In her memories, the morning light flooded the mid-levels villa.

Ye Siyu, lying in her villa’s large bed, slowly woke up.

The morning sun filtered through the sheer curtains, casting dappled, shimmering ripples across her shoulders, neck, and cheeks.Full novel: The Ruined Heiress’s Canary Is A Secret Tycoon — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

She had been exhausted last night, unsure how long she and Fei Shi had been tossing and turning.

When she opened her eyes in the morning, her whole body felt as though it were falling apart, and her throat felt slightly uncomfortable, probably because… she had cried out quite intensely last night…

Ye Siyu closed her eyes without getting up. She wasn’t normally someone who liked to sleep in, but right now, she simply wanted to linger in bed a bit longer.

The fragrant scent still lingered on the bedding, and warmth had not yet dissipated from the spot beside her. The pitter-patter of running water in the bathroom gradually relaxed her mind, until,

“President Ye, are you awake?”

The voice outside the door rang out, completely ruining the mood. It was Ye Siyu’s assistant.

Ye Siyu turned her head toward the door, then turned back.

Before she could speak, with a click, the bathroom door opened.

Fei Shi stepped out with wet hair, droplets still clinging to the strands, several locks draping over her forehead and temples. This only accentuated her fair, radiant skin and her clear, glass like eyes.

“Sister, let me get the door.”

Fei Shi’s dewy eyes gazed at Ye Siyu, water vapor still resting on her long lashes.

“Mm.”

Ye Siyu stayed lying down. She didn’t feel like moving anyway, lying here basking in the sun was far more comfortable.

When the door opened, the assistant froze. Taking a step back, he double checked to confirm that this was indeed Ye Siyu’s room.

Frowning with a touch of disgust, the assistant spoke in a formal tone, “Hello, who are you? Why are you in President Ye’s room?”

“Never mind who you are, you may leave now. If you need a car, I can arrange one for you.”

This assistant had been assigned by her aunt to take care of Ye Siyu’s daily routine, which gave him slightly more authority than a typical assistant.

Fei Shi’s wet hair dripped, and the glossy mist in her eyes vanished. She raised her gaze and stared into the assistant’s face with a look that was hard to describe, it was as though she were looking at an animal or an inanimate object.

Although she showed no explicit disdain, it gave off the unmistakable impression that she was looking at trash.

After a long pause, Fei Shi suddenly smiled politely. Resting her hand on the doorframe, she said, “President Ye hasn’t gotten up yet. What do you need?”

The assistant surveyed Fei Shi up and down before trying to peer inside, but Fei Shi blocked the gap in the doorway.

“President Ye asked me to bring a doctor. Is she feeling unwell? I need to go in and check on her…”

He pushed against the door, but it didn’t budge, Fei Shi held the doorknob firmly in place.

“What are you doing?”

The assistant grew displeased. “President Ye called for a doctor. Do you not understand what I’m saying? If you delay her condition, can you bear the responsibility…?”

Fei Shi’s expression remained completely serene, without a single ripple of motion. She appeared fragile and polite, yet she refused to yield an inch, until Ye Siyu’s voice echoed from within.

“Whose condition? I’m in perfect health.”

“Go wait in the main hall with the doctor.”

Dressed in a silk robe, Ye Siyu slowly sauntered out.

She was barefoot, arms crossed, stepping onto the plush high-pile carpet as she approached.

Leaning against the wall beside the doorframe, she looked languid and glamorous. Yet, overcome by fatigue, she couldn’t help but rest her head against the wall, speaking sleepily, “The doctor was called to examine her.”

Fei Shi dazed for a moment, her grip on the doorknob loosening slightly. The assistant, who had been trying to push his way in, turned his face in astonishment. “President Ye, you… you…”

Ye Siyu leaned back against the wall with her arms crossed. Though she was speaking, her eyes were fixed on Fei Shi. “Does your head still hurt?”

Fei Shi’s eyes turned moist once more. As she gazed at Ye Siyu, her bright eyes glistened with watery light, making her look utterly pitiable.

“Sister… it doesn’t hurt anymore. I bit your shoulder last night… does it still hurt?”

