Mother Su sent someone to call Su Mengyao downstairs to perform. Su Mengyao carefully dressed herself up before coming down, and at the same time, she instructed someone to bring Su Ni downstairs as well.

When Su Ni heard this, she rolled her eyes. Su Mengyao really never learned her lesson. She actually dared to show off in front of her again. In that case…

Su Ni closed the medical book and stood up.

Su Mengyao was already sitting gracefully at the piano. When she saw Su Ni coming down the stairs, a calculating gleam flashed through her eyes. She lightly brushed her fingers across the keys, playing a beautiful string of notes while casting a provocative glance at Su Ni.

Most of the guests around them were captivated by Su Mengyao’s piano playing, and waves of praise rose from the crowd.

Su Ni leaned against the stair railing and quietly watched Su Mengyao perform. During the time since her return, she had indeed witnessed how hard Su Mengyao had worked. She had practiced day and night in the piano room for the sake of today. Su Mengyao did have some talent, but if she truly wanted to become the future piano master the Su family had proclaimed her to be, she was still a long way off.

When the piece ended, the guests applauded enthusiastically.

Su Mengyao slowly rose to her feet, a smug smile spreading across her face. She looked toward Su Ni and suddenly said, “Sister, today is your birthday too. Would you like to perform a piece as well?”

When the Su family decided to keep Su Mengyao, they publicly claimed that Su Mengyao and Su Ni were twins. In fact, they really had been born on the same day. Otherwise, when the nanny had switched the babies, it would have been impossible for no one to notice for so long.

Wan Hongxin was one of Su Mengyao’s admirers. Upon hearing this, he laughed mockingly.

“I heard that Miss Su grew up in the countryside. I doubt she’s even seen a piano before. Asking her to play would be making things difficult for her. Why don’t you just have her give us a demonstration of farming instead?”

Some of the guests around them burst into laughter as well. Others were wary of Huo Minghui’s presence and only dared to snicker quietly.

As for Huo Minghui? He was more than happy to see Huo Shiyue’s fiancée make a fool of herself. The more humiliating it was, the better.

Su Zhengguo’s face turned livid.

“Didn’t I tell you to have someone stop her?”

Mother Su’s expression was equally unpleasant.

“I did have someone stop her. Who knew how she managed to get out?”

Su Mengyao secretly reveled in the situation, but on the surface, she pretended to be anxious.

“Sister, everyone’s just joking. Don’t take it to heart. But today is both our birthdays. If you don’t perform something, it really would be a little hard to explain.”

Su Ni swept her gaze across the entire room, then slightly raised her chin and looked at Su Mengyao.

“Are you sure you want me to go onstage?”

Su Mengyao was certain that Su Ni had no talents to speak of, and her smugness grew.

“Of course, Sister. This is a great chance for you to show everyone what you can do.”

The corners of Su Ni’s lips curved into an almost imperceptible smile as she walked steadily onto the stage.

Seeing this, Su Mengyao asked, “Are you going to play the piano too, Sister?”

“No.”

Su Ni admitted it without hesitation.

“Pfft!”

“Hahaha!”

The guests immediately burst into laughter. Eager to curry favor with Su Mengyao, Wan Hongxin spared no effort in mocking Su Ni.

“Could it be that Miss Su really plans to give us a demonstration of farming?”

“Hahaha!”

Su Mengyao had achieved exactly what she wanted. She thought smugly that after tonight, the Huo family would probably be even more eager to call off the engagement.

Su Ni’s slender fingers rested on the piano. She looked at Su Mengyao and said slowly, “I really can’t play the piano. But I can play the guzheng.”

Su Mengyao thought she was merely putting on an act.

“You can play the guzheng, Sister? But there isn’t a guzheng prepared for today.”

In truth, she thought Su Ni was doing it deliberately. Su Ni couldn’t play anything at all and had simply chosen an instrument that hadn’t been prepared so she could avoid performing.

“I have one.”

A voice suddenly rang out from below the stage.
