Once outside, Lu Chunxue felt the strange looks from the finance department employees, and it made her very uncomfortable.

Apparently, an employee who was using the restroom had seen what happened in the hallway.

They hadn’t dared to show themselves then, but they had gone back and told their colleagues all about it!Full novel: The Peerless Mighty Dragon — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The large, swollen red marks on their faces made it obvious they had been beaten.

They wanted to find something to cover up with, too ashamed to be seen.

“Man, Manager Lu’s birthday party almost turned into a funeral!

Good thing I sensed something was wrong when I was in the restroom and stayed far away.

If I had been dragged into it, who knows what horrible things might have happened!”

The employee who had witnessed the event was still shaken.

“Why was Brother Long so furious today?

He even got involved himself?”

“I don’t know the details.

When I saw what was happening, Manager Lu and the other two were slapping their own faces!”

“Shh, keep your voice down.

Don’t let Manager Lu hear you.”

The finance department staff were all whispering among themselves.

Though their voices were low, Lu Chunxue and her companions overheard bits and pieces, leaving them furious and humiliated.

Dong Liya had it slightly easier, since she wasn’t an employee of Dingsheng Group, after all.

Chen Luo and Lu Chunxue, however, had to see these people every day.

How could they possibly face them now!

“Damn you, Lin Yu!

I’ll never let you get away with this,” Dong Liya cursed, viciously kicking a nearby trash can.

“Liya, calm down,” Lu Chunxue said, suppressing her own anger.

“Have you forgotten he’s still one of my employees?”

“I just don’t get it.

Why would Xing Tianlong be so good to Lin Yu?” Dong Liya vented, kicking so hard she broke the heel of her shoe.

“Could he really have some sort of connection to Brother Long?”

Clutching his arm, Chen Luo said hatefully, “I don’t get it either.

Lin Yu is just some nobody, yet he has a man like Xing Tianlong protecting him!”

Lu Chunxue’s brow furrowed as she suddenly recalled something.

“Liya,” she said, “don’t you remember what Mingcheng told us over dinner?

He said his dad heard that Xing Tianlong deliberately put out the word a while ago that Lin Yu was Big Beard’s life-saver.

He was sending a message to everyone in Guyang City, both legitimate and otherwise, to stay sharp.”

“And not to mess with Lin Yu.”

Dong Liya froze, the memory returning to her.

“That’s right, Mingcheng did say that,” she said.

“I didn’t know who Big Beard was back then.

Mingcheng later told me he’s Xing Tianlong’s father.”

“I didn’t think much of it at the time.

Who could’ve known that the Lin Yu he was talking about was *this* Lin Yu!”

“Lin Yu must have stepped in some serious dog-shit luck to have saved Big Beard!

Now that Xing Tianlong is protecting him, who would dare to make a move?”

Dong Liya was extremely frustrated; she had been planning to get even with Lin Yu.

Lu Chunxue sneered.

“Xing Tianlong is just repaying a favor.

I bet once the debt is paid, he’ll stop protecting Lin Yu.”

“Hmph, you’re right!

I refuse to believe Xing Tianlong can protect him forever!

Lin Yu, you just wait!” The more Dong Liya stewed, the angrier she became, her lips trembling with rage.

“Alright, let’s just let Lin Yu be arrogant for a while.”

“Chen Luo, you should go to the hospital and get your arm set.

We’ll bill the medical expenses as a work-related injury.”

“And the rest of you, don’t just stand there gawking.

The birthday party is canceled.

Go home.”

Lu Chunxue had no desire to stick around and be the butt of her employees’ jokes.

After giving her orders, she fled the scene with Dong Liya and Chen Luo and headed to the hospital.

Inside the Celestial Room, other than Xing Tianlong, Yu Guangrong and Tian Zhenhao were of course oblivious to what had just transpired outside.

Over ten minutes had passed since Lin Yu stepped out, and the two men waiting were growing impatient.

“My sincerest apologies.

I’m sorry to have kept you all waiting.” Lin Yu smiled apologetically as he re-entered the room.

“Mr.

Xing, I have other business to attend to, so I’ll be taking my leave,” Tian Zhenhao said.

He shot Lin Yu a look, snorted, and walked straight out.

Yu Guangrong also rose, smiling.

“Since our business is more or less concluded, I should be heading back as well.”

Yu Guangrong left the room, pointedly ignoring Lin Yu.

“Take care, gentlemen.” Xing Tianlong saw them out of the private room.

When he returned, he was in a foul mood.

‘Dammit.

If one of them wasn’t a dignitary and the other a business partner, why the hell would I have given them any face?’

“Brother Lin, I’m really sorry.

I was hoping to help you build some connections, but I never thought they’d…”

Lin Yu smiled.

“It’s fine.

If there’s nothing else, I’ll be on my way as well.”

“Let me give you a ride,” Xing Tianlong offered.

Once outside, Lin Yu waved him off.

“There’s no need to trouble yourself, Brother Long.

I have to make a stop somewhere before I go home, so I’d only end up making you wait.”

“Alright then.

Come by and hang out whenever you like.” Xing Tianlong saw Lin Yu to the main entrance before heading back into the lobby.

“Manager Huang?”

Manager Huang immediately trotted over to Xing Tianlong, bowing obsequiously.

“Brother Long, you called for me?”

Xing Tianlong nodded.

“Remember this.

If my Brother Lin comes here to eat in the future and anything like this happens again, you are to call me immediately.”

“Yes, Brother Long,” Manager Huang replied with a quick nod.

He resolved then and there that the next time Lin Yu came, he would treat him like royalty.

After leaving the Haitian Pavilion, Lin Yu made his way to a quaint, old-fashioned street.

This was Guyang City’s famous traditional medicine street.

It was said that for any complex illness Western medicine couldn’t cure, you could be cured as soon as the medicine was administered—as long as you found the right practitioner.

The most famous clinic on the street was Jishi Hall, owned by the Tong family.

Before, Lin Yu hadn’t had the money, so he’d been forced to postpone getting the medicine for his sister’s eyes.

But now, with the one million yuan left over from buying the house in hand, he could finally set about acquiring the necessary herbs.

The problem was, the ingredients Lin Yu required were all quite rare.

He wasn’t even sure if a few of them could be found anywhere in all of Guyang City, which was why he had chosen to try Jishi Hall.

“I need to fill a prescription,” Lin Yu said after walking up to the counter, addressing a long-haired girl who was busy weighing herbs.

The girl glanced up at Lin Yu before lowering her head to continue her work.

She wore a white lab coat, but it couldn’t conceal her graceful figure.

Her face was even more stunning, beautiful enough to topple kingdoms, and the sight left Lin Yu momentarily dazed.

‘Maybe a lot of the patients who come here aren’t just here for treatment, but for her?’

“Do you have a prescription?”

“I do.” Lin Yu placed a piece of paper filled with the names of the ingredients on the counter.

Once the girl finished weighing and packaging the herbs she’d been working on, she picked up Lin Yu’s list.

As she read it, her brow furrowed.

“Sir, we have most of the herbs on your list here at Jishi Hall, but there are a few we don’t carry.”

She said, eyeing Lin Yu suspiciously.

“There are also three ingredients on here that I don’t even recognize…”

“How about I get my grandfather to come take a look?”

Lin Yu nodded.

“Okay, thank you.”

The girl turned and disappeared into an inner hall.

A moment later, she returned to the counter with an elderly man whose hair and beard were both snow-white.

“Grandpa, this is the customer.

The herbs he’s asking for are very peculiar; there are even a few I’ve never heard of.”

She finished, sticking her tongue out playfully.
