Therefore, Wen Song didn’t particularly dislike Wen Xu.
Even though the things the other party said with his mouth were indeed very harsh, he had seen things far harsher than that.
Compared to those seemingly kind and hypocritical people who would stab you in the back, someone with a personality like Wen Xu’s was at least easy to understand.
The two of them walked past rows of seats, headed up to the second floor, and found the loft belonging to their Wen family.
Before they even went inside, however, they ran into the people next door.
“Hi, Xiaoxi.” Seeing Wen Xu looking like a prince, Duan Ze’s eyes lit up.
“Long time no see. You’re getting prettier and prettier.”
Wen Song’s immediate impression of Duan Ze was that of a flirtatious dog seeing a pretty bone and rushing straight up to lick it wildly.
Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Guan Sui standing next to Duan Ze.
Their gazes collided.
Before crossing that boundary, even if they ran into each other in the same setting and locked eyes, they would look away in under a second. Their gazes would never contain any emotion, maintaining a consistent coldness.
But this time, Wen Song clearly felt a fiery intensity mixed into the depths of the Alpha’s eyes.
He didn’t seem worried at all about being caught by anyone nearby with an ulterior motive.
Wen Song thought to himself: Being targeted by a shady, powerful Alpha is truly terrifying.
Having been subjected to a barrage of glib praises, Wen Xu got goosebumps all over his body. He frowned and glanced sideways at the Alpha before him, the coldness in his eyes nearly overflowing, and let out a light sneer. “Duan Ze, you’re such a pervert.”
Duan Ze wasn’t angered by the scolding at all, merely hooking the corners of his lips. “Is this your first day knowing me?”
“Why are you here at the auction too?” Wen Xu asked.
Duan Ze reached out and pointed at Guan Sui, who had been staring fixedly at Wen Song the entire time.
“I came with Ah Sui.”
The second-floor loft boxes of the two families were very close to each other, obviously arranged together intentionally.
Wen Xu glanced at Guan Sui, but the latter maintained an indifferent expression, showing no intention of greeting him whatsoever.
Very well.
That was the exact same thought he had.
“Is there anything you want to buy?” Duan Ze asked.
Feeling uncomfortable under Guan Sui’s constant stare, Wen Song cleared his throat and interrupted their conversation. “If there’s a chance, we can catch up later. Standing here in the hallway blocks the way for other bidders.”
The second-floor hallway was narrow, and four people blocking the passage like this really caused an inconvenience.
Just as he finished speaking, several people approached from behind.
Finally, the four of them parted ways in the hallway, entering their respective boxes in pairs.
Wen Xu asked, “Do you really hate Guan Sui?”
Wen Song, who was closing the door, lifted his eyelids in bafflement. “Why would you ask that?”
Wen Xu said, “I saw you constantly avoiding his gaze. Come to think of it, it’s really strange. Why on earth would he stare at a Beta like you for no reason?”
Wen Song didn’t answer directly, asking instead, “What about you? Do you hate Duan Ze?”
Wen Xu said, “I don’t hate him.”
He just had a venomous mouth and liked to snap at anyone he saw.
When he truly disliked someone, he would hurl insults without holding back at all.
“I don’t particularly hate Guan Sui either,” Wen Song said.
Wen Xu raised an eyebrow. “I hate him.”
Wen Song was momentarily speechless.
Wen Xu unscrewed a bottle of mineral water. “Grandfather wants me to go on a blind date with him. Arranging this auction wasn’t just to let me broaden my horizons by bringing you along, but also to have me meet Guan Sui, whom I haven’t seen in a long time.”
“He looks quite good, but his personality is terrible.”
“When I date, I certainly don’t like someone who is even more venomous and full of himself than I am. Two people with similar personalities together are just boring.”
At the end, he added, “He’s not as good as Duan Ze.”
On the surface, Duan Ze looked like a playboy, but every time, he would go along with whatever Wen Xu said, and wouldn’t get angry even if Wen Xu deliberately scolded him a couple of times.
It gave people the feeling that even if you slapped him across the face, he would still lick your hand twice.
Wen Song reached a conclusion: “You like Duan Ze.”
Wen Xu retorted defensively, “Who I like is none of your business.”
“You’d better keep a close eye on your own Zhao Mingzhuo.”
In Wen Song’s view, remarks like this were a sign of being flustered out of embarrassment.
It seemed Wen Xu’s personality was just like that; when speaking to people around him, he never held back, specializing in pleasing himself while driving others crazy, with hatred and emotions placed entirely out in the open.
At least he didn’t harbor any deep-seated malice.
During the auction, Wen Song paid constant attention to the proceedings.
In truth, a formal auction like this was rather tedious. Wen Xu found it thoroughly uninteresting, and as he watched, he even started dozing off, propping his chin with one hand against the table and yawning.
“I’m going next door to chat.”
Wen Xu stood up and left after tossing those words out.
Leaving Wen Song all by himself in the spacious private box.
Crouched in the sofa, he looked out the window at the venue below, where crowds were beginning to bid fiercely for a painting.
Suddenly, the door was pushed open once more.
Without turning his head, Wen Song said, “Didn’t you say you were going next door?”
Before the words had completely faded, the scent of the Alpha’s tequila pheromones drifted through the air into his nasal cavity.
The lightly bitten mark on the back of his neck that hadn’t fully healed began to itch.
Wen Song turned his head and saw Guan Sui standing there.
“Why is it you?”
Guan Sui sat down on the opposite sofa, crossing his legs, and answered in a flat tone, “They were being too loud.”
“Came over for some quiet.”
Wen Song was momentarily at a loss for words.
Guan Sui raised his chin. “Are you going to chase me away?”
Wen Song averted his gaze, looking back toward the auction floor.
“Suit yourself.”
Come to think of it, aside from that one-night stand, this was the first time the two of them were sharing a space alone while completely sober.
Even though Wen Song’s gaze remained fixed on the auction hall, a fraction of his attention was constantly allocated to Guan Sui sitting behind him.
The other man was staring right at him.
It was difficult even if he wanted to ignore it.
“You…” Wen Song turned his head and said helplessly, “Can you look somewhere else?”
As soon as he finished speaking, Guan Sui stood up. His height of 1.9 meters gave him a formidable physical advantage, and the Alpha’s aura was intensely overpowering. Taking two steps forward, he stopped right in front of Wen Song, casting a shadow that enveloped his entire person.
The posture between them was deeply ambiguous.
Wen Song looked as though he was being enclosed in the Alpha’s embrace.
He truly hadn’t expected a sober Guan Sui to be this bold.
He was his good buddy’s boyfriend, after all!
Wen Song leaned backward, pressing closely against the sofa backrest without leaving an inch of space.
“What are you trying to do?”
