The monster softly called her name, its emotionless eyes staring straight at her.
It felt like the spine chilling sensation of being locked onto by a large carnivorous beast in the wild.
Qi Qi slowly pulled the blanket back over herself, attempting a moment of self-deception.
But the next second, the blanket was tugged open from the inside. The monster’s blue-green eyes, glowing even in the dark, remained stubbornly fixed on her.
…I feel like I’m already a little dead.
Qi Qi found it baffling that she hadn’t passed out from shock by now.
“Qi Qi, Qi Qi, Qi…” The monster continued calling her name softly with tireless repetition.
It was like a mosquito buzzing by your ear in the middle of the night, frightening when you first hear it, but after a while, leaving behind nothing but annoyance and irritation.
As its lips parted and closed, the sharp fangs on either side, decidedly non-human, poked out slightly from between its lips.
The tiny reflection of cold light brought Qi Qi back to her senses.
“Who are you?”
Qi Qi took a few deep breaths to settle her racing heart, attempting to communicate with this humanoid monster that had suddenly materialized in her bed in the dead of night.
“Qi Qi.”
The monster looked at her, narrowing its eyes slightly, and abruptly flashed a bizarre, uncannily distorted smile. However, what should have been a gesture of friendliness bore not a trace of warmth on its face, it conveyed only a deep, bone chilling coldness.
At that moment, Qi Qi finally realized that this monster only seemed capable of uttering this single name.
And for some reason, it didn’t seem to have any desire to attack her.
A moment ago, paralyzed by fear, she hadn’t dared to look closely. But now that she had calmed down and was observing it, she could tell that despite the fine, dense scales covering most of its face, its facial features still bore a faintly familiar outline.
Especially those blue-green eyes. If not for the slit like vertical pupils of a beast, they were almost identical to a certain person’s heterochromatic eye.
But… that’s impossible, right?
After all, back when she bullied that special status student so badly, the girl hadn’t transformed like this to fight back. If she wanted revenge, why wait until now?
Looking closely again, it felt less and less like her. Whether in terms of facial features or temperament, the monster in front of her was far more gorgeous, wild, and sinister than that silent, gloomy student. Its presence and aura of pressure were terrifyingly strong.
That fleeting familiarity was probably just because attractive facial features often share similarities.
Although Shen Lu was usually obscured by the large birthmark on her face, her sickly thin frame from malnutrition, and her gloomy demeanor, judging purely by her features, she was undoubtedly a striking beauty.
Qi Qi was late to realize this, no wonder back then, when she usually had zero interest in such things, she had picked Shen Lu out at a single glance from among a crowd of special status students.
Silence returned to the room.
Bai Zhi, who was barely a palm’s distance away, seemed completely dead to the world. Even though Qi Qi had just made a fair amount of noise, the shape under the blanket beside her continued to rise and fall with slow, regular, tiny breaths. Her unguarded sleeping face was pure and lovely, like a flower… Wait, now is not the time to focus on that!
The problem was that Qi Qi had followed Bai Zhi’s request and done things she didn’t want to do, agreeing to sleep with her specifically to avoid being attacked by a monster in the middle of the night. Yet this person couldn’t be counted on at the crucial moment at all!
If glares could materialize into objects, Bai Zhi would have already been shot through like a pincushion by now.
And why didn’t the monster go after Bai Zhi, choosing instead to stare solely at poor, weak, helpless her?
Could it really be that something happened to Shen Lu and she died, but because her resentment hadn’t dissipated, she had come to seek revenge before moving on to the underworld?
While Qi Qi was thinking at breakneck speed, she secretly reached her hand out from beneath the blanket, intending to wake up the sweetly sleeping girl.
Why should I be suffering in deep waters and fierce fires here while you sleep right beside me, completely oblivious? Aren’t we in a sweet girlfriend relationship? If we die, we die together!
However, just as her fingertips were about to touch Bai Zhi, the monster lying quietly on top of her moved, so fast that the naked eye could barely track it. In the blink of an eye, the monster, which had just been holding her waist, was now so close its face almost pressed against hers. It opened its mouth at her, exposing row upon row of sharp, crisscrossed fangs.
The two outermost fangs on either side were the longest and sharpest, faintly gleaming with a cold, pale light.
She knew it, the monster wasn’t going to spare her.
The end was at hand.
Qi Qi gasped, instinctively closing her eyes in anticipation of the intense pain that was about to come.
Yet inside, she didn’t feel much fear of death or lingering attachment to the world. On the contrary, she felt a sense of relief that she wouldn’t have to stay in intimate contact with a monster incapable of human speech or emotion, unable to stop herself from letting out a sigh.
Hopefully, the process of dying and the pain will be as brief as possible.
Goodbye, boring world.
A wet sensation brushed against her eyelids, as if something long, slender, and flexible were repeatedly touching and caressing them. It felt warm at first, but was quickly chilled by the night air into a slick coldness.
