“Mr Elian?”

The word repeated in my ears several times.

I slowly turned around.

There he was.

Tall.

Strong.

Powerful.

Handsome as hell.

The alpha who had made the last few hours hell for me.

My eyes flicked over him, then fell on the delicate-looking young man standing beside him…

arm in arm.

The young man was obviously an omega.

Beautiful and lean.

Light emerald eyes filled with immense softness.

I returned my attention to Sébastien and revealed a faint smile.

“Mr.

Sébastien.”

No matter what, I couldn’t directly curse him out for what he had done to me.

Even though I wanted nothing more than to tear that face into pieces…

Sébastien glanced at my phone and then at my face.

A small, polite smile graced his face.

“Planning to lodge?”

Wasn’t that obvious enough?

“Yes.”

He nodded.

“We are doing the same.”

My brows raised slightly.

I glanced at the softly smiling omega and frowned.

Lodging together?

Had their relationship advanced that much already?

Looking at the omega, he didn’t seem like one of us.

He looked more reserved and quite…

obedient.

He didn’t seem like the type that would casually share a room with an alpha unless they had gotten to that stage.

Wow.

Sébastien really moved fast.

My smile involuntarily deepened as I looked at the two again.

They looked really compatible.

“Oh, alright.”

“Sébastien, who is he?”

I heard the omega ask him.

I blinked, suddenly interested in how Sébastien would respond.

Would he tell him I was his one-night stand?

Or would he say something else?

Though I wouldn’t really mind if he told the omega the truth, I wondered if he would dare anyway.

Also, what would be the sweet omega’s reaction when he found out?

I pressed my lips in a thin line, suppressing the chuckle that tried to escape.

Sébastien’s expression didn’t change.

Instead, he lowered his eyes to look at the omega who seemed to only reach his shoulder, and surprisingly, his eyes softened.

It wasn’t the wild softness of that night.

Neither was it the lustful gentleness that filled his gaze when he slammed into me…

Rather, it was the kind of softness that could make anyone’s heart race rapidly.

The kind of gaze that seemed to scream exclusivity.

For a moment, I felt like I no longer existed in their world.

The two looked at each other with overflowing love and gentleness; it was almost blinding.

Fortunately, I wasn’t like others.

Such scenes don’t move me at all.

I waited patiently at the side while they spoke endlessly with their eyes.

Closing my eyes, I silently perceived the pheromone, and the slight heaviness in my belly dissipated.

The pheromone coursed through my body, filling me inside and out.

My expression relaxed.

Cough.

I opened my eyes to see Sébastien clearing his throat.

“This is Mr Elian.

He’s a friend.”

Friend?

How were we friends?

Oh, the kind that shared a bed?

The kind that cried all night?

Or perhaps the kind that…

damn it!

This beast had even impregnated me, and he dared to think he could introduce me as his friend?

What gave him the right?

I inexplicably felt annoyed.

“Mr Elian, this is Karl, my partner.”

“Nice to meet you, Mr Elian.” The omega, Karl, said with a big smile on his pretty face.

He stepped forward and reached out his hand.

I hesitated for a split second before taking it.

“It’s my pleasure, Mr Karl.” Not like I had a choice.

Karl’s smile deepened.

“It’s my first time seeing a friend of Sébastien.

He rarely makes friends.

You must be really special, Mr Elian.”

My lips twitched.

Of course.

Anyone with eyes would know how special I was.

Battling the moment with a sweet smile on my face, I nodded, agreeing with him.

“Yes, he is.

Mr Elian is a very smart man.

He helped me a lot with the construction project I told you about.”

I tilted my head to look at Sébastien.

“He’s one of the smartest people I know.”

My eyes flickered ever-so-slightly.

A weird emotion grew in my chest, making me feel uncomfortable.

I stared at Sébastien, unable to look away.

His smile…

for once, it looked really genuine.

He really seemed to think so about me.

Then, my lips curled, revealing a small smile.

This time, it wasn’t a pretense.

It wasn’t fake, either.

My eyes softened considerably as I smiled gently at him.