In the heat of passion last night, Fei Shi had seemed like a little wild beast unable to control her emotions, burying her face into Ye Siyu’s shoulder and biting down hard.

She had been as wild as a predator tasting blood, tirelessly taking from her, as if exerting all her strength to release every bit of her hidden passion…

Ye Siyu raised an eyebrow unconsciously, remembering the bite mark on her shoulder.

She cleared her throat softly. “Mm… it’s fine. Doesn’t hurt.”

Noticing the tips of Fei Shi’s wet hair still dripping water, she asked, “Didn’t you just get your head bandaged? Why did you get it wet?”

Fei Shi asked, “Will it get worse?”

Ye Siyu replied, “Yes.”

Fei Shi knitted her brows, her wet eyelashes fluttering as if she were on the verge of tears. “Will it hurt a lot when the doctor sees it later?”

Ye Siyu crossed her arms. “Most likely.”

Looking tearful, Fei Shi pursed her lips and whispered softly, “I’m scared…”

“Will sister stay with me?”

Ye Siyu spoke as if no one else was in the room, “You want me to stay with you?”

Fei Shi nodded. She reached out to grab Ye Siyu’s hand, but nervously pulled hers back, softly rubbing her thumb and index finger together in front of her.

“If sister is busy, go attend to your own matters. I… I’ll be okay.”

She raised her eyes, her gaze glistening. “So, sister… will you… will you leave me?”

Even though this was clearly a display of helpless innocence, Ye Siyu fell right for it.

With a face like Fei Shi’s, who could possibly refuse her?

“Of course not.”

Assistant Chen standing nearby. Could you two please consider my feelings for a second?

“Do you feel any pain here?”

Fei Shi shook her head.

“How about here?”

The doctor pressed lightly on both sides of Fei Shi’s temporal lobes, causing her to let out a soft gasp.

Ye Siyu almost blurted out “Be gentler!”, but managed to hold herself back.

“Doctor, how is she?”

Although he was a private house doctor, given the Ye family’s high status, any doctor coming to the door had top-tier qualifications. Not only that, but they also brought portable diagnostic equipment and a dedicated medical team wheeling in various machines.

“Based on the examination and diagnosis, this young lady has sustained external head trauma. Her head CT shows no structural abnormalities, but she reports memory loss.”

The doctor glanced at the medical reports, flipping through several sheets before reaching a conclusion.

“Our preliminary assessment is that direct physical impact caused mild local brain tissue trauma, resulting in a temporary mental impairment characterized by amnesia.”

So she really lost her memory?

Ye Siyu was slightly surprised. Up until the doctor delivered the diagnosis, she had assumed Fei Shi was just playing around to flirt with her and add some spice to their dynamic.

She hadn’t expected it to be real.

“How long will it take for her to recover?”

Truthfully, Ye Siyu didn’t particularly care if Fei Shi recovered her memory or not. With or without memories made no difference, keeping her around as a companion was no different than keeping a pet. People who adopt cats from a shelter don’t care if the kitten remembers its parents, as long as it’s cute.

However, at that moment, Ye Siyu hadn’t realized that one day she would genuinely fall in love, an affection so deep it would be etched into her very bones,

The doctor adjusted his glasses. “President Ye, it’s hard to say. According to the description, after sustaining the severe head impact, she also experienced a brief period of oxygen deprivation underwater. Both factors can cause significant negative effects on the brain and body. Regular follow-ups and checkups will be required to assess her recovery progress.”

It sounded fairly serious. Ye Siyu felt that, in a way, her words had proven prophetic, even the name she picked turned out to be a spot on description. Fei Shi’er (A handful of trouble).

“By the way, how has my aunt’s health been lately?”

Ye Siyu’s aunt was her only remaining relative in this world. Previously, when her aunt met a scumbag husband and suffered domestic abuse, Ye Siyu was the one who stepped up to protect her. Her aunt also had a troublesome son who spent his days drinking, partying, and neglecting work while obsessively trying to take over the main Ye Corporation. Lately, he was throwing tantrums and trying to meddle in Ye Siyu’s subsidiary company, which was why her aunt had gone to study Zen with a master for the second time this year.

