The barren wilderness was indeed no place to get down to business.
After a brief discussion, Jiang Chen and Zhang Rou came to a decision.
Jiang Chen would ride the heavy motorcycle with the unconscious woman, while Zhang Rou would follow on her electric scooter.
The three of them then set off toward the town.
At first, the ride was steady, and Jiang Chen managed to pace himself to wait for Zhang Rou.
But as they went on, the situation slipped out of his control.
The drug was taking full effect on the beauty behind him.
Her body burned with a feverish heat, and she sank deeper into unconsciousness, unable to even sit upright.
Jiang Chen had to steer the bike while supporting her weight, causing the motorcycle to wobble dangerously.
Frowning, Jiang Chen called out to Zhang Rou, “I need to find a place for her immediately.
We’ll catch up by phone later!”
“Okay!
I’ll follow behind and go buy the seeds while I’m at it,” Zhang Rou replied.
Jiang Chen nodded and gunned the engine.
In just a few moments, they vanished from Zhang Rou’s sight.
With her face flushed pink, Zhang Rou muttered to herself, “Makes sense.
It’d be super awkward for everyone if someone else was watching them do that.” She shook her head.
“But if he sleeps with that woman, what about Yanran?” Her mind was a jumbled mess, and for a moment, Zhang Rou didn’t even dare to think about the consequences.
While she pedaled forward, lost in her wild thoughts, Jiang Chen and the beauty had already entered the town.
Baiyun Town wasn’t exactly backward, but it was far from wealthy.
Such a flashy, heavy motorcycle roaring down the streets naturally drew a lot of attention.
Seeing a handsome young man ferrying a breathtaking beauty made countless men cast looks of pure envy.
Jiang Chen, however, was miserable.
Not only could he not sink his teeth into the feast sitting right in front of him, but he also had to maintain his high speed while ensuring the woman didn’t tumble off the bike.
He scanned the streets for a pharmacy or a clinic as he rode, but even after reaching the end of the block, there wasn’t a single one in sight.
Turning into a small alleyway, Jiang Chen finally brought the bike to a halt.
He took a deep breath.
Seeing the woman’s flushed face and deeply comatose state, his brow furrowed.
“If I delay this any longer, she’ll really end up in a vegetative state.”
He was still stuck with the same two options: either sleep with her, or find the necessary medicinal herbs right away.
Luo Yanran’s face instantly flashed through Jiang Chen’s mind, making him immediately dismiss the thought.
That left only the second option.
Taking another deep breath, he peered down the alley.
As his gaze swept over the surroundings, a relieved smile broke across his face.
“It seems the Heavenly Lord couldn’t bear to see me suffer after all!” With that, he scooped her up and strode toward an inconspicuous traditional Chinese medicine shop up ahead.
It was a crude, rundown little pharmacy.
The owner sat lazily by the door, staring at his phone, looking bored out of his mind.
“I need some medicine!” As he spoke, Jiang Chen carried the beauty inside and placed her on the Old Sha sofa nearby.
The owner, who had been fiddling with his phone, froze for a second.
He clearly hadn’t expected any actual business.
Glancing at Jiang Chen, he hurriedly stepped behind the counter and smiled.
“What can I get for you, handsome?”
“One mace of Polygonum multiflorum, half a root of Bitter Ginseng, two maces of rosemary, and two slices of vinegar residue,” Jiang Chen said.
Hearing this prescription, the owner raised an eyebrow.
He looked from Jiang Chen to the flushed beauty and shook his head.
“You young people today sure know how to play wild!”
“This is a matter of life and death!” Jiang Chen snapped.
“Can you stop philosophizing for a second?”
“What’s the matter?
You have the guts to do it, but you’re afraid of people talking?” The owner gave Jiang Chen a sidelong glance, his face full of disdain.
Jiang Chen shot him an exasperated glare.
“None of your damn business.
Just get the medicine!
It’s not like I’m not paying you!”
“Alright, alright.” The owner wasn’t angry.
He seemed to have seen it all before and wasn’t surprised by this sort of thing.
After fetching the requested herbs, he even extracted the necessary medicinal juices and arranged everything on a nearby table.
“Seeing as you can name the ingredients, you must know a thing or two about traditional Chinese medicine.
Are you doing this yourself, or do you want my help?”
“I’ll do it myself!” With that, Jiang Chen took out his Silver Needles, dipped them in the medicinal juice, and began to administer acupuncture to the beauty.
“Doing acupuncture through her clothes?
Instead, he stuck around, fully intending to feast his eyes.
After all, it wasn’t every day you got to see a woman this beautiful.
To his disappointment, Jiang Chen was actually performing the acupuncture right through her clothing.
Jiang Chen ignored him entirely.
As a man, he certainly wanted to lift her clothes.
Not only would it allow for better treatment, but it would also be quite the visual treat.
However, this prescription acted fast.
He didn’t want the woman to wake up, find herself exposed in front of two grown men, and throw a massive fit.
The owner curled his lip.
“Young man, hitting the wrong acupoint can be fatal.”
“Can you give it a rest?” Jiang Chen said impatiently.
“Fine, but if someone dies, it’s got nothing to do with me!” The owner waved his hand dismissively, sat back down, and returned to his phone.
A moment later, just as the owner was thoroughly engrossed in a short video on his screen, a string of curses erupted from inside the shop.
“You pervert, get away from me!”
The sharp, feminine shout rang out clearly.
The owner hurriedly locked his phone and rushed over.
The beautiful woman had already regained consciousness.
Her clothes were slightly rumpled, but they didn’t look like they had been taken off.
This actually surprised the owner a little.
He was amazed that Jiang Chen’s acupuncture had actually worked through the layers of fabric.
As the owner marveled at this, Jiang Chen pinched the bridge of his nose and muttered, “If I had known you were going to throw a tantrum the second you woke up, I really should have done something to you earlier!”
“Like they say: ignore an elder’s advice, and you’ll pay the price!” The owner chimed in with a mutter of his own, “If you had listened to me earlier, neither of us would’ve lost out!”
Hearing this, the beauty frowned and asked, “Did you really not do anything to me?”
“He definitely didn’t do anything just now.
As for before he got here?
I wouldn’t know,” the owner answered helpfully.
Jiang Chen shook his head.
“I didn’t do anything before, either.”
“Who can say for sure?” The owner blinked innocently, adopting the posture of a bystander eager to watch the world burn.
Jiang Chen glared at him.
“Shut your mouth!”
“If you have the guts to do it, you should have the guts to admit it!” The owner quipped, then smiled at the beauty.
“Just letting you know, none of this has anything to do with me.”
The beauty shot the owner a withering glare before turning her gaze back to Jiang Chen.
“Where is that other guy from earlier?”
