The New Streamer
“Good thing Mom and Dad didn’t hear that.
Where did you even learn those words?”
Gabriel sighed in relief as he glanced behind to check that his parents hadn’t noticed what had just happened.
So, he turned back and lightly scolded his younger sister, whose angry expression now turned sad with guilt.
“Sorry, but that person is infuriating.” Gloria apologized quickly, realizing her mistake.
“What’s the point of getting angry?
In the end, he doesn’t know us anyway.
We’re the ones left to deal with the anger we create ourselves.”
Gabriel’s heart softened, seeing the guilt on his younger sister’s face, not daring to scold her too much.
“He insulted you, Big Brother.
I can’t let that slide!” Gloria scrunched her face, dissatisfied.
“But weren’t you the one who previously said we can’t make everyone like us?
Why get so worked up over something this small?”
“…” Once her older brother asked her back, Gloria was left speechless, unable to argue.
Everything Big Brother said was right.
Having lived two lifetimes and once holding the rank as high as a general in one of those, it was embarrassing to lower herself to being an anti-streamer like an immature child, so embarrassing that she wanted to crawl into a hole.
“Let’s turn off the stream and go eat.”
Upon seeing that, Gabriel decided not to press further.
He quickly told her to close the stream.
Then, he led his little sister to the dining table to have a meal with everyone present, the first time in months.
However, the siblings’ action was under the eye of their parents.
They clearly saw that unusual manner, but they didn’t want to ask too much, so they decided to let it pass.
“How long has it been since we all had a meal together?
I’ve missed you both so much,” Augustin remarked, sitting down.
“By the way, how’s your business going, Dad?” Gloria, who was next to take her seat, ignored it.
She quickly brought up a new topic.
“Hmm?
You never ask about my work.
What’s piqued your interest today?”
The father raised an eyebrow in surprise.
He had already accepted that his business might not have a successor, since the two siblings seemed to have no interest in this area of work, especially the older one, who had firmly decided to be a streamer.
But he didn’t expect the younger one to ask such a question.
“Oh, nothing special.
I was just curious.
There’s been news lately about a deserted planet in Sagittarius that’s being planned for transformation into people’s residences.
But because the process takes so many years, its current price has dropped.” Gloria explained as she scooped rice into her mouth.
“Don’t talk with your mouth full.”
Gabriel wanted to cry.
Why did his younger sister’s ladylike manners seemed to be deteriorating more and more each day?
It pained him as her older brother to see it.
“It’s fine.
We’re all close here,” Gloria dismissed it without care and continued scooping the rice into her mouth.
This resulted in all three “close” members exchanging helpless glances.
How could the parents not notice how hard their son was trying to look after his only younger sister?
Yet the older Gloria grew, the more stubborn she became.
She started to push back and trust her own judgments more, sometimes even unintentionally shocking those around her.
They didn’t know if it was because she was currently being in a rebellious teenage phase, but if that was the case, why didn’t their son ever behave such way?
“Are you interested in that planet?” Augustin caught on to his daughter’s wish quickly.
“Yes.” Gloria did not deny.
“That planet’s location is perfect for Big Brother.”
“For me?” Gabriel paused.
He had been quietly eating, yet he was drawn into the conversation.
“Yes!
That planet has been assessed by the governing authorities to be a future hub for streamers due to its position as a central link between several other planets.
Otherwise, those people wouldn’t be putting in the effort to terraform it despite the longer-than-standard timeline.
Its location is truly ideal.”
Upon seeing her older brother made a face that showed he didn’t understand, Gloria set her bowl down and explained it.
This was confidential information from the governing authorities—the space military—that hadn’t been officially disclosed yet.
But don’t forget that in her past life, she was a general in charge of confidential documents, therefore, even if what had happened predated her official position, she knew about it.
She had to convince her father to buy land on that planet before prices shot up.
“How did you find out about this?” Augustin couldn’t help being surprised.
“It’s information I analyzed from the governing authority’s sources,” Gloria answered with a serious expression.
