When close friends met again, they naturally had many things to discuss.
Gavin returned to his rented home at 4 AM and fell asleep.
Two hours later, he woke up again.
The neighbor’s rooster crowing woke people up to start their day.
Usually, Gavin would wake up to prepare soy milk, but today there was no time for that.
‘I need to prepare breakfast for Eris,’ Gavin thought groggily as he got up, deciding what to make for breakfast.
Once he had made up his mind, he realized he still had a little time left.
He turned on his computer and took out a business card to input the information.
FF was the most popular social media platform in the world now.
Eventually, Gavin found the address he needed:
Gabild Jop
Gavin controlled the mouse to click [Add Friend] and sent a private message:
Giant Mask: Mr.
Gabild, I am Gavin, Faker’s friend who served you drinks last night.
I am interested in using your services.
Please contact me back.
No messages came back; he would have to wait for Gabild to wake up.
Now Gavin was pondering what he should sell.
He was interested in the auction system for items like wine or liquor that Gabild mentioned last night, allowing bidders to sample the products before the auction begins.
Gavin was sure the drinkers would fall head over heels for the liquor from the magical world.
‘I really wonder how much we can auction off for,’ Gavin mused, hoping for a large sum of money.
Last night, Faker had planned everything for him.
Being a businessman born in the economically driven country of Kang, Gavin trusted Faker’s money-making methods more than his own.
“Three bottles then,” Gavin decided which types of liquor to choose.
Each one was of the highest quality; a single drop would enrapture people indefinitely.
He hoped the premium quality from the magical world would bring in a substantial amount.
“Alright, I’ll make a simple breakfast menu,” Gavin retrieved ingredients from the alternate dimension.
Yesterday, Eris had eaten carrots for two meals, so he took out powdered seaweed.
The breakfast he planned to make for his daughter was pork and seaweed porridge.
The pork was premium meat imported by the Coford family kitchen.
Besides seaweed, he decided to add a bit of ginger.
After choosing the ingredients, Gavin rode his motorcycle to the Coford mansion before the little miss woke up.
He rushed into the kitchen without paying attention to his surroundings, but the change from the previous days was unmistakable – the gaze of the chefs staring at Gavin!
They looked at him with eyes full of accusation, protest, and despair.
‘Why don’t I have ingredients from the magical world?’ The head chef was so envious he was nearly in tears.
‘It’s not fair!
If I had ingredients from the magical world, I could make delicious food like that too.
My food isn’t swill.’
The head chef, along with the other cooks and assistants, looked like abandoned puppies, their eyes almost laser-beaming at Gavin’s back, even putting pressure on him.
‘This is bad, just making simple seaweed pork porridge today.
They can’t be resentful over this, right?’ Gavin thought.
If he had chosen a menu requiring sophisticated skills, he could have demonstrated the superiority of his culinary skills, but porridge was too easy to make.
‘Let it go, karma will do its job.
If these folks get fired, we’ll find a way to compensate,’ Gavin thought, placing the ingredients on the counter.
He quickly chopped ginger and cooked the porridge, mixing pork minced into balls with seaweed, adding a pinch of salt.
Finally, the porridge was ready.
If it weren’t for drinking too much with Faker last night, making him still slightly dizzy, he wouldn’t have chosen such a simple dish.
Gavin tasted the porridge with a spoon and nodded in satisfaction.
‘Maybe a little more seasoning,’ Gavin adjusted the taste.
He added more water, fearing it might be too strong for a three-year-old.
Once satisfied, he turned off the stove and gas, waiting in the dining room until others started to come down.
The first to appear before Gavin was Holly.
Holly appeared in her school uniform, standing with her arms crossed, scrutinizing Gavin for several seconds before taking her usual seat and pulling out her textbooks to review.
Gavin raised an eyebrow slightly, not understanding why the youngest sister of the Coford household seemed to have an adversarial stance towards him.
Gavin didn’t feel enmity towards Holly, even though their first interaction had been disastrous.
Even though she was a self-centered young lady who liked to solve problems with money and was the type he would usually find troublesome, he could see that she was a good aunt and an obedient sister, and not a bad student either, as she would always review her lessons when not out partying.
