Aanya opened her eyes.

She was lying on the floor of the Original Ravenhall.

Aarav was beside her.Full novel: THE SECRETS OF RAVENHALL UNIVERSITY(Book 2: The legacy of Ravenhall) — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The old woman stood a few steps away, staring at them.

“You came back.”

Aanya slowly sat up.

“How long were we gone?”

The woman looked toward the clock.

“Three hours.”

Aarav frowned.

“It felt like minutes.”

“Time doesn’t behave normally inside the Origin.”

Aanya looked at Aarav.

“Did you see it?”

He nodded.

“The first memory.”

“And?”

Aarav hesitated.

“I remember something.”

Aanya waited.

“I chose you.”

Aanya stared at him.

“What does that mean?”

“I don’t know.”

He touched his chest.

“The Echo said there was a memory they couldn’t erase.”

Aanya stepped closer.

“Can you access it?”

Aarav closed his eyes.

For a moment, nothing happened.

Then— silver light appeared around his hand.

A memory formed between them.

A garden.

But not the garden from before.

This one was much older.

Aanya recognized herself as a child.

Aarav was beside her.

And in front of them stood the Founder.

He was holding two silver objects.

A key.

And a small glass sphere.

The Founder looked at the children.

“One of you must choose.”

Young Aanya looked frightened.

“Choose what?”

The Founder pointed toward the sphere.

“Who will remember?”

Young Aarav stepped forward.

“She should.”

The Founder frowned.

“Why?”

Aarav looked at Aanya.

“Because she shouldn’t have to forget.”

Aanya’s heart tightened.

She whispered:

“You chose for me.”

Aarav opened his eyes. Find the original chapter at g.com.

“I did.”

The memory continued.

The Founder placed the sphere in Aarav’s hands.

“If you give her your memories, you may lose them yourself.”

Young Aarav nodded.

“I don’t care.”

Aanya’s eyes filled with tears.

The old woman looked away.

Aanya turned toward her.

“You knew.”

The woman nodded.

“I knew this memory existed.”

“Why didn’t you tell us?”

“Because remembering it activates the connection.”

Aarav frowned.

“And that’s dangerous?”

The woman looked toward the ceiling.

“Not for you.”

A pause.

“For Ravenhall.”

Suddenly— every light in the university turned off.

The old woman froze.

“What happened?”

Aanya stood.

“The Observer.”

A deep voice echoed through the building.

“MEMORY CONNECTION DETECTED.”

Aarav’s silver light grew brighter.

“SUBJECT ZERO AND SUBJECT ONE HAVE RECONNECTED.”

Aanya grabbed Aarav’s hand.

The voice continued.

“INITIATING ORIGINAL PROTOCOL.”

The walls began shifting.

Doors moved.

Corridors changed.

The university was rearranging itself.

Aarav looked around.

“What is it doing?”

The old woman whispered:

“Ravenhall is closing.”

“Closing?”

“To keep the memory inside.”

Aanya looked at the floor.

A thin silver line appeared.

It stretched from her feet to Aarav’s.

Then farther— through the walls.

Toward the center of the university.

The Heart.

Aarav understood.

“It’s pulling the memory toward the Heart.”

Aanya shook her head.

“No.”

She stepped forward.

“We’ve already seen what happens when the Heart controls memories.”

“Then don’t let it.”

Aanya looked at Aarav.

“What do we do?”

Aarav smiled.

“We choose.”

The silver line suddenly split.

One path went toward Aanya.

One toward Aarav.

And a third path appeared.

Leading somewhere else.

Aanya stared.

“Where does that one go?”

The old woman looked terrified.

“To the Observer.”

Aarav’s smile disappeared.

“You mean we can reach it?”

“Yes.”

Aanya looked at the third path.

“And if we do?”

“You might finally learn why it was created.”

Aanya took a breath.

“Then that’s where we’re going.”

They followed the third path.

The walls became darker.

The silver symbols disappeared.

Even the sound of the Heart faded.

At the end stood a black door.

There was no symbol.

No inscription.

Just a small mirror.

Aanya looked into it.

She saw herself.

Then Aarav.

Then— a third reflection.

Aanya froze.

“Who’s that?”

The reflection slowly turned.

It wasn’t a person.

It was a younger version of Aanya.

But she was wearing a silver crown.

Aarav stepped closer.

“That’s impossible.”

The reflection smiled.

Then whispered:

“You finally came back.”

The mirror shattered.

Behind it was an open doorway.

And from somewhere beyond it came a voice neither of them had heard before:

“Aanya Raven…”

Aanya stopped.

The voice continued:

“…you are the first memory.”

She looked at Aarav.

He reached for her hand.

Together, they stepped through.
