The Independent Streamer
It had been four days since the last livestream on the G Clef channel ended.
Fans, who had been left there, brought their bodies, without soul, out of the streaming channel and continued their conversation.
The thing they saw in that livestream was too wonderful to keep it to themselves.
Especially the performance of the final piece—so intense it seemed to devour the viewers’ souls!
Thus, they needed a place to vent their emotions, or else they’d die from the overwhelming desire to speak.
After discussing it, everyone had the same opinion: The mind-blowing skill that even the devil respected it had to shake up the entire streaming world.
They were 100% sure of it.
Certainly, their prediction turned out to be true.
If Winter was just an ordinary bomb, then Caprice No.
5 was a nuclear bomb.
Its difficulty left people in panic.
These topics weren’t that widespread in the beginning.
However, after streamers flocked to G Clef channel to study the violin techniques, it turned out that they didn’t watch for long before they were shocked at the gap in skill, which they couldn’t reach.
Even Fiddle, a genius, threw in the towel.
That guy had already conceded defeat after witnessing the muted violin technique in Autumn, not to mention Caprice No.
5, which was harder than every song combined.
It brought tears to the eyes of many violin streamers.
As the word spread among streamers, fans grew curious about who had left their streamers looking so downcast.
Without delay, this large group of people went to check it out.
In the end, both streamers and fans ended up holding each other and crying over the difference in skill once again.
This is god!
He really is a god!
“Haha!
Big Brother!
They’re calling you the God of Violin.”
Gloria, who had been following news of streamers world, burst out.
She giggled at those exaggerated words.
Of course, she loved the title of “God” given to her older brother.
Other than this word, there was no other word that would fit him, as it was truly beyond a genius.
“They’re exaggerating,” Gabriel sighed.
“You’re the one being modest.
You’re this good, you should puff your chest, like that Fiddle guy.
If you did that, he wouldn’t stand a chance,” Gloria laughed loudly in satisfaction.
“…” Gabriel looked at his younger sister with a blank expression.
Ever since Gloria discovered that the well-known violin streamer, Fiddle, who constantly jabbed at him, was actually just a tsundere fan, her hostility towards the other party had mellowed.
Now, she only threw in the occasional snide comment.
“Ahem!
Anyway, haven’t any guilds reached out to you?”
Upon seeing her older brother’s expression, Gloria realized that she had expressed her thoughts too much.
So, she changed the subject.
“Guilds?
Yeah, a few have,” Gabriel nodded.
Gloria was shocked when she heard it.
“Which ones?” She asked in a serious tone.
This was another crucial matter for streamers: choosing a guild to join.
It was a process that could flip a streamer’s life upside down with just one choice.
If someone was lucky enough to choose a guild that suited them well, they could become a star that would never fade from the sky.
On the flip side, choosing the wrong one could turn what should have been a good outcome into a bad one.
“I don’t know.
I haven’t really checked.”
Gabriel answered with a shrug, not paying attention, as he was fully focused on reading the messages from the fans in the G Clef channel’s community.
“This is really important.
If you make a decision without careful consideration, it won’t be good,” Gloria said with a serious expression.
One thing she knew before she died was the web of corruption tied to those vile families who aimed to exploit those unable to defend themselves.
One of the paths that was clearly involved with them was the streamer industry, especially the large guilds which were deeply rooted in this web by those people for ages.
She feared her older brother might become a target for these scummy guilds.
Thus, Gloria was so worried.
Given her older brother’s recently growing popularity, it was inevitable more people would start taking interest in him.
Once he reached a certain point, these guilds would rush in to pull him into their organization—and she wouldn’t let that happen for sure.
“Huh?
About the guild thing?
Let’s just leave that to the future.” Gabriel still clearly expressed that he had no interest in the matter.
Seeing this, Gloria was furious.
She rushed at her older brother, who kept pretending not to pay attention to her, in anger.
“Big Brother!
Pay attention!
This is important.
You can’t just pick a guild carelessly!” she shouted, grabbing and shaking him hard enough to make his head spin.
The little sister approached Gabriel, and she shook him until he was dizzy.
That was when he quickly stopped everything.
He started to really fear his younger sister, especially for her strength, which was scarier with each passing day.
How scary it was?
Well, just a few days ago, when he strolled in the back yard, he accidentally saw his little sister punch a tree and leave a hole in it.
