“Uh,” Bai Mo instantly wiped the smile from his face. He really could not make fun of the guy for this. “Um, maybe your talent is so extraordinary that it invited jealousy.”
He patted Jun Wuye’s shoulder and continued, “Don’t worry about it. Since we two transmigrators have crossed paths, let us…”
Bai Mo stood up, pointed a finger at the sky, and shouted at the top of his lungs, “Overturn this sky!”
Boom! A sudden clap of thunder accompanied by a bolt of lightning struck down.
Bai Mo agilely dodged out of the blast zone, so terrified that he immediately covered his mouth.
Jun Wuye also dodged to the side, looking warily at the sky. If he had not reacted quickly just now, he would have been struck by lightning again. Now, hearing this sound gave him lingering trauma. “Why did you have to provoke it for no reason?”
Having said that, he picked up his sword from the side and walked toward the cave.
“Hey! Wait for me!” Keeping a wary eye on the sky, Bai Mo eagerly followed behind him.
Jun Wuye looked at the blocked passage in front of them. “Do you still have explosives?”
“Yes,” Bai Mo pulled out a tiny black coal-like ball from the cloth pouch at his waist to show Jun Wuye.
Jun Wuye looked at the object. “Is this very powerful?”
“It is smaller than the previous one, but blasting these rocks open should not be a problem. Step back a bit.”
Bai Mo waited until Jun Wuye retreated thirty feet away, then he pressed the small button, threw it, and ran backward.
Boom!
A loud blast rang out.
Jun Wuye looked at the newly cleared passage. No matter the era, the power of explosives was indeed formidable. Looking at Bai Mo, he asked, “How many of these do you have?”
Bai Mo patted the dirt off his hands. “As long as I have the raw materials, I can make as many as you want.”
“You know how to make explosives?”
Bai Mo raised his chin and said proudly, “This young master is a bomb researcher. Impressive, right?”
“Somewhat useful.”
Jun Wuye paid no further attention to Bai Mo. He needed to see if the snake was dead.
“Hey! What do you mean by that? Wait up!” Bai Mo quickly caught up.
Jun Wuye arrived at the previous battlefield and saw that the snake had been blown into three or four sections. He walked over, sliced open the snake’s body with his sword, and extracted the gallbladder. Fortunately, the gallbladder had not been ruptured by the blast, otherwise, this trip would have been for nothing.
Bai Mo walked over and glanced at the object in Jun Wuye’s hand. “What do you want that snake gallbladder for?”
“To neutralize poison.”
“You are poisoned?” Bai Mo asked casually.
“Yes.”
Bai Mo sized up Jun Wuye seriously this time. How was he still so energetic despite being poisoned? “Are you really poisoned?”
Jun Wuye did not want to answer this question again, so he turned around to leave.
Bai Mo stepped forward and grabbed him. “What kind of poison did you get?”
“Red Crane Crest.”
“Damn, that is highly lethal! How are you not dead yet?” Bai Mo stared at Jun Wuye as if looking at a monster.
Jun Wuye remained silent. He tightened his grip on the hilt of his sword, sorely tempted to slit his throat right then and there.
“No, that is not what I meant! I am just amazed that you are truly an extraordinary person. Incredible!” After saying this, Bai Mo gave Jun Wuye a thumbs-up, then pointed at the snake that had been blown into several sections. “Don’t you want this snake?”
Seeing Bai Mo’s excited expression, Jun Wuye knew that this guy had actually come for the snake meat. “If you can carry it, take it.” He only wanted the snake gallbladder.
“Borrowing your sword for a bit,” Bai Mo reached out and grabbed the sword from Jun Wuye’s hand.
Jun Wuye watched as Bai Mo used his precious sword to slice off a larger section of the snake’s body.
Bai Mo dragged a section of the snake over and returned the sword to Jun Wuye. “Hehehe, we will have meat to eat tonight. Do you want to come with me? I will share some of this meat with you.”
Jun Wuye had no interest in snake meat. Just as he was about to refuse, he heard Bai Mo continue, “It just so happens that Mo Luo’an can take a look at the poison in your body.”
“Alright.”
