The auction came to an end.

Wen Xu shoved both hands into his pants pockets and walked back, lifting his chin toward Wen Song with a slightly nonchalant tone. “Let’s go.”

With that, he glanced toward Guan Sui and pursed his lips. “President Guan, our attitudes today were quite clear, so you should understand each other’s stance. When we report back to our families, we can toss the blame and shift the responsibility to one another. For example, we can say my heart belongs to someone else, or that I am not a good Omega.”Full novel: The Top Alpha’s White Moonlight Remains Silent, Kissing the Substitute B to Tears — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Wen Song thought to himself that this was too brutal.

Directly smearing oneself just to make a blind date fail.

Sometimes he really felt that Wen Xu did not seem like an Omega at all, but rather resembled an Alpha.

Guan Sui said calmly, “I did not come to the auction for a blind date.”

Wen Xu nodded nonchalantly. “My thoughts exactly.”

The two of them shared a meeting of the minds.

Both had been forced here by their families.

And now, it was abundantly obvious that they had not taken a liking to each other.

Neither party cared for the other, so no matter how much pressure their families applied, it was all for naught. Besides, Wen Xu was the apple of his family’s eye, and Elder Wen naturally would not truly force him to marry Guan Sui.

Not to mention that if Guan Sui was unwilling, no one could force him into marriage.

Appearing at the auction at the same time was nothing more than going through the motions to avoid disappointing the elders, and coming along just for the experience.

Before leaving, Wen Song politely nodded to Guan Sui as a greeting, then followed closely behind Wen Xu as they left together.

After the auction concluded, everyone exited in an orderly fashion.

Since they were VIPs, they did not need to use the main entrance with everyone else.

“Is it terrifying to be alone with Guan Sui?” Wen Xu asked, walking and glancing sideways at Wen Song beside him.

Wen Song had not expected that Wen Xu, who usually never bothered to speak to him, would actually take the initiative to ask such a meaningless question.

Thinking of Guan Sui’s behavior back in the private room and his fairly gentlemanly attitude of not forcing others, even though a sense of oppression and suffocation existed, it hadn’t reached the point where interacting with him was unbearably unnatural. As long as one didn’t offend him, nothing bad would happen.

It was just that Wen Song felt that, if possible, it was still best not to share the same space with him.

He was still in the consideration phase.

Seeing the man always involuntarily reminded him of what happened that night.

“It is all right,” he replied.

Wen Xu wore a look of utter shock, instantly suspecting he was lying.

Yet, considering that Wen Song had an obedient and honest personality as a Beta and naturally disliked talking much, even if Guan Sui’s tongue was sharp and his Alpha pheromones crushed down, the other person might not even notice.

Wen Xu held a very poor opinion of Guan Sui, opening his mouth to rattle off a stream of criticisms that reduced him to nothingness.

“Guan Sui has a terrible temper, he’s vicious, sharp-tongued, petty, holds grudges, cold-blooded, ruthless, and heartless. If you ever run into him in Suicheng in the future, make sure you turn around and flag down a taxi to run. He never shows any romantic interest in Omegas or Betas; he acts just like he has sexual apathy.”

“And he’s a huge neat freak.”

“The reason I hate him so much is because back when we were in school, the moment I first differentiated into an Omega, my pheromones leaked out a little bit because I couldn’t control them well. It wasn’t my heat period so it wouldn’t affect anyone, but he just wore a dark face and went around spraying pheromone freshener.”

“It’s honestly speechless. It would have dissipated in a minute anyway, but he acted like he’d been contaminated by some filthy thing.”

“He thinks he’s so pure and noble.”

“Just you wait, if he has the ability, he should never get involved with an Omega in his life.”

“Heh! No, wait! He has sexual apathy; he can’t get involved with an Omega anyway.”

Wen Song, who had already gotten involved with Guan Sui, remained silent.

Hearing the words sexual apathy and neat freak spoken by Wen Xu, he suddenly didn’t know whether he should agree or not.

He had no prior sexual experience.

He had no idea if an Alpha’s seven rounds in one night during a rut phase was considered normal.

However, based on the relevant knowledge he acquired online, sexual apathy was definitely not what that looked like.

Besides, Guan Sui wasn’t messing with an Omega; he had messed with a Beta.

Wen Song had no desire to voice his impression of Guan Sui, choosing instead to say sincerely and earnestly, “You hold grudges for a long time too.”

Wen Xu crossed his arms, offered no rebuttal, and let out a cold snort. “Is this your first day knowing me? I am naturally extremely vindictive.”

Having said that, he suddenly came to a halt.

He looked at Wen Song with a bizarre expression.

This made Wen Song feel a hint of inexplicable confusion. He reached out to touch his face and asked quizzically, “Is there something on my face?”

Wen Xu withdrew his gaze and quickened his pace forward.

As he walked, he muttered under his breath, “What a ghost. Why did I say so much to a nuisance?”

Wen Song, the nuisance left behind, stood quietly.

The other’s hot-and-cold attitude left him unsure whether to laugh or cry.

It seemed Wen Xu wasn’t quite as hateful as he had imagined.

Once the auction was over, Wen Song didn’t need to leave alongside Wen Xu.

Seeing the other quickly vanish into the crowd, he decided not to bother chasing after him, pivoted on his heel, and headed toward the northern exit.

Before he had even taken two steps, someone called out from behind him.

“Young Master Wen.”

That surname was not common in Suicheng. Wen Song immediately stopped in his tracks, turned sideways, and saw a Beta wearing a black suit and silver-rimmed glasses nodding at him from two steps away.

The man was holding a long gift box in his hands.

He walked step by step toward where Wen Song stood.

“Hello, is something the matter?” Wen Song asked.

Assistant Jin gave a slight nod and handed the gift box in his hands forward.

“This is what my boss asked me to give to you.”

Wen Song looked down at the long gift box handed to him. The surface featured an intricate and complex pattern, embroidered stitch by stitch, and it was impossible to tell what kind of treasure was hidden inside.

The items inside were bound to be expensive. Instead of taking it, he raised his gaze to look at the Beta radiating elite aura in front of him.

“Who is your boss?”

Keeping Guan Sui’s instructions in mind, Assistant Jin did not answer directly. “Our boss said that once you accept the item, you will know his identity.”

Wen Song wanted to refuse, but seeing through his intention, the other directly shoved the gift box into his arms with a clean, decisive, and straightforward movement.

“I still have matters to attend to, so I will take my leave.”

With that, he offered a polite bow before turning to leave.

Wen Song stood still for a moment.

He looked down at the elongated gift box in his arms.

A vague guess formed in his mind.

This item was likely one of the pieces from the auction, and a glance at the box made it obvious that it was meant for necklaces, accessories, or similar items.

He opened the lid.

As expected.

Quietly resting inside was a pair of gradient-blue double-fish jade pendants.
