“How is this possible?

Why is this clear soup so delicious!” Holly couldn’t accept it.Full novel: The Return of Asura Who Suddenly Becomes a Father — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

In her view, clear soup was a simple, traditional dish, and what Gavin had made was indeed an authentic version.

But how could its taste be so extraordinary?

What made it so delicious?

“Brother!

You shouldn’t have hidden this from us.

You’re going to make us view other dishes as mere swill,” Kurt expressed his newfound respect for Gavin.

Not only was he handsome, but he also possessed divine culinary skills.

“Sir!

Please reveal why this clear soup is so exquisitely delicious.

Please clarify,” Even the chef was unsettled.

He saw how Gavin made the clear soup; beyond his adept skills, there seemed nothing extraordinary.

The ingredients were all from the Coford household, except for a few that he brought himself.

As a chef, without even tasting, he knew that the clear soup before him was a treasure of humanity!

“The problem isn’t the recipe.

No matter how skilled a chef is, they can’t create clear soup this delicious,” Gavin said cryptically.

“Please enlighten us,” the chef pleaded, eager to uncover the secrets of the universe.

Gavin played coy, but all eyes were fixed on him.

Meanwhile, his daughter Eris was engrossed in enjoying her clear soup, indifferent to her father, much to his dismay.

“Those who are unknown of the shadow society’s secrets, step back,” Gavin proclaimed, but no one moved, indicating even the servants were privy to the shadow society.

He nodded.

“The issue isn’t the recipe; it’s the ingredients.”

“Ingredients?” everyone was perplexed.

“Yes, the ingredients in the kitchen are too mediocre.”

“What did you say!” Holly flared up at Gavin.

“I’ve personally selected all the ingredients.

They are high-quality items used in Michelin-starred restaurants.

How dare you say that my ingredients are subpar!

Say it again, and I’ll stomp your mouth with my heel.”

“Holly, the child is still here,” Kariette intervened, calming Holly down.

Fortunately, the little goddess was too absorbed in her soup.

“The ingredients are indeed inferior.

Ask your sister if you don’t believe me.

The ingredients I use aren’t available in this world.

They come from another world, [the magical world],” Gavin unveiled the grand secret, bringing clarity to everyone.

Ingredients from the magical world.

How splendid did that sound?

“I’ve heard that ingredients from the magical world are exquisite.

Even in the hands of an amateur, they can create delicious meals with ease,” Kurt drooled over the clear soup but it was now in the hands of his sister, feeding the niece.

He couldn’t possibly compete for a spoonful.

“Yes, ingredients from the magical world can be used to prepare [magical cuisine].

It’s an ultimate culinary art that can rejuvenate vitality, cure diseases, and even extend life.”

Extend life!

Hearing these words was quite daunting.

However, it’s not as though we haven’t heard about magical cuisine before.

It was a gastronomy that combined cooking and magic to create food that tasted beyond imagination.

Or was this magical cuisine?

“Clear soup can be counted as magical cuisine?” Holly asked curiously.

“Any food in this world can become magical cuisine if the cook is skilled enough.

But what is needed are the right ingredients.

Ordinary ingredients couldn’t produce top-notch magical cuisine.

Even a magical cuisine master couldn’t use ordinary ingredients to make magical cuisine,” Gavin explained with a smile, turning to look at the mother and daughter.

Kariette glanced at him slightly, as if pleased.

“Eris, do you like it?”

“Delicious!” Eris beamed with joy.

“I promise to make more delicious food for you.”

“Even more delicious?”

“Yes.”

“Really?”

“Absolutely, I promise.

But can I ask for a reward from you?”

“Reward?

What kind of reward should Eris give you?” she looked at her mother for guidance.

“Let’s ask what Papa wants.”

“What do you want, Papa?” Eris followed her mother’s cue, and Gavin chuckled, seemingly amused by his daughter’s trust in her mother.

“What do you wish for in this life?” As he asked, the atmosphere grew tense, especially among Kariette, Kurt, and Holly, their smiles freezing as if in anticipation.

Did he know already?

The others, unaware of the previous night’s conversation about Eris, grew curious, as Gavin’s expression turned somber when he asked.

“Eris wants to be healthy, to go out alone because being sick often keeps me indoors.”

“Alright… I’ll find a way to heal you,” Gavin assured, his promise bringing a bittersweet mood to everyone.

“I want to eat lots of delicious food, only Papa’s cooking.”

“I’ll cook for you for a lifetime,” he nodded again.

“And I want an ice castle, a magic amusement park, a floating island.”

“Yes, I’ll build them for you.”

“Will you really build them for me?” Eris tilted her head.

“Yes, I’ll give you all the best things— an ice castle, a magical amusement park, a floating island.

Anything else you desire?”

“Yes!” Eris beamed again, everyone anticipating the little goddess’s next wish.

“I want to celebrate a thousand birthdays.

I love birthday cakes, everyone gives me presents, and I’m so happy.” Eris’s fondest memory was her birthday party, but such joyous days came only once a year.

She genuinely wished to have them a thousand times.

Yet, this innocent request brought tears to her aunt and the servants.

The young lady might seem well now, but she was already counting down to an early demise.

The little goddess had only a year and a half left, maybe two years at most, meaning just one or two more birthdays.

Everyone knew this except for her.

Gavin shuddered, his breath becoming ragged.

He nodded firmly and spoke to his daughter with a weighted voice,

“Papa will give Eris a thousand birthday celebrations, but you’ll need to be patient.”

“But we can only celebrate once a year, Grandma told me.

To have a thousand celebrations, huh?” Eris tilted her head, puzzled.

“A thousand years,” Kariette replied as the little one tried to comprehend the numbers.

“Yes, a thousand years!”

“Papa promises…

I will give you a thousand birthday celebrations.

Let’s pinky promise.”

“Uh-huh,” Eris bobbed her tiny head and hooked her pinky with her father’s, saying together,

“Pinky promise, no lies, no take-backs, or may lightning strike us down.”