“Madam Ye’s condition is somewhat complex, but it stems mostly from emotional stress. Long-term stress has led to issues with her blood pressure and cardiovascular health. President Ye, you should remind her to take her anti-hypertensive medication regularly, relax her mind, and avoid over worrying.”

“With Ye Gaosheng around, it’s impossible for my aunt not to worry.”

Ye Gaosheng was her aunt’s troublesome son. He had recently changed his surname to Ye to match the family line, yet he had thrown a massive tantrum and wept endlessly for his alcoholic, gambling father.

Feeling annoyed, Ye Siyu raised her finger and pointed toward Fei Shi. “Prescribe some medicine for her. Oh, and give me some topical ointment for swelling and pain relief, I need it.”

The doctor caught on immediately. “President Ye, are you alright? If there’s an issue, please describe it in detail so I can treat it for you.”

Ye Siyu leaned back on the sofa. As an arrogant heiress who was accustomed to winning in the business world, she felt a rare moment of embarrassment in front of a room full of medical staff. She could hardly admit that her shoulder hurt because her lover had bitten her.

“It’s nothing. Just leave the medicine.”

The medical team was professional enough not to pry into things that weren’t their business and began writing the prescriptions.

Sitting on the sofa, Ye Siyu looked at the bandage wrapped around Fei Shi’s head. Suddenly, the stark white gauze against her black hair looked painfully glaring.

When things got wild last night, she had completely forgotten about the severe injury on the girl’s head.

Come to think of it, Fei Shi seemed to possess a quiet toughness. Despite being in so much pain and having soaked the bandage, she had still obediently gone to take a shower this morning just because Ye Siyu casually remarked. “Babe, I’m going to sleep a bit longer, go take a shower.”

Thinking back on it, Ye Siyu felt she had displayed some terrible spoiled rich habits and felt a slight wave of guilt.

She looked at Fei Shi, intending to say something, but right at that moment, an extremely loud, harsh shout bellowed from the entrance.

“Ye Siyu!”

The medical team hadn’t even finished leaving, some were still changing shoes at the foyer, while the housekeeper was helping see them out.

Everyone turned in shock toward the doorway to see a slicked back, greasy looking man with a floral shirt unbuttoned by two buttons, a thick Alexander McQueen silver chain swaying around his neck, and sunglasses lazily pulled down off his face.

Chewing gum with his neck tilted, the man jerked his chin at Ye Siyu. “Hey, Ye Siyu! Weren’t you supposed to enter a political marriage with some high-end family’s heiress? Now that the marriage is off, why are you still clinging to the company?”

Seeing such a scene, few dared to linger. The medical crew left hastily, and the domestic staff retreated to their own quarters. Assistant Chen stepped forward with a forced smile. “Young President Ye, look, President Ye hasn’t left for the company yet. Should we perhaps go to the office to discuss business…”

This crude, gang like man who looked completely useless was none other than her aunt’s disappointing son, Ye Gaosheng.

“What the hell does this have to do with you?” Ye Gaosheng glared with bloodshot eyes, a menacing look on his face. He pointed the arm of his sunglasses right at Assistant Chen’s nose, nearly poking his face. “I only went to the office and realized she wasn’t there, which is how I found out she’s idling at home!”

“It’s past eleven o’clock and she hasn’t gone to work yet. Turns out she has a little lover tucked away at home!”

Ye Gaosheng’s hostile gaze shifted slowly from Ye Siyu, who sat composed on the main sofa, to Fei Shi, who was standing to the side.

His eyes grew greasy and uncomfortable as his gaze slowly slid down Fei Shi’s face, then back up.

“I heard from friends yesterday that after returning from that fancy event last night, you brought a pretty little beauty back with you. I was wondering, you, Ye Siyu, are always the most hardworking, always putting up the best front, never late or leaving early, yet you skipped work this morning. I thought you’d encountered a Daji…”

He stared at Fei Shi and sneered, “Turns out she really is a stunning beauty…”
