Is this appropriate?”

“Thank her?” Lin Yu scoffed.

SLAP!

SLAP!

Unwilling to listen to Dong Liya’s nonsense, he delivered a quick forehand and backhand slap to her face.

The blows left her ears ringing, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth, and her teeth feeling loose.

A wave of killing intent washed over Dong Liya, and she began to tremble uncontrollably.

“Dong Liya, this is just the beginning.”

Recalling what his sister had endured over the past two years, Lin Yu was overcome with the impulse to kill Dong Liya with a single slap.

Seeing that Lin Yu had apparently ignored every word she and Dong Liya had just said—and had even dared to hit Liya—Lu Chunxue shrieked and pointed at him.

“Lin Yu, you’re not a fucking man!

No matter what, Liya was your ex-girlfriend!

For the sake of your past relationship, you shouldn’t have laid a hand on her.”

“Do you have any idea who took care of your sister during the two years you were inside?”

Lu Chunxue had no idea what Dong Liya and Xie Mingcheng had done to He Xiaoqi over the past two years.

She simply thought Lin Yu was a viciously ungrateful person.

Lin Yu glanced at Dong Liya, then roared at Lu Chunxue, “Why don’t you ask her just how she took care of my sister for the past two years?”

“She’s blind in both eyes, has lost all feeling in her legs, and can only live her life in a wheelchair!

This is all thanks to her, to Dong Liya!”

Lin Yu’s body trembled violently with rage.

His fists were clenched so tightly that his knuckles turned white.

Lu Chunxue turned to Dong Liya in shock.

“Liya, is what he’s saying true?”

Dong Liya didn’t dare to look at Lin Yu.

She hid behind Lu Chunxue and burst into tears.

She sobbed heartbrokenly, her hands gripping Lu Chunxue’s shoulders tightly as she choked out, “Chunxue, do you really think I’m that kind of person?”

“I can’t even bring myself to kill a fish at home.

How could I possibly do something so cruel to his sister?”

“He was always like this.

Whenever he was in a bad mood, he’d just find any excuse to take his anger out on me.”

Lu Chunxue nodded.

She didn’t doubt Dong Liya’s words in the slightest.

After all, they had been friends for so many years.

As for Lin Yu, she only grew more furious and disdainful.

“Liya, call Mingcheng,” Lu Chunxue said, turning to Dong Liya.

There was no other choice now but to get Xie Mingcheng involved.

Dong Liya froze for a moment.

She hesitated, worried that Xie Mingcheng might also get hurt if he came.

But she couldn’t stomach the humiliation, so she pulled out her phone and dialed his number.

“Liya, what’s wrong?”

The moment she heard Xie Mingcheng’s voice, all of Dong Liya’s pent-up grievances came pouring out.

“Mingcheng,” she wailed, “I came to Chunxue’s birthday party and ran into Lin Yu!

I didn’t do anything to provoke him, but he just walked up and hit me.”

“Where are you now?

If it’s not too much trouble, can you come over?”

“And bring some people with you,” she added, her voice breaking into sobs.

On the other end, Xie Mingcheng flew into a rage upon hearing that Lin Yu had hit Dong Liya.

“Fuck!

Last time he brought that woman to our house to make a scene, and now he dares to hit you?

I guess I’ve been too damn lenient with him.”

“Where are you?

I’m bringing people over now.”

Dong Liya sobbed, “I’m at the Azure Horizon.”

“Alright, you wait for me right there.

I’m on my way.” After hanging up, Xie Mingcheng immediately dialed another number and paid to round up seven or eight street thugs.

As it happened, he was already nearby, so he frantically led the group toward the Azure Horizon.

Dong Liya put her phone away.

Knowing that Xie Mingcheng was bringing backup gave her a huge boost of confidence.

She looked at Lin Yu, her previously timid demeanor gone, and snarled through gritted teeth, “Lin Yu, you’d better not go anywhere!

Mingcheng is on his way.

Let’s see how arrogant you can be then.”

Lin Yu had been about to go back upstairs—he still had his own dinner to attend—but upon hearing that Xie Mingcheng was coming, he stopped in his tracks.

He looked at Dong Liya and sneered.

“So, Xie Mingcheng is coming?

Good.

I’ll wait for him right here.”

Dong Liya and Lu Chunxue both shot Lin Yu a venomous glare.

They said nothing, both eagerly anticipating Xie Mingcheng’s swift arrival.

A few minutes later, Xie Mingcheng burst into the Azure Horizon with seven or eight thugs in tow.

The manager of the Azure Horizon, Manager Huang, had just come downstairs.

Xing Tianlong had instructed him to find someone, and that’s when he ran into Xie Mingcheng’s group.

He recognized Xie Mingcheng, who often brought friends to the Azure Horizon for dinner and was considered a regular.

But it was obvious that Xie Mingcheng wasn’t here to eat this time.

Manager Huang’s brow furrowed, and his expression immediately soured.

“Eldest Young Master Xie,” he said disapprovingly, “what is the meaning of this?”

Xie Mingcheng was taken aback to see Manager Huang.

This was Xing Tianlong’s establishment, and he didn’t dare throw his weight around in front of the manager.

He quickly adopted a polite tone.

“Manager Huang, it’s like this.

Someone was giving my girlfriend a hard time here, and I’ve brought some people to deal with it.”

“I hope you can do me a small favor, Manager Huang, and let me handle this.

And please rest assured, I promise we won’t lay a hand on the guy inside the Azure Horizon.”

Xie Mingcheng was, after all, a regular at the Azure Horizon and held a premium VIP card.

A certain amount of face had to be given.

Besides, the man had promised not to get violent inside the restaurant, so Manager Huang nodded.

“Very well.

Go resolve your issue.”

Xie Mingcheng quickly replied, “Thank you, Manager Huang.” Then he turned to his men, “All right, you guys are with me.

Let’s go find Lin Yu.

I’m going to teach him a lesson today.”