Qi Qi guessed that the monster probably wanted to eat her and was using the long, split tongue characteristic of snakes to tentatively touch her, tasting her flavor first before the next step…
“Qi Qi…”
The monster persistently continued to utter that sound. Perhaps that was simply the natural call of its species.
During the long wait, Qi Qi’s fear was worn down to almost nothing. Now, a bit of impatience even welled up inside her, and she felt the urge to open her eyes and see what it was actually doing, though she managed to restrain herself.
“If you’re going to eat me, hurry up!”
This kind of thing was like getting a shot, the more you stared, the more your human imagination went to work, producing phantom pain. But if you kept your eyes closed, the sting wouldn’t feel nearly as bad as you imagined, it was just the waiting time that was agonizing.
That tongue stroked back and forth across her face like a lollipop for a long while before finally retracting, replaced by sharp fang tips that produced a stinging pain at the slightest touch against her skin…
The collar of her pajamas was ripped open without mercy. The cold breath exhaled by the monster was enough to raise goosebumps all over her body. She could feel the head lingering right in front of her, repeatedly licking her like a treasured item it had long missed, treating her skin and flesh with a desperate, feverish eagerness, refusing to pull away for the longest time.
It felt as though it would bite down hard in the very next second.
Qi Qi felt a shudder of disgust, yet she didn’t dare move an inch.
The monster’s small brain could hold very little.
Its earliest memory was waking up from a patch of darkness, then being drawn by a certain scent, following it all the way here to find the source, the human in front of it.
Originally, it had intended to eat the human into its stomach as the safest option. But the moment it saw this human’s face, it involuntarily softened its force, ultimately even falling asleep atop the delicious human it was supposed to consume, nestled against a place filled with human warmth and a wonderful fragrance.
Now, however, it didn’t really want to follow its original plan of devouring the human whole in one go. That would be too wasteful.
It wanted to lick her slowly, cherishingly savoring every bit of this delicacy.
Qi Qi’s patience vanished completely alongside the sticky sounds of sucking. Ultimately unable to hold back, she opened her eyes, and the moment she saw what was happening, she swiftly slapped the absorbed monster’s head to the side.
A crisp slap echoed through the room.
Seeing the monster just hanging its head without any reaction, seemingly stunned by her slap, Qi Qi took a moment to glance beside her.
Hmm. At such close range and with such a loud, clear sound, Bai Zhi was still sleeping, no, more accurately, she was unconscious.
There was no way a highly vigilant little fox would sleep like a dumb “drugged wife in an explicit novel” in someone else’s home, the monster must have forced her into a deep sleep.
“Did I give you permission to touch me like that?”
Qi Qi raised an eyebrow, narrowing her eyes as she glared at the still unresponsive monster. The corners of her eyes grew sharper and colder. The cold, unyielding air of the Qi family’s eldest young lady, who stood at the very top wherever she went, was fully displayed, yet the arrogance flashing in her eyes felt entirely natural.
It could eat her if it wanted, but she certainly hadn’t meant this kind of eating.
The monster finally raised its head.
After taking a slap, its sharp, narrow slit pupils seemed to clear up. Transparent saliva it hadn’t managed to swallow in time still hung at the corner of its mouth. Its blue-green eyes stared at her blankly, and its fiercely handsome, highly aggressive features drooped in disbelief, looking wronged and utterly bewildered.
“Qi Qi…?” Its speaking speed was much slower than before, and the end of its tone curved upward slightly, as if asking her why.
Qi Qi found it quite remarkable, she could actually read such rich expressions on a face covered mostly in snake scales, and could even guess the meaning behind its words.
This monster seems a little foolish.
“If you’re not going to eat me, get out.”
Qi Qi rubbed her own palm.
The scales on the monster’s face were a bit prickly. After landing that slap, the monster hadn’t felt much, but her own hand was already throbbing with a burning pain.
The monster couldn’t understand her words. It tilted its head and tried hard to think for a long time. Who knows what it came up with, but Qi Qi watched as the scales covering its body slowly faded at a speed visible to the naked eye, revealing fair, luminous skin underneath.
Along with a gorgeous, exquisite face that no one could resist falling for.
Qi Qi was a visual person.
Qi Qi was an utterly irredeemable visual person.
The eerie, terrifying atmosphere from just a moment ago instantly turned weird.
She coughed twice, her cold aura dissipating by half.
The monster acutely sensed that Qi Qi didn’t seem to be angry anymore, so it quickly pressed closer, taking her hand and placing it on its chest. Qi Qi instinctively looked down, a trembling expanse of pure white swayed slightly, seemingly signaling that she could do anything she wanted to it.
An equal exchange.
The monster looked at her eagerly. Before the saliva at the corner of its mouth had even dried, another drop trickled down. From time to time, it glanced down at the red cherry that had been cared for into full perkiness, looking desperately craving yet forced to hold back for Qi Qi’s sake, looking quite pitiable.