He didn’t even have to imagine what would happen if she punched a person.
Gabriel secretly gulped in his mind and even thought that in the future, he might not need to worry about his safety anymore—with a powerful younger sister by his side like this.
“Wait!
Calm down.
I was just joking.” Gabriel was shaken till his tongue nearly got out of his mouth.
So, he had to raise his hands in surrender.
“Then tell me now—what’s your plan for the guild?” Gloria stepped away, sitting with her arms crossed and staring at him intently during the wait for an answer.
“I’m planning to be an independent streamer,” Gabriel told her his wish as an answer.
“An independent streamer?” This was far beyond what Gloria had expected.
She thought her big brother would choose to be in a large guild.
“I don’t like people interfering with how I play music.
Having someone constantly dictating how I express myself would be so uncomfortable for me.”
This was something Gabriel had always held firmly to—an artist’s expression should be free.
He must be able to play the songs he wanted to play and not be forced into ones he didn’t.
“I understand…”
It was an unexpected answer, but it suited her older brother well.
At least, Gloria could cut down her worry regarding the guild matter.
“Aren’t you surprised?”
It turned out the one who continued to feel surprised was Gabriel himself.
He had always thought that people of this era saw streamers and guilds as inseparable.
He hadn’t expected his younger sister, who took his streamer role more seriously than anything else, to not question it at all—she even seemed relieved.
“Being an independent streamer is a good idea.
I think it suits you, too.
This way, you won’t have to force yourself to do things you don’t like.
You might be at a disadvantage financially without a guild, but Mom and Dad have the fund for this to support you, there shouldn’t be any problem—unless you are swayed by challenging words and create a money-wasting content like playing music while riding a spaceship around the galaxy,” Gloria explained.
“Hearing it like that makes me feel more confident.” Gabriel grinned widely when he heard it.
He then stood up and stretched his body.
“Where are you going?” Gloria asked out of curiosity when she saw her big brother’s determined demeanor.
“Well, now that I’ve become the God of Violin, I suddenly feel like becoming the God of Piano too,” Gabriel shrugged as he answered.
“…” Gloria was speechless.
She started to feel like, at this moment, her older brother was so annoying!
Gabriel walked into the music room with a swelled heart.
The doll-like face of his wore a slight smile at the corners of his lips.
He felt incredibly happy.
What his younger sister had told him earlier was something he had never experienced in his previous life.
The feeling of having someone significant to him watching over him as he moved forward was this warm.
He felt truly lucky to be part of such a lovely family.
“How would you like to stream today, Master?” Alan asked, sensing his master’s bright mood.
“Today, I’ll stream only piano,” Gabriel replied as he checked the large instrument in front of him to see if it was ready for use.
“Currently, the trend about Master’s violin performance is very strong.
If you continue streaming with the violin, your chances of being promoted to a Level IX streamer will increase.”
Alan didn’t understand.
According to scientific and mathematical analysis, streaming with the violin would be more beneficial to his master than the piano.
“I don’t want to play just one instrument.
I want to play everything I want to play.”
Gabriel chose to say only this because he didn’t want to repeat the choices of his past life.
His path as a professional violinist had made him lose the chance to play the piano, which he loved just as much.
Therefore, in the life which he was free from professional constraints, he wanted to do everything he desired—and he wanted to do it all as best as possible!
“Understood.” Even though it didn’t understand its master’s answer, Alan had no intention to question him further.
“The piano is ready.
Let’s start the stream,” Gabriel nodded, signaling Alan.
Upon his command, the streaming system, which had been inactive, came back to life once again.
This time, it was noticeably different from his two previous streams, as notification sounds rang continuously because the viewers flooded in to bask in the divine aura of the G Clef channel, quickly filling up the space.
[The god is here!
The god is here!]
[Ahhhh!
G God finally showed up.]
[Still not used to that cute bear sticker of the god.
Don’t you want to take it off?]
[I came here from another streamer’s channel.
They said this one is extremely good at playing the violin!]
[It’s not weird to call the god a ‘little bear,’ since every time I come in, I startle by that bear face sticker.]
[God, will you use this sticker forever?
I want to cry.]
[I want to see your face too, God.
Can’t you do that for us?]
Gabriel raised an eyebrow at the messages that came in non-stop.
