Nothing Matters
Wen Muyan was momentarily stunned, but the guards in the villa were not. They immediately noticed the disturbance, sounded the alarm, and quickly surrounded the area.
Originally, the script had Wen Muyan rushing to stop Xiao Han’s revenge on Zhuo Fan, only to fail and flee.
But this situation… something seemed off, didn’t it?
Could Xiao Han’s revenge really be… putting underwear on someone’s head?
“Xiao Han, you… let go of Zhuo Fan.” Hearing the alarm, Wen Muyan finally snapped out of it and dashed forward to grab Xiao Han’s wrist, attempting to pull him away.
Xiao Han was prepared. With a twist of his arm, he flung Wen Muyan aside, then grabbed his shoulder, and the two began grappling on the bed.
What, you’re asking how they suddenly know martial arts? The script says they’re involved in the underworld, so these basic skills are a must!
“What did you just say about McDonald’s?” Wen Muyan, gaining the upper hand for a moment, pinned Xiao Han at the foot of the bed and quickly whispered.
Xiao Han kicked him away, stood up, and smiled silently at him. “What do you think, Prince of Wen?”
“!” Wen Muyan’s face showed surprise, then he immediately became excited. “You’re also—” He didn’t finish because the guards had already swarmed in. Now wasn’t the time for talking. Wen Muyan gave Xiao Han a deep look, then broke through the window, leaving only the words: “If you dare harm a hair on Zhuo Fan’s head, I will kill you!”
“Heh.” Xiao Han stood by the window, his eyes following Wen Muyan as the guards chased him, showing no intention of giving the order to stop until Wen Muyan’s figure completely vanished into the night.
After a moment, Xiao Han returned to the study, where Xian Fu approached with a guilty expression, reporting that they had lost the man.
“I know.” Xiao Han nodded calmly, crossing his legs as he sat in a single armchair, silently sipping tea and casually browsing a newspaper.
Xian Fu, surprised, asked, “Young master, do you know this person?”
“He’s Wen Muyan, the one I asked you to investigate this morning.” Xiao Han peeked out from behind the newspaper, a smile playing at his lips, seemingly in a good mood.
“I see. This was my oversight. I’ll have results for you by tomorrow.” Xian Fu bowed slightly, then asked, “Should we increase the security around Zhuo Fan?”
“No need.” Xiao Han shook his head, adding, “Remove one guard, leave just one to watch him.”
“?” Xian Fu was puzzled for a moment, then thought perhaps the young master was using a strategy to appear weak and lure the enemy out. Yes, that must be it. Xian Fu thought admiringly, his young master was indeed clever and wise!
Xiao Han pondered for a moment, then instructed, “If you see him again, don’t engage. Inform me immediately.”
“Yes, young master.”
The next day, when Xiao Han entered Zhuo Fan’s room, he found him awake, fully dressed, and huddled in a corner of the bed, watching him with a wary and complex expression.
In truth, Xiao Han was curious about what expression Zhuo Fan would have upon waking to find himself wearing nothing but underwear on his head, but he was destined never to see it.
After all, the script only indicated that he should take revenge on Zhuo Fan, without specifying how. Given the script’s nature, it was likely meant for him to attempt a failed assault. But since there was a loophole, why not exploit it? He didn’t even want this troublesome task!
“You… why didn’t you…” Zhuo Fan frowned, finding it hard to speak, yet couldn’t help but ask with a hint of expectation.
Xiao Han sneered, “Your old flame suddenly barged in to save you, ruining my mood.”
“What are you talking about?” Zhuo Fan was taken aback, frowning even more, looking bewildered. “Who are you talking about?”
“Hmph, who else?” Xiao Han casually flipped through some documents, reading a passage aloud, “Old Master Zhuo once took in several adopted sons, secretly training them to assist his son in the future, making them compete with each other. In the end, one was left to become the right-hand man of the heir. This person was exceptionally skilled, determined, and loyal to the Zhuo family. After the Zhuo family fell, everyone scattered, but this person disappeared without a trace. Zhuo Fan, who do you think this person is?”
With each word, Zhuo Fan’s face grew paler, and finally, with a trembling voice, he demanded, “What have you done to Muyan?”
Xiao Han looked at him mockingly, deliberately not answering.
Zhuo Fan closed his eyes in despair, his expression pained, as if wrestling with intense inner conflict. After a long time, he calmed down, opened his eyes, and silently looked at Xiao Han, his gaze hollow, like dead ashes.
Here we go again!
Xiao Han found it hard to look directly into those eyes. Then he heard Zhuo Fan speak with a tone of defiance, “Since you believe I was responsible for Liang Chenli’s death, take your revenge on me. Do whatever you want to humiliate me, I won’t resist. But don’t take your anger out on Muyan. He’s my good brother, innocent, only trying to protect me!”