“Are you sure?” He double-checked.
“I’m sure.
If you’re still unsure, you can have someone investigate further,” Gloria smiled slyly.
“Dad, I know your business has grown enough to expand into the Sagittarius group.
Why not take a little risk?”
Upon hearing it, Augustin laughed in satisfaction.
“So, you’re paving the way for your older brother, huh?
Don’t you want to help your dad, too?
I’m starting to feel a bit hurt.”
“You’ve already got Mom’s help.
It’s right for me to help Big Brother.” The girl raised her chin as she said it without caring.
“What are you all talking about?”
Gabriel, the only one in the family who had zero knowledge about business matters, asked about it since he didn’t understand.
Normally, when his family talked about such matter, he would let these conversations slide, but since the conversation before him seemed related to him, Gabriel hesitated to ignore it.
“It’s nothing, just some small stuff.
Leave it to me.
You just focus on streaming,” Gloria brushed it off.
“But weren’t you the one who kept asking to stream with me?” Gabriel started to feel angry upon seeing how his younger sister did not care about it.
Previously, she had begged him persistently to stream together, but when it came down to it, she was the first to jump ship.
How could Gabriel not feel resentful?!
“Well, I’m not eighteen yet.” Upon hearing it, Gloria made a panic face as she sought for an excuse.
“It’s okay.
I can wait.” He was confident that he was more patient than he thought.
Waiting another year or two wouldn’t be too late.
“You may be willing to wait, but I won’t let you.” Upon hearing that, the young woman raised her index finger and waved it back and forth.
“At the very least, you need to try streaming for once to gain some experience.”
“…” Gabriel was at a loss for words again.
Such an action of her made his heart felt an itch to do something with it.
It seemed his nervous demeanor made his little sister thought he was inexperienced and weak, when the truth was clearly the opposite to Gloria’s thought.
If a former King of Musicians like him didn’t have experience performing in front of large audiences, then no one would dare to claim to be experienced!
And so, one of the most exciting moments of his life had arrived.
Gabriel stared intently at the black piano before him, his little heart starting to pound with excitement.
In just a few minutes, it would be the time he set for the very first streaming in Gabriel Salazar’s life.
At the moment, the young man wasn’t in the familiar living room.
All the instruments had been moved to a new room that had just finished the constructing process a few days prior.
All of this was for privacy.
The parents had allocated a room next to his and his younger sister’s bedrooms to be a dedicated streaming space, which it also turned into his and Gloria’s practicing space as well.
Naturally, both siblings liked it so much.
The reason was that the room was designed to have windows surrounding the room, which they could look outside.
It was also designed to be able to reflect the sound, making the music even more beautiful.
For a professional musician’s music performance, the venue is crucial.
The reason is that the properly designed spaces can reflect the sound waves produced by instruments in a way that enhances their quality and make them echoed throughout the room.
Therefore, people in the past preferred enjoying music in theaters or other venues specially designed for musical performances rather than open spaces.
Gabriel, therefore, was determined that his first stream should be in a suitable space—like the room he now stood in, feeling so nervous that his hands had turned icy cold.
Meanwhile, his younger sister Gloria seemed so cold-blooded, leaving her older brother to sit there in excitement alone!
Beep!
Beep!
“Master, the streaming system is now ready.
Would you like to start the stream?”
AI Alan inquired as Gabriel’s scheduled time arrived.
This was one of the settings Gabriel had set up to push himself indirectly.
Even though everything was thoroughly prepared, he couldn’t help but pressed his full lips tightly together in anxiety.
This wasn’t the first performance of the King of Musicians, but it was his first as an ordinary person in the planets era.
However, the fear growing within him couldn’t overshadow his love for music any longer.
With that realization, the light brown eyes filled with more resolve.
“Start the stream.” Gabriel decided to start the new chapter in his second life more firmly.
“Understood, Master.”
The livestream of G Clef had begun!
[First one here.
I’m so surprised to see a new streamer opening their streaming today for the first time.]
[Streaming without showing your face?
That’s rare.
