“You planned to cheat on me from the start, didn’t you?” Xi Leyao stirred the tomato and egg noodles in front of him, his voice calm.
He had remembered that phone call from last night all along.
The original owner of this body had indeed been like that, but she wasn’t.
Song Jinhe replied righteously, “Fine, I won’t cheat on you then.”
“We’ll get divorced anyway.”
Xi Leyao put down his chopsticks, stood up, and grabbed her wrist. His dark eyes were filled with coldness.
“You plan to divorce me?”
Song Jinhe tried to pull her hand back, but his grip was too strong. Helpless, she looked at Xi Leyao and said with unusual calmness, “That’s the plan.”
As soon as she said this, Xi Leyao released her hand, sat back down, and fell completely silent.
His handsome face showed confusion and helplessness, as if he couldn’t understand why Song Jinhe still wanted to divorce him even after he had tried so hard.
Just then, Song Jinhe lashed out at him, “It’s your fault for being useless. If you were capable at all, I wouldn’t even think about divorcing you.”
After hearing this, Xi Leyao stared straight at her and asked seriously, “As long as I’m capable, you won’t divorce me?”
“Exactly. You used to be quite promising,” Song Jinhe nodded.
“Alright.” Xi Leyao quietly took note of this.
After breakfast, Song Jinhe was about to wash the dishes when the man snatched them away. “I’ll wash them. Go put on some sunscreen so you don’t get sunburned.”
After washing the dishes, he rummaged through the wardrobe for the sun-protective clothing he had bought earlier.
Downstairs, Song Jinhe sat on the back of the electric scooter as Xi Leyao started accepting delivery orders.
Mornings were peak hours, and the roads were packed with vehicles.
Cars and electric scooters crowded the streets. Looking at this scene, Song Jinhe sighed inwardly.
So many people.
Xi Leyao went to pick up the orders while Song Jinhe waited on the scooter.
After accompanying him on a few deliveries, Song Jinhe quickly lost interest. She got off at a shopping mall and said to him, “You go deliver on your own. I’ll stroll around the mall.”
Hearing this, Xi Leyao glanced at her, took out a tissue, and wiped the sweat from her face. “Feeling hot?”
“I told you to stay at home, but you insisted on coming out,” Xi Leyao said with some dissatisfaction.
Song Jinhe let him wipe the sweat off her face and retorted, “Mind your own business. Go earn your money.”
Xi Leyao tossed the tissue into the trash, took out his phone, opened WeChat, and transferred two thousand yuan to Song Jinhe.
“Take this money and treat yourself to a good meal.”
“Let me know when you get home.”
Song Jinhe nodded. After he left, she wandered around the mall.
She tried on clothes in a boutique, bought some anime badge blind boxes, and found a well-reviewed restaurant to eat at.
Jing City was vast, yet somehow small. While waiting for her food, Song Jinhe saw Jiang Yuan’s fiancé, Fu Jingchuan, enter the restaurant with a young woman.
Song Jinhe had never seen the woman before, but she was holding Fu Jingchuan’s arm with a smile on her face.
Even Fu Jingchuan was smiling, clearly very happy.
He was especially doting toward the woman, carrying three or four paper bags in his other hand, each printed with brand logos.
“Damn, cheating even before getting married,” Song Jinhe muttered to herself, utterly shocked by the scene.
She quickly took out her phone, found Jiang Yuan’s WeChat, and immediately made a video call.
It rang for a long time before the other party answered.
Jiang Yuan was lying on the large sofa in the villa’s living room, watching a movie with desserts placed nearby and a facial mask on her face, looking utterly lazy.
“What are you video-calling me for? I don’t recall our relationship being good enough to casually video chat,” Jiang Yuan said through the phone screen, her tone far from pleasant.
Seeing her former rival reduced to this state, Jiang Yuan felt deeply unsettled.
In the past, she would compete with Song Jinhe over everything—outfits, makeup, skills, grades—anything and everything.
She had often won against Song Jinhe in these comparisons, and even after years, they had never settled the score.
But then, the man Song Jinhe married went bankrupt, and Jiang Yuan won by default. Yet, she felt no satisfaction, only frustration.
Seeing Song Jinhe now wearing cheap and unattractive clothes only added to her irritation.
“Miss Jiang, does that person look like your fiancé?” Song Jinhe didn’t respond directly but simply flipped the camera to focus on a nearby table.
Jiang Yuan stared at the screen, her gaze fixed on the face, her hand clenching into a fist.
“Address.”
Song Jinhe gave her the address, then asked with a smile, “Miss Jiang, your taste in men really isn’t great, is it?”
“At least the one I chose hasn’t gone bankrupt yet,” Jiang Yuan shot back sarcastically.
“But my man won’t cheat on me,” Song Jinhe retorted. “Bankruptcy can be overcome, but a lack of character is a real problem.”
“Look, he’s already engaged, yet he’s still entangled with another woman, unclear and inappropriate.”
As soon as Song Jinhe finished speaking, the woman leaned in and kissed Fu Jingchuan on the lips.
Seeing this, Song Jinhe acted quickly and took a screenshot.
The image of the two kissing was captured.
“Tsk, tsk, tsk,” Song Jinhe said nothing, only clicking her tongue repeatedly.
Listening to the sound, Jiang Yuan felt an overwhelming urge to tear Fu Jingchuan apart.
How dare he embarrass her like this in front of her rival? This engagement had to be called off. If she didn’t strip the Fu family of a layer of skin, she wouldn’t be a Jiang.
“When it comes to choosing men, we’re tied,” Jiang Yuan said.
But Song Jinhe disagreed. “Miss Jiang, what are you thinking? We’re not tied at all. I win this round.”
“My man may be bankrupt, but he knows how to make money, won’t cheat casually, and takes care of me every day. But the man you chose lacks morals.”
“Hmph—” Jiang Yuan sneered coldly.
Jiang Yuan soon arrived at the restaurant, with a waiter following closely to attend to her.
Looking left and right, she spotted Fu Jingchuan among the many tables.
Today, he wasn’t wearing his usual black tailored suit. Instead, he was dressed in matching couple’s outfits with the girl—a white shirt paired with jeans, with a few stray strands of hair falling over his forehead, giving him the look of a pure-hearted college boy.
The girl sitting beside him wore a long white dress, with a Van Cleef & Arpels bracelet on her wrist.
The red bracelet accentuated the girl’s fair skin, and her hair was tied up with a hairband, making her appear innocent and charming.
Seeing that Jiang Yuan had arrived, Song Jinhe stood up and walked over.
“Miss Jiang, you’re really late, the food is almost cold.” Song Jinhe’s voice was somewhat loud, and everyone dining nearby heard it.
As she passed by Fu Jingchuan’s table, she pretended to glance over, then exclaimed in shock, “Fu Jingchuan, what are you doing here?”
Her gaze then fell on the woman beside him: “Who is she? Aren’t you engaged to Jiang Yuan?”
