glued to the bike; he didn’t even check on the girl.
Second, he knew absolutely nothing about this bike.
Do you really think someone who rides motorcycles wouldn’t know the make and model of his own ride?
Finally, when you asked how the girl was doing, he still didn’t show any concern and instead acted incredibly anxious to leave.”
He then turned his gaze back to the driver.
“All of this is enough to prove that you stole the bike and abducted the girl.
Is my analysis correct?”
The driver narrowed his eyes and stepped off the motorcycle.
“I’ll remember you!” he said coldly to Jiang Chen.
“Make sure you do.
My name is Jiang Chen!”
With a casual smile, Jiang Chen walked over to the motorcycle, lifted the girl off, and gently set her down on the ground nearby.
The moment he removed her helmet, a breathtakingly beautiful face was revealed to everyone.
However, that alluring face was deeply flushed.
She appeared entirely disoriented, murmuring incoherently under her breath.
“Does she have a fever?” Zhang Rou asked, leaning in closer.
Jiang Chen shook his head.
“She’s been drugged.”
“Drugged?” Zhang Rou pondered for a moment before her eyes widened in fury.
“That bastard!
He wanted to knock her out and take advantage of her…”
Just as she raised her head to curse out the driver, she suddenly saw that the man, who had supposedly fled, had unexpectedly doubled back.
A dagger was now gripped tightly in his hand as he lunged straight for Jiang Chen’s back.
“Watch out!”
Zhang Rou cried out in alarm, her hands flying up to cover her mouth mid-sentence.
The terrifying scene had caught her completely off guard.
By the time her warning rang out, the dagger-wielding driver was already right behind Jiang Chen.
In just a split second, the blade would plunge into his back.
Zhang Rou’s heart dropped.
Even with her warning, and even if Jiang Chen had fast reflexes, she feared there was no way he could dodge the strike.
Too terrified to watch, she squeezed her eyes shut as she screamed.
SHLICK!
Now, she was even more afraid to open her eyes.
“Ahhh!”
An agonizing howl immediately followed.
Zhang Rou listened closely and realized something wasn’t right.
That voice didn’t sound like Jiang Chen’s.
When she opened her eyes, the scene before her completely defied her expectations.
The one who had been stabbed wasn’t Jiang Chen—it was the driver.
The dagger that had been in the driver’s hand was now driven completely through his own palm.
Clutching his hand, he stumbled backward and collapsed onto the ground.
Blood quickly soaked into the earth around him.
Zhang Rou had no idea what had just happened, but the driver had experienced it firsthand.
The moment she screamed, he had already reached Jiang Chen.
He brought his arm down, a split second away from severely injuring his target.
Yet, within that fraction of a second, Jiang Chen spun around with ghost-like speed.
Before the driver could even process his shock, Jiang Chen had seized his wrist, snatched the dagger away, and ruthlessly driven it straight through the man’s palm.
Watching Jiang Chen step closer, the driver scrambled backward, kicking at the dirt.
“Bro, who are you running with?” he asked fearfully.
“I work for Lord Dog.
We might even know the same people.”
“Lord Dog?” Jiang Chen gave a chilling smile.
“What kind of thing is that?”
The driver’s eyes darted nervously.
“Lord Dog is a very powerful figure in this town!
Bro, if you let me go this time, I’ll introduce you to him.
With your skills, Lord Dog will definitely appreciate you.
You’ll have it made…”
“Ahhh!”
Before the driver could finish, Jiang Chen stomped down on his injured hand.
The dagger embedded in his palm was forced deeper, inflicting even more agonizing pain and eliciting a shriek that sounded like a slaughtered pig.
“Stop, stop, stop!”
Drenched in cold sweat, the driver looked at Jiang Chen pleadingly.
“I was wrong…
This was my first time!
I’ll never do it again!”
Just as Jiang Chen was about to speak, Zhang Rou walked over and tugged at his sleeve.
“Why don’t we let it go?
He doesn’t look very old, and we shouldn’t blow this out of proportion.”
“Yeah, this was my first time!
It was supposed to be a token of loyalty to join Lord Dog.
I swear I won’t do it again!” the driver chimed in, piggybacking on Zhang Rou’s plea.
Jiang Chen sneered.
“Of all the things you could do with your life, you chose to be a street thug.”
“I’ll never do it again!”
His hand is probably ruined anyway.
Don’t do anything that might kill him,” Zhang Rou urged.
Jiang Chen thought for a moment before lifting his foot.
“Get lost!”
Seeing his chance, the driver ignored the searing pain and desperately sprinted toward the town.
“Are you okay?” Zhang Rou asked.
“I’m fine.” Jiang Chen shook his head.
He walked over to the girl and gave her a brief examination, raising an eyebrow at the results.
“How is she?” Zhang Rou pressed.
“Is there any way to counteract the drug?”
“Yes.” Jiang Chen grinned.
“But it won’t be easy to sort out.”
“Why won’t it be easy?” Zhang Rou asked in confusion.
“There are two ways to neutralize this drug,” Jiang Chen sighed helplessly.
“The first method requires finding a few specific herbs, crushing them into a juice, and using silver needles to guide the medicinal properties into her meridians.
I have my silver needles on me, but where am I supposed to find those herbs in the middle of nowhere?”
Zhang Rou rubbed her nose.
“Well, didn’t you say there’s a second method?
Just use that one.”
“But…” Jiang Chen raised an eyebrow.
“The second method is a bit inappropriate.”
“What do you mean inappropriate?
You’re saving a life, not doing anything shady,” Zhang Rou asked casually.
“How does it work?
Can I help with anything?”
Jiang Chen figured that since she was the one pressing the issue, he had no reason to feel embarrassed.
He threw his hands up.
“We find a secluded spot, and then we take off her clothes.”
“Take off her clothes?
What for?”
“To save her,” Jiang Chen said with absolute seriousness.
“The second method requires me to do that kind of thing with her.”
“Huh?” Zhang Rou’s expression instantly changed.
“Only by blending Yin and Yang can we force the drug out of her system.”
Looking at Jiang Chen’s innocent expression, Zhang Rou frowned.
“Are those really the only two options?”
Jiang Chen nodded.
Zhang Rou looked at Jiang Chen, then at the unconscious girl lying nearby, suddenly finding herself caught in a dilemma.
There were definitely no medicinal herbs out here.
But letting Jiang Chen do that with the girl?
And right in front of her?
That really wasn’t appropriate.
If the girl woke up in the middle of it, there would be absolutely no way to explain the situation.
“Well, if we don’t treat her, will the effects of the drug wear off on their own after a while?” Zhang Rou asked tentatively.
Jiang Chen shook his head.
“The effects will eventually fade, but as time passes, the drug will paralyze her nervous system before it completely leaves her body.
By the time the drug wears off, she might fall into a deep coma, or worse, she might never wake up.”
“Who the hell creates these damn drugs?!” Zhang Rou cursed, glancing around nervously.
“Well, even if you have to do that, we can’t do it out here in the open.
Why don’t we find somewhere else?”