Was she the resentful type?
Could she hold a grudge just because he didn’t sell her soy milk?
Certainly not.
Gavin didn’t know the real reason Holly was antagonistic towards him wasn’t about soy milk.
For Holly, a mere stall owner was insignificant, not worth considering at all.
Her discontent stemmed from Gavin being the man who got her sister pregnant!
Even though Eris was adorable, to her, Gavin seemed more nefarious than any demon or monster.
Holly’s first impression wasn’t like Kurt’s.
Kurt had a favorable view of Gavin because he had helped save Eris and encountered him at the scene, not to mention Kariette’s reactions towards Gavin painted him in a positive light.
Holly’s initial negative impression only deepened.
However, the solemn oath scene the day before made Holly slightly lower her guard.
She might be self-willed, but she wasn’t foolish or petty.
At least this man had some redeeming qualities.
Ha!
Holly sneaked glances at Gavin, who seemed disheveled.
The dark circles under his eyes made his attractiveness drop to a third of its usual level.
‘Is he preparing breakfast?’ Holly wondered.
She didn’t want to admit it, but she was looking forward to magical cuisine.
She tried sniffing but couldn’t detect the powerful aroma like yesterday, causing her slight anxiety about missing out on delicious food.
But in reality, Gavin had the pot covered.
No matter how fragrant the food inside was, with the lid on, the smell wouldn’t reach the dining room.
Holly and Gavin had no conversation, their aloofness making the servants wary of approaching, but the silence was shattered by Kurt’s arrival.
“Brother!
You’re here,” Kurt exclaimed with a wide smile, raising his hand in greeting.
Of the three siblings, Kurt was the most approachable and seemed eager to be friendly with him.
“Did you make breakfast yet?
Why can’t I smell anything?”
“I covered the pot.
I would be surprised if you could smell it.”
“Oh!” Kurt’s eyes lit up, but he restrained his expectations.
“Is it magical cuisine?” Kurt asked, with Holly perking up to hear the answer.
“Yes.”
“Yes!” Kurt shouted joyfully, pumping his fist, and Holly sighed in relief, knowing they were in for a treat this morning.
“Ugh, I can’t wait.
I really want to know what you’ve prepared for breakfast.
Let me guess, it’s some kind of soup, right?”
“No,” Gavin smiled.
“Then, stir-fried dishes?”
“Not that either.”
“Hmm…
can you give me a hint?” Kurt leaned in, eager for a clue.
Gavin smiled slightly before replying,
“It’s the most suitable food for breakfast, extremely beneficial, especially for someone sick.”
“Huh…
did you make soup?” Kurt hesitated before guessing.
Gavin shook his head.
It seemed that wealthy people like him might think of soups over anything else, right?
“I made pork and seaweed porridge.”
“Porridge?” Kurt looked as if he had swallowed a bug, as though his body was plummeting from a twenty-story building.
God!
Porridge, really?
Why did it have to be porridge?
Kurt had elevated the image of magical cuisine to something exalted.
He almost wanted to enshrine the bland soup from yesterday, worshipping it morning and evening before meals.
Even the bland soup was delightful to him; how much more so other dishes?
But the disappointment was palpable upon hearing it was just porridge.
“Brother!
There are so many dishes you could make, why porridge?” Kurt asked, seemingly baffled.
Holly, quietly studying her books, nodded in agreement internally.
This time, she supported her brother’s viewpoint.
Why did it have to be porridge?!
Even if it was magical porridge, it was still just porridge.
The siblings were united in their opposition to Gavin’s menu choice.
Gavin looked up at Kurt with a disdainful gaze that suggested he was viewing him as somewhat foolish.
“Do you realize how old your niece is and how frail her body is?
Her stomach can’t handle heavy, hard-to-digest food.
Do you want me to serve her steak?” Gavin retorted, causing his relatives to feel as though they had been slapped.
“Brother, I was wrong,” Kurt chastised himself internally.
The primary reason Gavin was preparing magical cuisine was for Eris.
