The next day, Yunyu stared blankly at the ceiling after waking up. He had overestimated his control over this body after getting drunk; how could he have so directly kissed the man like that?
He truly was blinded by beauty.
Thinking of Shi Jingchi’s top tier handsome face, Yunyu simply let the matter go.
Surely no one could have resisted; he had simply made a mistake that anyone under the sun would make.
Yet Shi Jingchi’s behavior last night was vastly different from what Yunyu had imagined. Who would have thought that the one most capable of seducing others turned out to be the most pure hearted, a truly extreme contrast.
Having finally managed to pick out the script for the next world for his host, 609 returned only to witness another scene that made everything go dark before its eyes.
Why was its host tangled up with the main character’s man yet again!
“Host! This, this…”
Hearing his poor system stuttering to the point of losing speech, Yunyu showed a rare burst of kindness and felt quite amused.
“I do not know how it ended up like this either, 609. You should just stay by my side all the time from now on.”
609 agreed readily without a second thought. Watching the system playback of Shi Jingchi getting his host drunk, it wished it could crack open the skull of the person who had defiled its poor host.
Why did everyone and their mother have their eyes glued to its host!
Before the human system pair could exchange any further words, Shi Jingchi returned to the room.
“Sorry, the director called me over for a matter just now.” Shi Jingchi placed the takeout container on the small table and looked at Mo Yunyu with a face full of concern.
Mo Yunyu sat up from the bed, looking somewhat dazed. “I got drunk last night?”
Looking at Shi Jingchi’s face, Mo Yunyu vaguely recalled being confessed to by the other man last night. He hadn’t been heavily intoxicated, and thinking a bit further made it very easy to remember how, under the other’s temptation, he couldn’t help kissing him on a whim.
The more he looked at Shi Jingchi’s sanctimonious face, the more humiliated Mo Yunyu felt. The more he thought about it, the angrier he got, so he simply turned his head away, stubbornly refusing to look at him.
“Angry?” Shi Jingchi didn’t mind in the least, walking up to the bedside and forcibly intruding into Mo Yunyu’s line of sight. “It is all my fault. Don’t be mad.”
With that, Shi Jingchi picked up a pre-prepared cup of warm water with a straw inserted and brought it to Mo Yunyu’s lips.
Though deeply reluctant, Mo Yunyu lowered his head to soothe his parched throat from a hangover. After taking a few sips, he felt like he could function again.
“Ahem. It is all your fault! Do you even know what shame means?” The person on the bed spoke with a raspy voice, fully displaying the capricious nature of a young master.
“Then let me help you up to have some food?” Shi Jingchi raised no objections to Mo Yunyu shifting the blame entirely onto him. Instead, he gently ruffled the other’s hair, much like smoothing down the fur of an agitated little cat.
Mo Yunyu was indeed hungry. Assisted by Shi Jingchi to sit up, he realized he was wearing a very well fitting set of pajamas. He didn’t even need to use his brain to figure out just how long Shi Jingchi had been harboring designs on him.
“You scheming fox!”
Hearing this description, Shi Jingchi accepted it gracefully as he set up the small table over the bed. “If I didn’t act like a fox, how could I ever get you to accept me?”
Mo Yunyu rolled his eyes at him, then contentedly accepted being fed. After all, since the guy had seduced him to this extent, what was wrong with having him serve a meal?
Shi Jingchi adored this go with the flow yet pampered demeanor of Mo Yunyu, the affection in his eyes practically overflowing. But Mo Yunyu was utterly dense when it came to romance, simply happy to focus on eating.
“I charged your phone for you; looks like someone is calling.” Shi Jingchi wiped Mo Yunyu’s mouth and handed the phone over.
The moment he saw his older sister’s caller ID, Mo Yunyu gave a start and scrambled right out of bed.
“What’s wrong?” Shi Jingchi was somewhat confused, but still supported Mo Yunyu to keep him from stumbling.
“I promised my sister I’d go home today.”
Mo Yunyu panicked. If he ruined his sister’s work schedule and made her fly into a rage, he would be completely finished!
Amidst Mo Yunyu’s one man chaos, Shi Jingchi calmly helped him get dressed and even drove him right to his doorstep.
“Do you want me to help…”
Before Shi Jingchi could finish, Mo Yunyu cut him off. “No need!”
