Madam Hua was left speechless by her retort.

Feng Shuying then turned to Lin Shuzheng and said, "Uncle, this maid is at your and Aunt's disposal. I have no objections whatsoever."

Lin Shuzheng’s affairs had been interrupted all day, leaving him feeling extremely irritable. He declared, "This maid committed insubordination by attempting to assassinate her mistress. The maid’s mind had finally cleared slightly, but she was dazed, completely unaware of why she was even there.

She pleaded with Xu Shi, "Madam, save me!"

Upon hearing this, Xu Shi only wanted to see her dead.

When the maid had charged at her with a knife earlier tonight, Xu Shi had been scared out of her wits and had sustained several minor injuries. How dare this little slut beg her for mercy now!

She snapped angrily, "What are you all standing around for? Drag her away and kill her!"

The maid struggled desperately, trying to say something more, but the older servant women muffled her mouth and dragged her away.

As she was being pulled past Feng Shuying, Feng Shuying watched her with a mocking smile and mouthed the words: "Those who betray their masters deserve no pity!"

In that moment, an intense fear took hold of the maid’s eyes.

The Feng Shuying before her was completely different from the timid girl in her memory!

She struggled with all her might, but such resistance was destined to be futile. She was quickly dragged outside, gagged, and beaten to death.

Feng Shuying’s eyes narrowed slightly. She had no power to change how the people of Lin Fu had bullied the original owner in the past.

But now, she was Feng Shuying, and no one in Lin Fu would lay a finger on her!

They wanted to marry her off to Chu Wang, using her as a stepping stone and wanting her life? Then she would take their lives first!

She would ensure that Lin Fu never knew another day of peace.

The maid’s death didn't cause much of a stir in Lin Fu. The other servants were merely curious as to why she had suddenly charged out to attack Madam Hua and Lin Wanting.

After the maid was dealt with, Feng Shuying reverted to her usual obedient and timid demeanor, carrying a lantern back to her room.

As she reached the entrance, she saw people with lanterns searching for things in her previous living quarters.

The corners of her lips curled slightly. The servants of Lin Fu were just as greedy and disgusting as their masters. Since they treated her so poorly, playing a few tricks on them was merely returning the favor.

Just as she opened the door to go inside, Lin Wanting also returned.

Since they had already dropped all pretenses today, Lin Wanting simply glared at Feng Shuying and moved to push her door open.

Feng Shuying said behind her, "Cousin, leave some room in your actions so we may still meet on good terms later. If you drive things to the extreme, you're only cutting off your own path."

Hearing this, Lin Wanting slammed her lantern onto the ground, and it instantly burst into flames.

She looked at Feng Shuying and said, "Don't think that just because you've been granted a marriage to Chu Wang, you'll be able to live a good life. I might as well tell you plainly—you are as good as dead!"

Feng Shuying played along, saying, "Oh my, I'm so scared!"

Lin Wanting: "…"

Her hands clenched into fists, wanting to slap Feng Shuying.

Feng Shuying pulled a kitchen cleaver out from somewhere. "Both my parents are dead; my life is cheap. If I'm going to die one day, I'll make sure to take a few people down with me. It’ll be less lonely on the road to the Yellow Springs."

Lin Wanting cursed, "Madwoman," and hurried into her room with her maid.

Feng Shuying raised an eyebrow. Her first day after transmigrating had been fulfilling and lively; she liked it quite a bit. She hoped such "fulfilling and lively" days would happen every day in Lin Fu from now on.

After returning to her room, she placed a pile of lime powder above the door and set a special Daomen slipknot on the windowsill using hemp rope.

Only after completing these preparations did she go to bed.

In the middle of the night, she heard a miserable scream from the doorway: "My eyes!"

She lit a lamp and saw a dark figure fleeing from the door.

After the scenes she had caused today and the hundred taels of silver she had taken from Lin Shuzheng, it would be a miracle if the people in the residence stayed quiet.

This was exactly why she had made those arrangements at the doors and windows. She had hoped they wouldn't be needed, but if someone was blind enough to come looking for trouble, she wasn't going to let them off easy.

As it turned out, it hadn't even been that long before someone actually delivered themselves to her door.

Feng Shuying yawned. She felt that if she didn't stir up some trouble now, it would be a disservice to the people in Lin Fu who were so meticulously plotting against her.

She decisively grabbed the copper basin from the corner of the room and began clanging it loudly with a stick.

She shouted at the top of her lungs, "Someone help! Thief! There's a thief in the residence!"

The sound of the stick hitting the copper basin was essentially no different from a gong; it was incredibly loud.

The night was deep and the surroundings were silent. This sudden clanging woke the entire household.

Earlier, just after dark, Lin Shuzheng had been rendered limp by Madam Hua’s screaming. After returning to his room, his concubine had used every trick in the book to finally get him back in the mood.

He had just reached the critical moment when Feng Shuying’s clanging made him go limp once again.

Lin Shuzheng roared in fury, "What is it now?!"

The servant guarding the door answered, "It seems there is a thief at the Young Miss's quarters."

Lin Shuzheng was annoyed to death. It seemed that since she returned today, the residence had seen a fire, a maid attacking her master, and now a thief in the middle of the night. There wasn't a moment of peace.

He had allowed the servants to bully Feng Shuying for years, so he could guess roughly what was happening. Usually, if Feng Shuying was robbed, beaten, or had things stolen, she didn't dare make a sound. For her to cause such a massive commotion this time—she must have gone mad!

He couldn't ignore the matter, so he threw on a robe and walked over, asking, "What happened?"

Feng Shuying replied, "Uncle, you’ve come at just the right time! A thief just entered my room and stole the thousand taels of silver my father left me! When he came in, I threw lime in his eyes. He couldn't have gone far. Uncle, if you search, you'll find him immediately!"

Lin Shuzheng: "…"

She actually had that much silver on her? He had lost a hundred taels to her today, but if he could take that thousand taels from her now, he would still come out ahead.

He said solemnly, "Simply outrageous! To think a thief would enter this residence! Men, search everywhere! Find the thief for me!"

the guards took the order and left.

He then said to Feng Shuying, "The night is late. Go back to your room and rest. Once I catch the thief, I will find a way to get your silver back."

Feng Shuying said aggrievedly, "Uncle must find the thief for me. That was the last of the money my father left for me."

Lin Shuzheng gave a perfunctory response and told her to go back to sleep.

Lin Fu wasn't large, and since the thief’s eyes were injured, it wouldn't be hard to find him.

Feng Shuying didn't care how long it took Lin Shuzheng to find the thief; she simply didn't want him to sleep well and wanted to give him something to do.

Regardless, she hadn't lost a thing. Now, she could finally get some sleep.

She returned to her room and closed the door. But as soon as she turned around, she saw a man lying on his side on her bed, giving her a massive fright!