He read them with a weird feeling that popped up in his heart.
What surprised Gabriel wasn’t the doubled number of viewers or the lively atmosphere in the chat, but the title that these people used to call him.
What was that ‘God’ title?
He knew he was skilled at playing music, but he never thought that there would be someone who dared to call him with such an embarrassing nickname like this.
“Hello, everyone!
It’s been a while.”
Gabriel waved to greet the viewers.
At this moment, he felt more used to chatting with these people.
In truth, it was because he worried for nothing.
After he experienced it for himself through the two streaming sessions, he found that those people were not scary at all—more like excited children encountering something new.
This helped Gabriel feel less pressure when playing, which was even a far cry from the days when he was the King of Musicians, since facing biased critiques from old academics was far more troubling.
[God didn’t show up for just four days, but I felt like waiting for four years.]
[To the comment above: Don’t lie!
It was actually forty years!]
[God, please reveal your face, even just a bit.]
[Exactly, even if you’re super ugly, we won’t be scared!
Because your skill already outshines your look!]
[I support the face reveal too!]
[Just a little peek.
Promise we won’t screenshot.]
The corner of Gabriel’s mouth twitched as he saw the messages that kept asking him to reveal his face.
Why were these people so fixated on his looks?
Were they really going to die if they didn’t see his face?
“I’m afraid I can’t do that,” Gabriel shook his head, refusing.
“I promised my little sister I’d keep covering my face with this sticker until we can stream together.”
In his head, he apologized to Gloria for using her as an excuse.
It was necessary, he really wasn’t ready to reveal his face yet.
Gabriel lamented.
[Wait?!
God has a little sister?]
[Sister!?]
[For those who came late, you may not know about this.
If you look at the old clips of the God, you can see his younger sister playing piano.]
[So, that little one is going to be a streamer too?
I’m looking forward to it already.]
[How old is God’s sister?]
“My sister is sixteen now.
Just two more years, everyone.”
Gabriel happened to see the questions asking about Gloria’s age, so he answered while raising two fingers to symbolize the time of two years.
[!!!]
[First shock: the little sister is so young but plays piano incredibly.
Second shock: I have to wait two years!]
[Nooo!
Someone help meee!]
[I’m shocked!
Two years!
IT’S TWO YEARS!]
Die-hard fans screamed upon hearing that.
They couldn’t accept it!
Impatience was a nature of people in the planets era, they loved things to be easy and quick, didn’t like to wait.
Thus, technologies that quickly catered to their needs became very popular.
Streaming was one of those.
But it turned out that the streamer before them behaved in a way that challenged the patience of the people in planets era, catching them off guard.
They could only grit their teeth in anger, dying to throw a fit.
However, there was another thought, they didn’t dare to express it too obviously, since they scared that the streamer would be scared and shocked, which might lead to him stop streaming altogether.
If things went like that, they would be in much trouble!
[What song will God play today?
How about Caprice No.
5?
I want to see it again.]
[I really love listening to God’s performances.
This is my first time watching the stream, and I’m super excited.]
[But why is there no violin today?]
[Yeah, does that mean there won’t be a performance today?]
[There’s no violin, but the piano is there, you idiots!
Can’t you guess?
God’s going to play the piano!]
[To the comment above, could you stop acting like a rabid dog?
Didn’t your dad give you a bone?
Shoo, shoo!]
[It’s been a while since God played the piano.]
[Piano?
Ahhhhh, I love the piano too, though not as much as the violin.]
[I’m not really into the piano, but if God’s playing it, I’ll give it a listen.]
Gabriel looked at the comments which flowed so quickly that it made him feel dizzy.
There were many people who liked the piano and many who disliked it.
Despite that, he had no intention to abandon his original intention.
Today, he had set out to play the piano.
Even if half the viewers left the livestream, he wouldn’t be sad.
But surprisingly, despite the fact that some people didn’t like it, they stayed to listen to G Clef the Great God’s songs, and for that, Gabriel was so grateful.
“You guessed right.
Today, I’m planning to play the piano today.
It’s been a while since I last played, and I’ve missed it a bit,” Gabriel said with a bright laugh.
“… And the piece I’m going to play today is by a composer that some of you will definitely recognize.
His name is Ludwig van Beethoven.
Does anyone here recognize that name?”