Watching the other scurry away with a fluttering heart, Shi Jingchi sighed. He could sense that Mo Yunyu didn’t resist his intimacy, but he could also tell that the other had no intention of reciprocating his romantic feelings.
He couldn’t tell if the guy was entirely emotionally clueless or simply didn’t like him at all.
Carrying this melancholy mood, Shi Jingchi turned his car around and drove away.
On the other end, Mo Yunyu sneaked through the front gates and, unsurprisingly, spotted his sister sitting on the living room sofa.
Before Mo Yunyu could even figure out how to address Mo Yunniao, she had already noticed him.
“Where have you been running off to?” Mo Yunniao put down the financial report she was holding without turning her head, and that single sentence alone nearly scared Mo Yunyu into tripping over the carpet.
“Sis…” Mo Yunyu dawdled his way over to the sofa, sitting down right beside Mo Yunniao. Though his favorite family member was his sister, she was also the person he feared the most. “…I accidentally overslept.”
“No next time.”
Mo Yunniao loved two things in life: her family and her work. No matter how much she doted on Mo Yunyu, delaying her work meant he couldn’t escape a tongue lashing.
“I know…” Mo Yunyu aggrievedly pinched the hem of Mo Yunniao’s blouse, though mentally cursing Shi Jingchi a thousand times over.
“Have you eaten?” Mo Yunniao looked closely at Mo Yunyu’s face, noticing how much weight he had lost. Ultimately unable to bear chewing him out, she said with heartache, “You’ve gotten even thinner than last time. Why don’t you just withdraw from the show? Sis will pay the breach of contract penalty for you. If you want to be a star, your sister can fund you, so why suffer through a talent show?”
Realizing he had dodged a bullet, Mo Yunyu let out an internal sigh of relief and wrapped his arms around his sister’s arm. “Because I like it! But I’ll probably lose interest after a little while.”
“Then go play around for a bit longer.” Pinching Mo Yunyu’s cheeks which had lost a lot of their baby fat, Mo Yunniao glanced at her watch. “My flight is at noon, I have to leave soon. Rest up well at home.”
After chatting for a good while with his beloved sister, Mo Yunyu bid her a very reluctant farewell.
Once Mo Yunniao left, Mo Yunyu sprawled on the sofa playing with his phone. Before he even managed to get back up, the doorbell rang.
Thinking his sister might have left something behind, the live in housekeeper opened the door, only to reveal Zuo Yan’s face standing outside.
Ever since they parted ways last time, the two had only exchanged a few brief messages on social messaging apps. Thus, Zuo Yan knew that Mo Yunyu had completely forgotten about that day and that unexpectedly intimate moment.
“Brother Yan? Why are you here?” Mo Yunyu welcomed him inside with a puzzled look.
“I went to the company to find your sister, but her assistant said she came home. What, is your sister not here?” Zuo Yan knew very well that Mo Yunniao had already left; naturally, she wasn’t the target of his visit.
“She just left, said her flight is at noon, though I don’t know where she’s off to.” Mo Yunyu poured Zuo Yan a glass of water, his tone full of regret over missing each other.
“Well, bad timing then.” Zuo Yan accepted the cup, and the moment Mo Yunyu leaned forward, his eyes locked precisely onto an unmissable, vibrant mark on his neck.
Zuo Yan’s fingers subconsciously rubbed against the rim of the cup, the mild and tolerant gaze he usually directed at Mo Yunyu gradually turning chillingly cold.
“What’s that on your neck?”
Lowering his head in confusion before looking back up, Mo Yunyu froze under Zuo Yan’s dangerous gaze. “N… nothing much…”
“Come here.” Catching Mo Yunyu’s wrist, Zuo Yan strode straight toward the bathroom, pulling the other’s collar down with his fingers. “Take a good look.”
Gazing at the red mark on the side of his neck, Mo Yunyu clearly felt his heart skip a beat. The smile on his face turned instantly guilty, and he instinctively covered his neck, stammering an explanation.
“Maybe… maybe I just pressed against something while sleeping…”
Zuo Yan didn’t say a word, his brows furrowed deeply. He turned around and walked back to the living room table, picked up the glass of water, and drained it in one go, trying to suppress the rising displeasure burning in his chest.
Yet Mo Yunyu didn’t know when to back off, piping up cautiously: “Brother Yan…”
Before he could finish piecing together his frantically contrived excuse, Zuo Yan cut him off.
“Come here.”
