If it were not for the system he had accidentally acquired that could restore glands, perhaps these three years would have crushed him long ago. Or perhaps, if not for those three years, Lu Yubai would no longer exist in this world.
His eyes gradually dimmed, losing all their luster.
“Lu Yubai, you are truly insane!”
“In the last century, those abandoned by an Enigma, whether they were Alphas or Omegas, not a single one survived.”

Xu Zhiqiuthe’s voice was hoarse with agitation. However, Lu Yubai acted as if he had not heard a word and remained silent. Xu Zhiqiuthe knew Lu Yubai’s feelings for Yan Chi too well; this was not something he could talk him out of.
His eyes sank slightly. After calming down, he sat back down and spoke in a much gentler tone.
“Without any surprises, last time was your final heat. You must not be impulsive. Do not get involved with Yan Chi again.”
“This way, you only need to take your medicine obediently to alleviate the pain caused by your glandular damage. You are an S3 level Alpha. Even with a damaged gland, you still have many options.”
After speaking, Xu Zhiqiuthe looked at Lu Yubai, hoping for a satisfactory answer.
Lu Yubai unclasped his hands from the table and smiled at him. “You are a good doctor, but I am not a good patient who follows medical advice.”
He did not need better options. He wanted Yan Chi.
Over the last three years, Xu Zhiqiuthe had done everything he could and should have done. Lu Yubai was already very grateful. He stood up on his own and left amidst Xu Zhiqiuthe’s angry roars.
His mood had been poor all day, likely because of the things Yan Chi said yesterday. Consequently, he had lost his temper several times at work. The people at the company suspected he was carrying explosives today, as he was ready to blow up at the slightest touch.
Throughout the day, he did not send a single message to Yan Chi. He was too busy. He did not finish work until half past ten in the evening.
When he headed downstairs, Lin Ye was already waiting for him. He was dressed casually in a black windbreaker and straight-leg pants, wearing a baseball cap with a black mask over it. Lin Ye had wrapped himself up so tightly that someone might mistake him for an artist involved in an underground romance.
Seeing Lu Yubai come down, Lin Ye jogged over to massage his shoulders and back.
“Hard work, hard work. In a while, I will let you feel really good!” Beneath the mask, a wicked smile curled on Lin Ye’s lips.
Even without looking, Lu Yubai could guess Lin Ye’s mischievous expression. He rolled his eyes at Lin Ye and punched him in the shoulder.
“Do not talk nonsense, or I will finish you!” Lu Yubai used his full strength for that punch.
Lin Ye howled in pain twice before opening the passenger door for Lu Yubai, making a flamboyant gesture of invitation. “Master Lu, please.”
Lu Yubai smiled helplessly.
Half an hour later, inside a room.
Lin Ye looked smug, his voice full of pride. “Just say it, does it feel good?”
“It feels good! It really feels good! This makes things so much more comfortable!” Lu Yubai praised him with great satisfaction.
Lin Ye replied, “I told you so, but you did not believe me! With this kind of service, I think ten thousand a night would be worth it!”
Lu Yubai added, “Absolutely, it is worth it!”
The sounds of their groans echoed through the room one after another.
Suddenly, the door was pushed open. An angry voice came from the doorway. “Lu Yubai!”
Having his name called, Lu Yubai, who had been half-awake, snapped to full attention. He sat up abruptly on the bed. Nearby, Lin Ye hurriedly used a bath towel to cover his body.
Lin Ye cursed frantically, “Are you a pervert?!”
Steam rose in the room. Through the mist, Lu Yubai saw the face of the intruder. It was Yan Chi!
“Yan Chi? Why are you here?” Surprise flickered in Lu Yubai’s eyes.
Yan Chi’s cold gaze swept the surroundings before landing on the red palms of the two massage therapists.
Yan Chi was speechless. It was eleven o’clock, and Lu Yubai was out getting a back scrub with someone else?
Lu Yubai pointed to an empty spot nearby and asked awkwardly, “Um, do you want to add a spot for yourself?”
Yan Chi remained silent. The air froze for several seconds. Lu Yubai realized he had spoken too much. How could Yan Chi possibly take off his clothes and lie here to get a back scrub with him? He could not even imagine the scene, let alone Yan Chi’s expression.
“Thank you, no,” Yan Chi said coldly.
After speaking, he realized his behavior was improper, turned around, and left the room. Lu Yubai immediately wrapped himself in a towel and scrambled out to chase him.
He was in such a hurry, and with water on the floor, his feet slipped just as he reached the door. Seeing himself about to fall, Lu Yubai’s heart went cold. He instinctively closed his eyes. It was going to hurt.
Suddenly, a pair of strong, powerful hands tightly gripped his waist. A faint scent of cedarwood hit him. He slowly opened his eyes.
It was Yan Chi.
Lu Yubai’s eyes were misty with water. Under the shock, ripples appeared in his gaze. Blushing, he stepped out of Yan Chi’s embrace and asked softly, “Why are you here?”
Yan Chi’s eyes flickered as he answered without thinking, “Grandfather said he is not feeling well.”
Lu Yubai was startled, his expression turning tense. “What is wrong? Why is he suddenly unwell? Is it serious? What did the doctor say?”
“It is not serious. He probably just misses you and made it up,” Yan Chi said calmly.
Lu Yubai finally breathed a sigh of relief and wiped the sweat from his forehead. “Then I will change my clothes and go to the hospital with you to see Grandfather.” After saying that, Lu Yubai hurried toward the dressing room.
After Lu Yubai left, Lin Ye put on a bathrobe and looked Yan Chi up and down with a suspicious gaze.
“You are that Enigma?” He raised an eyebrow, his pupils shrinking as he scrutinized Yan Chi, with a hint of displeasure hidden in his eyes.
Yan Chi gave him a contemptuous glance. A cold light shone in his deep eyes. When his gaze fell on Lin Ye’s shoulder, Lin Ye felt a chill run down his spine.
Enigma was too terrifying!
He did not know what Lu Yubai saw in this ice-faced man. This was pure masochism! He was already starting to feel sorry for Lu Yubai.
Yan Chi’s voice was frigid. “And you are?”
“Lu Yubai’s friend,” Lin Ye said plainly, hands on his hips.
Yan Chi nodded composedly. “Oh. I have never seen you.”
Lin Ye was stunned.
Lu Yubai finished changing his clothes and walked over while stretching his limbs. “Let us go,” he said.
Yan Chi withdrew his gaze and headed downstairs first. Lu Yubai stood there looking at Lin Ye, who ran over and put an arm around his shoulder.
“Lu Yubai, this Yan Chi is not like how you described him.”
“Has he been possessed?”
“What do you like about him?”
“I will give you an MBTI test tomorrow. I feel like you have some masochistic tendencies.”
Lu Yubai kicked him in annoyance. “I am normal!”
“He is very good. There is nothing wrong with my emotional needs!”
Kicked once, Lin Ye pouted and stubbornly advised, “I am your psychiatrist. Do not distrust me.”
“Your previous illness was never cured. You were the one who insisted Yan Chi was your medicine and insisted on returning to the country. Otherwise, I would never have let you go!”
