The seat behind Jiang You was occupied by Yu Lin.

Yu Lin was just wondering who could be so brazen as to dare make her give up her seat when she looked up and saw the golden rose brooch.

He had azure-blue hair, a bit long, with the ends curling in a messy, casual way. The color was darker at the tips, like a wash of deep blue.Full novel: The System Ordered Every Insult—and They Heard It All — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

His features were handsome, his skin extremely fair. His narrow blue eyes held a scattered, amorous smile, but there was a tired darkness beneath them.

His Rose Liss school uniform was worn loosely.

When Yu Lin saw the golden rose brooch, she knew who this was.

"O-Okay." The arrogant expression on her face vanished, and her cheeks flushed slightly. She hurriedly gathered the books on her desk and left the seat, clutching them to her chest.

She went and sat down in the seat in front of Lin Xue.

Shen Lan naturally took the seat in the very back and sat down.

Right behind Jiang You.

There was a look of fatigue in his eyes; he had played games all night and was naturally sleepy.

Class had already started.

The teacher at the podium naturally saw this scene but didn’t say anything. Shen Lan had made it just as the bell rang.

"It’s the first day of school, so let’s do a roll call to get to know each other and see if anyone is late on the very first day." The homeroom teacher was an intellectual and elegant woman.

She had already introduced herself earlier. Her name was Li Ya.

Teacher Li was calling out names.

Shen Lan wasn’t paying attention to the front of the class. He just felt very sleepy and wanted to doze off.

But his gaze fell upon the long, soft pink hair resting on his desk.

His eyes flickered up. He rested his chin casually in his palm, his gaze fixed on the back of the pink-haired head in front of him.

The girl in front was leaning against his desk, putting on makeup with a small mirror. A few strands of pink hair had fallen onto his desktop.

Shen Lan raised an eyebrow slightly. Just as he was about to say something, the girl sat up straight again.

Jiang You silently sat up. The moment she heard that distinct, pleasant, and raspy voice, she knew it had to be the male lead.

’This is toxic. The plot must be poisoned!’

’There was clearly a seat behind the female lead over there.’

’According to the plot, this amorous male lead should have gone directly to the empty seat, the one behind the female lead.’

’It’s a mess, a total mess!’

Jiang You decided to ignore it. ’As long as I complete my missions, that’s all that matters. I’m not about to go around maintaining the plot.’

’I was forced into this deal anyway.’

Shen Lan felt a sweet scent of peaches lingering around his nose.

His gaze fell on the desk of the girl in front of him.

A bottle of pink peach-flavored milk with a straw in it. The tip of the straw was still damp, with a hint of milk residue.

His blue eyes shifted ever so slightly.

A moment later, Shen Lan flopped onto his desk to sleep. With his messy blue hair and tall frame, he looked like a picturesque scene even when slumped over his desk.

"Jiang You." Teacher Li called her name.

"Here." Jiang You stood up and answered.

As the girl stood up, Shen Lan felt a gust of wind carry over an even richer, sweet scent of peaches. It was almost cloying.

’Jiang You, huh? And here I thought her name would be Jiang Tao.’

He found it a little hard to sleep now. He leaned back in his chair, long legs stretched out casually. His eyelids were still half-closed, his gaze seeming to land on the girl in front of him.

’Her waist... is pretty slim.’

Teacher Li called the next person’s name, and Jiang You sat down. A figure walked past the window, and the person seemed to turn their head to look at her.

Jiang You sensed the gaze from outside and instinctively turned to look, but the person had already passed the window. All she saw was a black school bag.

She didn’t pay it much mind and looked away.

The person who had just passed by was none other than Zhou Yu.

He walked past nervously.

His long, dark hair hung down, obscuring parts of his eyes and brows. His thick, inky-black eyes seemed to shift like liquid ink, and his pale fingertips clutched at his clothes.

Zhou Yu realized their classrooms were quite close.

His classroom was right next to hers.

This discovery made his heart leap with a small thrill.

Jiang You listlessly flipped through her textbook. *The Cultivation and Evolution of Beast Souls*, *The Diversity of Beast Soul Species*, *A History of Modern Interstellar Development*, and something about *healing power*?

Combat Beast Soul, Healing Beast Soul...

’Great, just great. I don’t understand any of this.’

She didn’t even have to pretend to be dumb, because this was completely different from what she had learned in her past life.

If she had to take a test, she’d probably do even worse than the original owner of this body.

"Good, no one was late on the first day. I’m very pleased." Teacher Li smiled. "So, let’s reward everyone with a start-of-school diagnostic test."

The class immediately broke into groans of despair.

Li Ya continued to smile. "During evening self-study tonight, we’ll elect class officers. And a friendly reminder: the results of this test will be weighted in the election."

Ignoring the groans, the tests were quickly distributed.

Jiang You passed the test papers to the desk behind her without looking back.

She looked at the comprehensive assessment test on her desk and picked up her pink gel pen.

’In my past life, I graduated from a top-tier university, for crying out loud. In this life, I’m an illiterate.’

Jiang You felt like she recognized every word, but when they were put together, she couldn’t find the right answer.

’What kind of questions are these?’

Which of the following is the Level 3 form of an Iron-Eating Bear?

A. A small brown bear

B. A brown bear with iron skin

C. A brown bear whose entire body is made of iron skin

D. A brown bear whose entire body is made of dirt

Four pictures of different-looking bears.

Jiang You: Huh?

’It should be the third one, right?’ she guessed. ’Level 3 form... still an Iron-Eating Bear...’

Then there was an interstellar history question.

In what Interstellar Year did the insect plague break out across the universe?

A. 1306

B. 1360

C. 1406

D. 1460

’As an earthling, I’ve never heard of this history before.’

’Whatever, I’ll just guess.’

Jiang You didn’t know the answers to any of the remaining questions, so she resorted to a classic guessing strategy: if three options are long and one is short, pick the short one; if three are short and one is long, pick the long one.

Twenty multiple-choice questions.

But to Jiang You, it felt like a century had passed.

Shen Lan, sitting behind her, hadn’t planned on writing anything and was just going to leave his test blank.

But he watched the girl in front of him clutching her hair, looking like she was racking her brain.

’This hard?’

Shen Lan was the type of person who enjoyed a challenge, so he picked up the test to have a look.

These questions...

...were too easy.

Shen Lan took one look and found them so simple he had no interest in writing the answers.

His gaze fell on Jiang You’s test paper.

’Hmm, first question, wrong.’

’Second question, wrong.’

’Third question, wrong.’

...

’Wow, she perfectly avoided every single correct answer. A genius in her own right.’

"Pfft." Shen Lan couldn’t help but let out a laugh. In the quiet classroom, the sound was rather abrupt.

He quickly suppressed it, pretending to cough a few times. "Ahem..."

Jiang You’s pen paused. ’He’s probably not laughing at me, right?’

’It’s fine. If I fail, I fail. My character setting is a bad student anyway.’

It was a good thing, too. Otherwise, Jiang You would be having a real headache.

Because she really didn’t know any of it.

Finally, the bell for the end of class rang.

Shen Lan, who had been behind her, had already left his seat.

"Sister You, let’s go eat." Her three little followers only dared to approach after Shen Lan had left.

Jiang You had just stood up.

[Mission Five has been issued.]