Even though there were no explicit identity bindings between the two, Zuo Yan had no strict right to meddle in Mo Yunyu’s actions. But the current situation terrified Mo Yunyu, even more terrifying than seeing his sister fly into a rage over delayed work.
“I…”
“Come here.” Zuo Yan frowned. “I won’t say it a third time.”
Mo Yunyu’s fingers gripped the hem of his shirt tightly, his entire body rigid as he cursed Shi Jingchi a few hundred more times in his head.
With trepidation clawing at his heart, he inched forward toward Zuo Yan step by small step.
The moment he got close, Zuo Yan reached out, yanked him by the arm, and flung him onto the sofa.
The world suddenly inverted before his eyes, and Mo Yunyu let out a sharp cry of alarm. By the time he registered what happened, Zuo Yan was already looming over him, an unreadable anger burning in his eyes, an expression of emotion Mo Yunyu had never seen from him before.
“Brother Yan…” Mo Yunyu whined out a plea for mercy, only to shrink back under the other’s gaze, freezing in his fallen posture and desperately avoiding eye contact.
Without hesitation, Zuo Yan pulled aside Mo Yunyu’s clothes, exposing his porcelain white skin to the air.
The warped possessiveness smoothed over for a single second, though it was truly only a second.
Though Mo Yunyu knew he was completely clean right now, his face still burned like fire. Being inspected so thoroughly by Zuo Yan made him feel like dying of shame.
“Which room is yours?”
Zuo Yan pulled Mo Yunyu up and straightened his clothes, but Mo Yunyu sensed an impending storm. He stiffened his neck and shook off the hand.
“Leave me alone!”
Having spat that out, Mo Yunyu didn’t dare look at Zuo Yan another second. Overwhelmed by embarrassment and anger, he simply turned on his heel and stormed off.
The next second, however, his wrist was snatched by Zuo Yan, dragging him up to the second floor straight toward the bedrooms.
How could Zuo Yan possibly not know which room belonged to Mo Yunyu? He had maintained some semblance of rationality and kept up the gentle brother in law persona until now, but with his temper flaring, he dropped the act entirely.
All the way up, Mo Yunyu struggled fiercely, but the man consumed by possessiveness possessed terrifying strength, making it impossible to shake him off.
Once inside the room, Zuo Yan didn’t stop. Instead, he yanked open the bathroom door and shoved Mo Yunyu straight into the bathtub.
“What are you doing?!” Panic stricken, Mo Yunyu couldn’t fathom what kind of madness had possessed Zuo Yan.
With a cold face, Zuo Yan turned on the faucet. Though the water running was warm, Mo Yunyu’s heart turned completely ice cold.
“You’re asking me what I’m doing? I should be asking you what you’ve been up to.”
Mo Yunyu was soaked head to toe, his clothes clinging wetly to his body. Weeks of high intensity training had carved his youthful figure into sharp, flawless curves that were now laid bare before Zuo Yan’s eyes.
“What right do you have to treat me like this!” Mo Yunyu thrashed in the bathtub, trying to stand up, only to be pushed down by Zuo Yan, submerging him entirely in the rising water with no means of escape.
By the time he sat on the bed wrapped in a bath towel, Mo Yunyu still hadn’t recovered from the ordeal of being forcibly given a bath.
Watching the thoroughly clean person who no longer carried the trace of any stray man, the turmoil in Zuo Yan’s chest finally settled.
His hand gently brushed across Mo Yunyu’s red, aggrieved eyes, restoring his reliable, gentle brother in law persona.
“Yunyu, no next time.”
Hearing this, Mo Yunyu finally snapped back to reality and nodded obediently.
“Don’t cry. I’ll make things clear to your sister; after all, it’s just a family arranged marriage. But I genuinely have feelings for you, so the engagement partner can easily be changed to you. We’ll get engaged as soon as you finish filming the show.”
Zuo Yan dried Mo Yunyu’s hair with the bathroom hair dryer, then drove him back to the production quarters.
Before leaving, Zuo Yan pinched the nape of Mo Yunyu’s neck, much like a large cat gently biting a kitten’s most vulnerable spot.
“Remember my words, and remember to keep your distance from stray men out there.”
Watching Zuo Yan’s car drive away, Yunyu pulled himself out of his daze.
Reflecting on Zuo Yan’s words, he raised an eyebrow with keen interest.
So he’s that kind of character, huh.
