At nine o’clock in the morning, Chi Ruanli stretched lazily and comfortably before sitting up in bed with smiling eyes.

She wasn’t sure if it was because of the pregnancy, but she had become increasingly sleepy lately.

In the past, she had always woken up precisely at seven o’clock.Full novel: The Secret Pregnancy of the Secretary, Spoiled to Heaven by the CEO — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Her biological clock had been incredibly reliable.

As soon as she stepped out of the bedroom, she heard voices coming from downstairs.

“My son, you’re really something.”

Madam Sheng patted Sheng Yanqing on the shoulder, smiling so broadly that her eyes nearly disappeared.

“Just thinking about having three adorable little grandchildren in a few months makes me so excited that I can’t sleep.”

The previous night, after Uncle Zhao had called her, Madam Sheng had wanted to drive over immediately.

It had taken Chairman Sheng a great deal of coaxing to stop her.

Afterward, she had spent half the night excitedly chatting with him before finally falling asleep.

“Son, hurry and take a look. Have I gotten a few more wrinkles?”

Madam Sheng leaned closer to Sheng Yanqing with a distressed expression.

She refused to let the matter go until he assured her that she hadn’t.

When Chi Ruanli came downstairs and saw the scene, she couldn’t help laughing softly.

Hearing the sound, everyone turned to look at her.

“Daughter-in-law!”

Madam Sheng immediately stood up and took her hand, leading her to the dining table.

“You must be hungry after waking up. Eat breakfast first.”

Chi Ruanli was both flattered and overwhelmed.

She was startled by Madam Sheng’s enthusiasm.

She was even more startled by the breakfast spread laid out before her.

Steamed buns.

Fried dough sticks.

Soy milk.

Clear noodle soup.

Sliced bread.

Ham.

Eggs.

And all kinds of other dishes.

There was enough food for ten people.

At a loss, she spoke awkwardly.

“Madam Sheng, I can’t possibly eat—”

“Still calling me Madam Sheng?”

Madam Sheng interrupted with a feigned look of displeasure.

Chi Ruanli became even more flustered.

Helplessly, she looked toward Sheng Yanqing with shy eyes, silently asking for help.

The man stood up and affectionately rubbed her curly hair.

Then he frowned at his honored mother.

“Mom, you’re scaring her.”

“Who are you yelling at?”

Before Madam Sheng could respond, Chairman Sheng, who had been quietly sitting on the sofa, walked over and kicked Sheng Yanqing lightly.

“I can’t even bear to raise my voice at your mother.”

After speaking, he wrapped an arm around Madam Sheng and gently coaxed her.

Then he turned toward Chi Ruanli with a kind smile.

“Little Chi, hurry and eat. Your aunt got up early this morning and had the family chef prepare all of this before bringing it over.”

“It won’t taste as good once it gets cold.”

“Thank you, Uncle.”

Chi Ruanli responded with a sweet smile.

So Sheng Yanqing’s peach blossom eyes had been inherited from his father.

They looked exactly alike.

She looked up at Sheng Yanqing and playfully stuck out her tongue before finally picking up her chopsticks.

She was genuinely hungry.

She ate the soup dumplings two bites at a time.

Afterward, she took a sip of soy milk to wash everything down.

The satisfaction made her eyes curve into crescents.

“Do you want more noodles?”

While she ate, Sheng Yanqing kept placing food onto the small plate in front of her.

“That’s enough, that’s enough.”

A faint burp escaped her.

If she ate any more, she would burst.

Madam Sheng and Chairman Sheng watched her carefree eating habits.

Not only were they not bothered by it, but they exchanged a glance and nodded in satisfaction.

They had seen too many wealthy young ladies from prominent families who took a few bites and claimed they were full, putting on airs.

Chi Ruanli was completely different.

She ate with a healthy appetite and without any pretension.

When she looked up and noticed both of them watching her, she became a little embarrassed.

“Would you like some fruit?”

Madam Sheng pushed a plate of grapes toward her.

Smiling warmly, she said,

“You should eat more fruit during pregnancy. Balanced nutrition is important.”

Sheng Yanqing reached over, plucked a grape, and held it to her lips.

Chi Ruanli immediately pressed her lips together.

Then she shot him an adorable glare.

The elders are still here!

Oh?

Now she was shy.

The man glanced at his parents before turning back to her.

“They’re even more lovey-dovey than we are.”

As he spoke, he gently pinched her chin and fed the grape into her mouth.

“You brat. Have some respect.”

Madam Sheng glared at him in mock annoyance after he exposed their secret.

Dimples appeared on Chi Ruanli’s cheeks as she laughed.

She loved this kind of family atmosphere.

She loved it very much.