I only came in because I saw you’re in a beginner level and wanted to give some encouragement before leaving.]
[Yo!
Just popping in to say hi to the new streamer!!]
As Gabriel’s G Clef channel stream began, quite a lot of messages immediately flooding in, with notification sounds going off sporadically.
Most of the messages were greetings and words of encouragement.
A few sent the messages that expressed their surprise upon seeing that this new streamer didn’t reveal his face, but those were in the minority.
The warm welcome before him was something Alan had already informed him about it, telling him what it was.
Thus, Gabriel wasn’t too surprised.
Most of these messages came from those who called themselves ‘babysitters.’ They were the group of people who enjoyed newbies’ mistakes.
They claimed that they advised them out of care and concern, just like a babysitter who looked after the baby streamer, when in fact, they focused on finding those innocent streamers’ mistakes.
They were no different from a pack of wolves that aimed to catch a lamb that had just tried to walk.
When these newbies unintentionally made a mistake, it became entertainment for these babysitters, just as they wished for.
“Hello,” Gabriel greeted with an unmistakable excitement in his voice, no matter how long he had tried to prepare himself mentally.
[This is exactly the character of a rookie boy!]
[The streamer playing the piano?]
[Haven’t seen anyone play the piano in ages.
Most people switched to violin contents, haha.]
[Now I want to know how good he plays.
Heh-heh.]
Seeing the boy who seemed young sitting to greet the viewers in front of a piano, with a cute bear sticker covering his face, everyone quickly guessed the channel’s content.
Yet among the babysitters, who made up more than half of the viewers, what they wanted wasn’t the content, but the mistakes of the streamers… Especially, the mistakes of inexperienced newbies who seemed awkward.
The owner of this channel seemed to be one of those steamers too.
“Yes, I play the piano.
This is my first livestream.”
Fortunately, the sticker covered his face, or everyone would have known that Gabriel was so excited that his face turned white like paper.
[Don’t be shy.
We’re just here to cheer on the first stream of the streamers.]
[To that comment above mine.
Is that really true, though?
I saw you’re one of those *babysitters.]
[Shit!
Don’t out your own crew!]
Seeing the viewer count stay in the double digits, Gabriel secretly sighed.
It was lucky that today was a holiday evening, therefore, his stream coincided with the livestreaming of top-tier streamers.
This kept the audience smaller than usual, which suited his current state as he was excited with this unfamiliar system.
[But the streamer is quite confident.
He picked his first stream to clash with Fiddle’s live session.
That guy’s pulling peak numbers again today.]
[I’m tired of his channel.
He just repeats the songs from other people’s channels.
There’s no new, interesting song, and he’s always boasting that he’s good at it.
So full of himself.]
[Don’t talk about other streamers in this channel!
Show some respect for the streamer.]
[Ah!
G Clef is doing the streaming!]
[Wait, what?
Who’s G Clef?]
[Holy!
I clicked in without knowing—this really is G Clef’s channel!
I didn’t expect him to actually stream.]
[Whoa, it’s the real G Clef.]
[Ahhh!
I thought I was seeing things.]
“Yes, I’m G Clef.”
Luckily, the chat wasn’t moving too quickly since there weren’t too many messages yet, so Gabriel could keep up with what everyone was typing.
Initially, everyone was just talking about how he concealed his face in his first stream, and how he was doing piano content that wasn’t as popular anymore.
Some even bragged about other channels in the comments, which was annoying.
However, before he could say anything, someone brought up that he was G Clef.
With that, the remaining viewers were shocked, talking non-stop like a sparrow.
They did not only shout, but also rapidly flooded the chat with their messages in excitement, as if this was the first time they found something odd.
Gabriel watched the scene before him with a twitching eyebrow, feeling like he couldn’t laugh or cry.
At first, he hadn’t thought much of it, but seeing this, he was now fully convinced—these people were definitely the ‘babysitters’ in disguise.
They hadn’t even bothered to check the channel’s name of the streaming.
It was clear their intention was to bully a rookie streamer!