Naturally, the menu he chose would have to be most beneficial for her!
Holly exhaled deeply, disappointed yet understanding the reasoning.
Eris must always come first.
“No need to look so heartbroken.
If Eris’s stomach gets stronger, I’ll have a broader range of dishes to choose from.
But before that, I need to acquire land first.”
“Good.
Have you chosen a location yet?” Kurt inquired.
“I sought assistance from an old friend.
I need to review reports on Earth’s movements and climate conditions.
I just hope the land we need isn’t far from the city of Chiang.
If we’re unlucky, it might be overseas.”
“What if it’s overseas?”
“If it’s overseas, I won’t be able to prepare magical cuisine regularly.
Magical land requires much care and attention until its transformation is complete.
I wouldn’t be able to travel frequently.
You might even need to take Eris to live with me.”
“No way!” Holly exclaimed, clearly engaged in their conversation.
Upon hearing that he might take her niece away, she immediately voiced her strong objection.
Even Kurt frowned.
Eris had always been with our family.
You’d known her for just a few days, and you wanted to whisk her away.
That was inhumane!
He could not support this idea.
“Heh, I was just teasing you,” Gavin smiled wryly, clearly noting that even Kurt, his most supportive ally, disagreed, let alone the parents of the siblings he had yet to meet.
“But I’m serious about this.
If the land we need is abroad, it won’t be easy.
Even though it might be cheaper than land in Tier, I wouldn’t be able to return and cook magical cuisine for Eris every day.
And there are only a few culinary masters of magical cuisine.
It would be great if your family could invite one to reside here.” Gavin offered a meaningful smile.
The term “culinary master of magical cuisine” struck deep.
In the human world, very few had expertise in magical cuisine because magical ingredients were rare.
Just having the chance to cook with such ingredients is already a blessing bestowed by the god of food, let alone becoming a master.
Even if such masters existed, the moderately influential Coford family couldn’t possibly have the connections to summon a culinary master to cook for them regularly.
They were truly helpless.
“And if you don’t know how to handle magical ingredients, the quality of the magical cuisine will be low.
It would be a significant waste, and you might lose all its properties.
Not just anyone can cook magical cuisine.” Gavin added, trying to convey that even if he wasn’t the one who brought Eris along with him, they would still have to send Eris to live with him if the land was located abroad.
“I think I can learn if you teach me,” Holly offered, vehemently opposing the idea of Gavin taking Eris away.
She understood his implications and feared the despicable man might steal their little goddess away.
“Magical cuisine isn’t just about being a good cook.
You also need to be a sorcerer.
But given your power, you’re just a novice mage, and you’ve stopped practicing for over three years.”
“I can train!”
“Come back when you’re a sorcerer.
As for you, Kurt, even if you’re nearly a sorcerer, you need to learn to cook.
Don’t end up like your sister, good at only making shaved ice.
Everything else could be a biohazard,” Gavin jested before anyone else could overhear.
“Who are you saying can only make shaved ice?” A cool, irked voice cut through the room as all eyes turned sharply to see the young mother carrying her little goddess down the stairs, her eyes radiating annoyance.
Upon her descent, she caught the ‘biohazard’ remark.
‘And just now, did he say [biohazard]?
Don’t think I’ll let that slide.’
“Papa!” Eris smiled sweetly with her bright face.
The little girl was nearly frantic when she woke up and couldn’t find her Papa.
Mommy said Papa was waiting downstairs, and indeed, he was there.
Papa didn’t leave me after all!
Yesterday, Eris was shocked not to find her Papa, but today was different because she could quickly locate him.
“Papa, up!” Eris lifted her little arms, waving them cutely, making anyone yearn to swoop in and embrace her.
“Up, up, up, Papa wants to hug Eris too,” Gavin stood up, walked over, and hugged and kissed his little girl joyfully.
“Heehee, Papa kissed me,” Eris giggled.
“Papa, Papa!”
“Yes?
What is it, my little sweetheart?”
“Papa, kiss Mommy too.”
Huh?
Both parents looked at each other, and even the aunts around showed puzzled expressions.
‘This is going to be trouble now.’