“Thanks, Mr Sébastien.” He was also the one with the sharpest eyes I’d ever seen in my life.

No one else had found out my talent.

Yet, he did only after meeting me a few times.

No wonder he was the youngest tycoon in the country.

No one could beat him.

I chuckled.

“Congratulations on the contract.”

I removed my hand from Karl’s, who also took a step back.

The two hooked arms again.

“If you don’t mind, can we have dinner together when you’re free?”

Dinner?

It wasn’t like I had a nightlife anymore.

“How about tonight?” At least there would be something to look up to.

Sébastien shared a glance with Karl.

The two nodded at the same time.

“Okay then.

I’ll text you the location.”

I agreed with a smile.

He didn’t need to know that his contact was no longer on my phone.

Well, we might never meet again after tonight’s dinner anyway.

I watched as Sébastien took a card from the receptionist, and after a nod, he left with Karl.

The two entered an elevator, disappearing from my sight.

I shrugged and turned to look at the receptionist who had been attending to me earlier.

“Have you booked the room, please?

Can I go in now?”

The lady shook her head.

“No, Mister.

We couldn’t get money out.

It wasn’t working.”

My brows creased.

What was that supposed to mean?

As she said, they really hadn’t withdrawn anything, and there was no message of withdrawal on my phone, either.

However, something was strange.

My balance seemed greyed out.

I frowned.

What was that?

Ignoring the heaviness in my chest and the understanding that was slowly creeping up to me, I tried sending some money out of my bank, but nothing worked.

Frozen.

My money had been frozen.

I checked the two other accounts, and yet, none was different.

My body suddenly trembled.

Coldness filled my veins, pushing against every corner of my organs.

He froze my cards.

My father really froze everything.

Both my personal savings and the one he’d been giving to me over the years- he really froze it all.

What was he doing?

Pushing me to death?

Forcing me to fish out the father of the child?

My eyes snapped toward the elevator where Sébastien and his omega had disappeared.

Anger clouded my gaze.

It was all his fault.

If he hadn’t been too strong and potent, things wouldn’t have fallen to this extent.

I closed my eyes and pressed a hand on my temple, trying hard to suppress the headache that was slowly assaulting me.

“Alright.

Thanks.” I forced out a smile, turned around, and left the hotel.

With my accounts frozen and no other way out for me, I couldn’t even book a cab anymore.

I wandered around the hotel for a while, staring at the afternoon sky with weariness in my eyes.

I’d never fallen this low in my life.

Things changed really too fast, so fast that I couldn’t catch up.

I felt exhausted from within.

But it was impossible to stay by the roadside forever.

Returning home was impossible either.

I looked at the passing cars, thinking deeply about where to go.

It seemed like I had lost everything within a day.

I sighed for the umpteenth time.

Actually…

I hadn’t been counting.

Ring.

The sound of my phone ringing snapped me out of my thoughts.

I brought out my phone, and my eyes widened at the name on the screen.

“Hey, Noah.”

“Baby, where are you?”

My lips involuntarily twitched, but I suppressed a retort.

“I’m in front of Excellence Hotel.”

“Hotel?”

“Yeah, I’m homeless now.

Come pick me up.”

“Wait for me.

I’ll be on my way right away!”

Hearing the urgency in his voice, my heart felt a little relaxed, and I ended the call.

Lowering my eyes to my feet, I began counting.

If Noah wasn’t here by the time I counted twenty, I would stop being his friend and disappear from his life forever.

He would have to beg me for a long time before I returned.

I rubbed my arms roughly, trying to rub off the coldness.

It was winter, and though it was afternoon, the weather didn’t seem any better.

Fortunately, it wasn’t freezing.

I looked around me, inexplicably feeling lonely.

My mind wandered; the image of that alpha…

his cold grey eyes smiling softly as he introduced me to his omega, appeared in my mind.

My lips tightened.

Nonsense.

Why would that even cross my mind again?

A black sports car stopped before me.

Seeing the figure in the car, a smile finally bloomed on my face.

Fuck the world.

Fuck sadness.