With that, he steeled himself, began to undress, and then collapsed onto the bed, eyes shut tight, face turned away, bearing an expression of enduring humiliation.
Hey, hey, don’t do this, who wants to do anything to you? Do you think you’re so stunning that every man in the world wants you?
Put your clothes back on, I’m really not interested in your bony frame!
Xiao Han resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Honestly, the script’s logic was bizarre. Wouldn’t a normal man seeking revenge on another man destroy his career, ruin his reputation, make him a pariah, or just kill his entire family?
If a submissive character falls for a scumbag, and the scumbag approaches with goodwill, that might be reasonable. But once the scumbag starts taking revenge, is the only method to keep… doing that?
What nonsense!
You’ve heard of love turning to hate, but hate turning to love? The scumbag later regrets, realizing he fell deeply in love with the person who killed his beloved while doing all those things, then feels guilty for hurting him, even downplaying the fact that he caused his beloved’s death—because it was out of jealousy for loving him!
This isn’t a scumbag, it’s a bizarre character, isn’t it?
As Xiao Han thought this, he felt infinite sympathy for the transparent Liang Chenli. If he knew from his grave that his lover ended up with his killer, wouldn’t he be so furious he’d come back to life, only to die of anger again?
Just then, Xian Fu knocked on the door at the perfect moment. “Young master, that person is here again! He specifically asked to see you.”
Relieved, Xiao Han quickly left, but Zhuo Fan, who had been lying on the bed, suddenly became spirited and rushed over to cling to his waist. “Xiao Han, please don’t harm Muyan. I’ve already agreed to let you do whatever you want with me, isn’t that enough? I know you hate me to the core, but don’t hate him because of me!”
This guy’s self-importance skill must be maxed out!
Xiao Han took a deep breath, forcefully pried Zhuo Fan’s arms away, and turned to shout angrily, “Get off!”
With a slap, he sent Zhuo Fan sprawling against the wall.
As soon as he left, he ordered Xian Fu to keep a close watch, ignoring Zhuo Fan’s shouting and fussing.
In the living room, at least two teams of bodyguards were watching Wen Muyan, one team in the open, one in the shadows. The fact that such a big person managed to sneak into the inner residence unnoticed last night was bad enough, but failing to catch him was even worse. Everyone responsible for security at the Xiao residence felt ashamed. If not for the young master’s orders not to engage, they would have rushed in to tie him up and beat him.
Despite being watched by so many eyes, Wen Muyan remained composed and unruffled. He wore a black trench coat, hands in his pockets, and when Xiao Han appeared at the second-floor staircase, Wen Muyan immediately looked over, his eyes shining brightly as he stared at Xiao Han.
“You’re Wen Muyan?” Xiao Han stopped at the top of the stairs, one hand on the railing, looking down at him with an arrogant expression, his gaze like a blade slicing over him.
“That’s right.” Wen Muyan met his gaze without backing down. In the living room, not a single person made a sound, watching the confrontation in silence.
No matter what, the plot continued. Xiao Han was silent for a moment, then let out a cold laugh. “You’ve got guts, daring to come here. Do you think I won’t just shoot you?”
“You won’t. I came through the front door openly this time. So many eyes saw me come in, they’ll naturally see me walk out.” Wen Muyan shook his head and made his offer, “Let me see Zhuo Fan. In exchange, I’ll tell you about some of the secret industries under the Zhuo family’s name. These are things the old master hadn’t had a chance to tell Zhuo Fan, only I know.”
Xiao Han sneered, “Why should I believe you?”
Wen Muyan seemed to have anticipated this, calmly offering his bargaining chip. “I can take you to see one of them first.”
Xiao Han immediately agreed, “Lead the way.”
No one noticed any subtle relationship beyond hostility between the two. Wen Muyan and Xiao Han got into the same car, followed by three others. Inside the car, a curtain separated the front and back seats, blocking the view but not providing ideal soundproofing.
Since getting into the car, Xiao Han had been staring at Wen Muyan, for a full three minutes, neither speaking first, as if playing a game where the first to speak loses.
Until Wen Muyan finally couldn’t help but blink his dry eyes and was about to speak, when suddenly Xiao Han leaned over and whispered, “The king covers the tiger?”
“…”
Wen Muyan looked at him seriously, whispering back, “Chicken stews with mushrooms!”
Xiao Han let out a long breath, patting his shoulder vigorously. “Comrade!”
Wen Muyan suddenly became excited, pulling Xiao Han’s hand off his shoulder and gripping it with both hands. “Brother!”
Then the two shared a big hug, Xiao Han patting his back emotionally, saying, “You’re not fighting alone!”
Wen Muyan was so moved by the words… or not.