“You really do not hesitate to accept, do you? But good food is the only thing in life that must never be let down. I understand.” Bai Mo gave Jun Wuye a knowing look, thinking he had found a kindred spirit.
“What is your relationship with Medicine King Valley right now?”
“This body of mine does not belong to Medicine King Valley, but our families are generational friends.”
“Oh? Then what is your original identity’s name?”
“Chu Yan.”
Jun Wuye stopped in his tracks and sized up Bai Mo.
“What is it? Is there something on my face?” Bai Mo touched his face, causing some blood from his bruised face to smear further.
“Nothing, let’s go.” There was nothing on his face when he first asked, so this did not count as lying to him.
“Oh. So what was the name of your body’s original host?”
“Tang Yan.”
Chatting, the two of them walked toward the cave exit.
Bai Mo looked at the small, lean horse, then at the thick snake body by his feet. It seemed the horse could not carry this weight, and that broken map could not store it away for now. He looked at the surrounding trees. “Borrowing your sword again.”
He took the sword from Jun Wuye’s hand and chopped at a large tree, which came crashing down.
Bai Mo looked at the sword in his hand with surprise. “This sword of yours is quite handy.”
Jun Wuye crossed his arms and let out a soft grunt in agreement. That was the personal sword of the original host’s mother, a famous blade named Gouyue, yet it was being used to chop wood. How could it not be handy?
Jun Wuye watched as Bai Mo quickly put together a makeshift sled cart. “Was your family in the furniture business?”
Bai Mo’s hand paused. This was something from his life several incarnations ago. His parents had died early, and he lived with his uncle, who was a carpenter. He had learned all of this from him. “Yeah, I learned it back in the day.”
Jun Wuye casually praised, “Then you certainly know quite a few trades.”
Bai Mo said proudly, “Of course. Just look at who this young master is.”
“Heh.” This guy really could not handle a compliment. Jun Wuye stopped watching Bai Mo fiddle with those gadgets, found a flat spot, sat down, and began to regulate his breathing.
After fussing around for quite a while, Bai Mo finally assembled a minimalist pull-cart. He placed the section of the snake on it and secured it tightly with tree vines.
After regulating his breathing for a while, Jun Wuye’s body felt a bit better. Seeing that Bai Mo was finished, he stood up and walked over.
Bai Mo tested the strength of the vine ropes. Seeing Jun Wuye approach, he said, “We can set off now.”
Jun Wuye looked at the cart; it was actually made quite well.
Seeing the other man sizing up his handiwork, Bai Mo said proudly, “Not bad, right?”
“It looks the part.”
“Tch!” Would it kill you to give a proper compliment? Bai Mo looked at Jun Wuye. “Get on the horse. I still need to make it there before dark.”
“You sit in front,” Jun Wuye said.
“Brother, look at what I am pulling. Do you know how to ride a horse?” Bai Mo was speechless. Didn’t front or back make the same difference? They were both grown men; why be so fussy?
“As a matter of fact, I really do know how to ride a horse.” Jun Wuye recalled that he used to visit equestrian clubs in the past. However, looking at the bloody object, the scent of blood gave him a strange, inexplicable sensation. Sitting in the front was fine.
Once Jun Wuye leapt onto the horse, Bai Mo vaulted up behind him. “I believe you. This posture of yours shows you really have practiced before.”
Jun Wuye did not want to pay him any mind. Why was this person pressing so close? He nudged himself forward a bit, but the person behind him pressed close again. He could even breathe in the air the other exhaled, carbon dioxide tainted with the smell of blood. “Don’t lean so close to me.”
“I don’t want to either! The space is only this big. Look at us, we are two grown men; it is already a miracle we can both fit,” Bai Mo complained. It was his mount, and he had not complained at all, yet this guy had the nerve to look down on him first. It really was hard to be a good person in any world.
“Sit tight! Giddy up!”
Leading Jun Wuye and dragging a section of the snake, Bai Mo headed toward the cave once more.
“Why are you entering the cave again?”
“To take a shortcut! Stop shifting around; it is making it hard for me to steer the horse.”
The figures of the two vanished into the mouth of the cave.
