The sheer noise of Rogue’s Haven hit them like a physical blow.

Unlike the rhythmic, mechanical roar of the Oakhaven textile mills, the sounds here were chaotic, organic, and dangerous.

Thousands of voices argued, bartered, and threatened across the Smuggler’s Bazaar.Full novel: The Seventh Spellborn — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The air was thick with the scent of roasted underground beast-meat, acrid alchemical smoke, and the heavy copper tang of raw, unrefined world-mana.

Vance walked with an easy, fluid stride, his massive executioner’s sword swaying slightly over his shoulder.

The crowd of criminals, outcasts, and rogue mages split around him like water around a boulder.

His tattered raven-feather cloak was a known symbol in these lower rings—a warning that to cross him was to invite a gale that could strip flesh from bone.

John and Martha pressed close behind the captain, their eyes darting nervously to the armed thugs leaning against the stone pillars.

Thomas walked between his parents, his liquid silver eyes wide open, absorbing a world he had never been permitted to see.

Without a blindfold, the market was a blinding kaleidoscope of elemental forces.

Thomas saw a merchant yelling about beast cores, holding up a jagged crimson crystal that throbbed with the angry, trapped heat of a volcanic lizard.

He saw a rogue scholar selling illegal cultivation scrolls, the parchment glowing with faint blue ink made from wind-beast blood.

Everywhere he looked, people were surrounded by cloaks of elemental energy—some vibrant and pure, others flickering, dirty, and deeply scarred by poor training.

“Keep your heads down and your mouths shut,” Vance muttered back to them, not breaking his stride.

“The Upper Ring is controlled by the Syndicates.

They sell anything here.

Slaves, stolen imperial weaponry, forbidden techniques.

If you linger too long, they’ll smell the Oakhaven soot on your clothes and realize you’re fresh meat.” Suddenly, Thomas stopped dead in his tracks.

His silver eyes locked onto a tiny, dilapidated stall at the very edge of the bazaar.

It was run by an old man whose legs had been replaced by crude iron stilts, his skin withered and gray.

The stall didn’t have glowing beast cores or flashing weapons.

It was filled with what looked like worthless junk—cracked stone tablets, rusted iron keys, and broken trinkets dug out from ancient ruins.

But to Thomas’s silver sight, the junk stall was the brightest object in the entire cavern.

Amidst a pile of rusted metal, a small, unassuming iron ring no larger than a coin was drawing his attention.

It wasn’t glowing with common elemental colors.

Instead, it was surrounded by a faint, twisting aura of absolute, colorless energy—the exact same color as Thomas’s own internal silver vortex.

The aura was thrumming at a low, sub-audible frequency that matched the exact rhythm of his own heart.

The void inside Thomas’s chest leaped, a sharp pang of sudden, desperate hunger pulling him toward the stall.

“Thomas?” Martha noticed her son freezing, her hand gripping his small shoulder.

“What is it?” Vance stopped, turning his scarred face back toward the child.

His colorless eyes followed Thomas’s intense gaze, landing right on the old man’s junk stall.

Vance’s brow furrowed.

To his Tier 4 perception, there was absolutely nothing of value on that table—just trash scavenged from the ancient foundation layers.

“See something you like, kid?” Vance asked, his voice dropping into a low, speculative drawl.

He stepped back toward the boy, a sharp glint of curiosity in his eyes.

He knew by now that if Thomas was looking at something, his silver sight was seeing a reality that normal cultivators were completely blind to.
