On the two-and-a-half-meter-wide bed, Chi Ruanli lay sprawled in the middle.
Perhaps the air conditioning had been set too high. She stretched out her arms and pushed the silk quilt down a little. Against the dark blue bedding, her skin appeared even fairer.
Turning over and stretching lazily, Chi Ruanli slowly woke up.
Her round deer-like eyes opened, and the first thing she saw was a ray of golden sunlight slipping through a gap in the curtains.
Yawning, dimples appeared on her cheeks.
She let out a satisfied sigh.
The weather is so nice today!
“You’re awake?”
A deep, magnetic male voice came from behind her, carrying the husky quality unique to the early morning.
Startled, Chi Ruanli shot upright in bed.
The mattress bounced twice beneath her.
“President Sheng?”
The moment she recognized the man sitting on the sofa, confusion filled her voice.
Lowering her head, she quickly checked her clothes.
She was wearing a white bathrobe.
Her first thought was:
Did Sheng Yanqing and I do it again?!
She immediately pulled open the collar of the robe.
Seeing that her undergarments were still intact, she cautiously moved her body around.
Unlike last time, there was no soreness whatsoever.
Now she was even more confused.
Looking at Sheng Yanqing with innocent bewilderment, she silently asked:
What exactly happened?
Her little movements and dazed expression amused Sheng Yanqing.
After getting up and pulling open the curtains, he finally explained in a serious tone,
“You got drunk last night. Since I didn’t know your address, I brought you back to my house.”
Having just woken up, Chi Ruanli’s brain was still offline.
After softly thanking him, she looked around the room.
Black-and-white tones.
Minimalist and restrained.
The entire room radiated an ascetic atmosphere.
“This is my bedroom,” Sheng Yanqing explained, noticing her confusion.
Chi Ruanli’s heart skipped a beat.
She looked down at the bed beneath her.
“This is my bed.”
His voice was slightly hoarse.
At those words, Chi Ruanli blushed all the way to her ears.
The pounding of her heart echoed painfully in her ears.
Her gaze darted everywhere except at him.
So…
She had slept in Sheng Yanqing’s bedroom.
And on Sheng Yanqing’s bed.
The moment she fully processed that fact, panic completely overtook her.
She hurriedly climbed out of bed and stood beside it with her head lowered.
Like a child who had done something wrong, she had no idea what to do.
Seeing her acting so cautiously, Sheng Yanqing sighed.
A trace of heartache surfaced in his eyes.
Bending down, he picked up a pair of pink fuzzy slippers and placed them at her feet.
Then he knelt and personally helped her put them on.
The warmth of his large hand brushing against her ankle finally snapped Chi Ruanli back to reality.
She quickly stepped back two paces.
“President Sheng… I can do it myself.”
Her voice was dry with nervousness.
Sheng Yanqing said nothing.
He stubbornly finished helping her put them on.
Only after that did he stand up.
Looking down at her for a long moment, he sighed softly.
“Did you misunderstand something?”
“Nothing happened last night. I slept on the sofa.”
Sheng Yanqing lied without changing his expression.
Nothing had happened—that part was true.
But they had spent the entire night sleeping in the same bed.
By the time they had returned to Qingyuan Villa, it was already midnight.
When the housekeeper opened the door and saw him carrying a woman in his arms, she had first been shocked and then overjoyed.
Without hesitation, she had opened the door to the master bedroom for him.
Sheng Yanqing had raised no objections.
After confirming that Chi Ruanli was the little woman from that night, he had already decided to gradually bring her into his life.
The moment he placed her on the bed and prepared to leave, however, her small hand had tightly gripped his collar.
She clung to him stubbornly.
Left with no other choice, Sheng Yanqing had lain down beside her.
Only after holding her and gently comforting her for a long time had Chi Ruanli finally fallen into a deep sleep.
Her brows relaxed.
Her sleeping face looked peaceful and sweet.
Meanwhile, the poor man had ended up covered in sweat and had been forced to take a cold shower in the middle of winter.
“The housekeeper changed your clothes. She was worried you’d be uncomfortable sleeping.”
At the moment, Chi Ruanli resembled a frightened little white rabbit.
Sheng Yanqing spoke softly, afraid of scaring her.
“Thank you, President Sheng.”
Chi Ruanli smiled sweetly at him.
In truth, she simply felt that she had overstepped her boundaries.
The reason she had lowered her head earlier was because she was upset with herself.
I shouldn’t have done that.
After hearing that nothing had happened, she secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
The two parallel lines that had originally never intersected should not cross again.
At the breakfast table, only the crisp sounds of knives and forks occasionally touching plates could be heard.
The two sat facing each other.
One of them kept her head lowered, wholeheartedly focused on eating.
The food clearly suited her tastes.
The other merely took a sip of milk before becoming completely engrossed in watching the little woman sitting opposite him.
Chi Ruanli stabbed a piece of sausage with her fork.
As she opened her mouth to eat it, a slight sting shot through her lips.
She reached up and touched them.
Something felt off.
Taking out her phone, she used the small mirror on the back of the case to check.
Then she froze.
They were swollen.
Her lips were swollen!
She had been distracted while washing up earlier and had only just noticed.
Chi Ruanli was naturally easygoing.
Or perhaps simply inexperienced.
She immediately assumed she had eaten something she was allergic to the night before.
Not thinking much of it, she continued nibbling on her sausage.
Perhaps because she was enjoying the meal so much, her little head swayed slightly from side to side.
Her deer-like eyes curved into crescent moons.
Across from her, Sheng Yanqing saw the sight and unconsciously smiled.
His gaze shifted to her lips.
He coughed awkwardly.
The truth was that he had noticed the swelling the moment he woke up.
Apparently not satisfied, he had even stolen two more kisses while she was asleep.
Only after her lips had become rosy and swollen had he finally stopped.
Meanwhile, Chi Ruanli had merely murmured a few sleepy sounds before continuing her slumber.
Her sleeping posture was so good that she reminded Sheng Yanqing of the orange tabby cat he had raised as a child.
“You’re not going to finish the remaining half glass of milk?”
he asked when he saw her put down her fork.
“Mhm. I can’t drink anymore.”
Chi Ruanli revealed a contented, adorable expression.
Patting her stomach with one hand, she admitted defeat.
She had eaten too much.
Sheng Yanqing nodded.
Then he reached over, picked up her glass, tilted his head back, and drank the remaining half glass of milk in one gulp.
“President Sheng?”
Chi Ruanli stared at him in shock.
Meeting her astonished gaze, Sheng Yanqing maintained a calm expression.
“Don’t waste food.”
“Huh?”
Chi Ruanli’s cheeks instantly turned scarlet.
Things seemed to be drifting in a very strange direction…
