Ji Zhi listened to Xi Leyao’s words, her lips pressed tightly together.

Her dark gaze fell on the two of them, lingering on Song Jinhe’s face for a long while before she finally spoke. “You’re only acting this way toward Mr. Xi because you’re relying on your good looks.”

“Song Jinhe, you’re nothing but a gold-digging, snobbish woman. You don’t deserve Mr. Xi at all.”Full novel: The Villainess is Acting Up Again? The Bankrupt Tycoon Dotes on Her — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

For a man like Xi Leyao—handsome and full of potential—Song Jinhe not only failed to treat him well but even hurled insults at him. She would surely regret it one day.

“Because of you, Mr. Xi works so hard delivering takeout every day, and when he comes home, he still has to serve you.” Ji Zhi thought of the information she had heard from others last time, her eyes filled with disdain and disgust. “You have hands and feet of your own, yet you still make others serve you. Do you really think you’re some kind of young lady?”

“You’re just a fake.”

Listening to her words, Song Jinhe slowly raised a big question mark on her face.

The female lead knew her name, her background, and even the situation at home.

Moreover, this female lead’s personality was nothing like that of a sunny, cheerful heroine. She was aggressive, and her words were particularly irritating.

“System, be honest with me. Is this female lead a reincarnator or someone who has awakened?” Song Jinhe looked at the other woman and asked the System in her mind.

[Reincarnator…]

So she was a reincarnator. No wonder she knew about her affairs.

She must have known that Xi Leyao would eventually return to his peak in the future. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have come here trying to encourage him.

Song Jinhe looked at her and sneered, imitating the original host’s manner as she swept a disdainful gaze over Ji Zhi.

Then, she cleared her throat and reminded her, “He and I are legally married.”

“What exactly are you trying to say with all this?”

Ji Zhi raised her chin, speaking with righteous indignation. “Of course, I want Mr. Xi to escape your clutches.”

Song Jinhe nodded after hearing this, then reached out and grabbed Xi Leyao’s collar, pulling him close to her before asking with a smile, “Do you think the same way she does?”

Xi Leyao didn’t know why this crazy woman kept pestering him, but seeing Song Jinhe’s smile that didn’t reach her eyes, his heart tightened.

She must have misunderstood. Xi Leyao hurriedly explained, “I’m more than happy to serve you and be at your beck and call. Don’t listen to her nonsense.”

After saying this, he glanced at Ji Zhi in the distance, his face showing a look of disgust.

“Get lost—” His voice, filled with disgust, rang out. That cold and contemptuous “get lost” instantly made Ji Zhi’s face turn extremely ugly.

She never expected Xi Leyao to be so ungrateful, preferring to be ordered around by Song Jinhe rather than getting a divorce. In the end, Ji Zhi could only ride away on her electric scooter, seething with resentment.

Once she was gone, Song Jinhe looked at him and continued asking, “What exactly is going on between you and that woman?”

Xi Leyao felt utterly wronged. That woman had been pestering him ever since that day.

“I’m innocent too,” Xi Leyao said as he drove the tricycle toward the rental house, his tone tinged with a hint of grievance.

“She’s just a lunatic,” Xi Leyao remarked.

Once she latched onto someone, she refused to let go. If that wasn’t madness, what was?

By the time they returned to the rental house, it was already eight in the evening. Xi Leyao washed all the pots, pans, and dishes before finally sitting down to rest.

But even after sitting down, Xi Leyao still didn’t idle around. He opened WeChat and started calculating the accounts.

After finishing the calculations, Xi Leyao raised his eyebrows—it seemed quite profitable.

After deducting labor costs, ingredient expenses, and utility bills, Xi Leyao netted fifteen hundred yuan.

He dug out a notebook and began keeping records.

Song Jinhe walked out of the bathroom after showering, using a hair towel to dry her hair. She saw Xi Leyao leaning on the sofa with his eyes closed, as if he had fallen asleep.

Moving closer, she noticed large dark circles under his eyes, clearly the result of not getting proper rest.

The two of them had fooled around until three in the morning the previous night, and Xi Leyao had left home at eight in the morning.

He had spent most of the day delivering takeout, returned home to cook, and then went out to set up a stall.

He had only slept a few hours in total—it was clear he was truly exhausted.

Song Jinhe sat beside him, quietly drying her damp hair without using a hairdryer.

It wasn’t until midnight that she reached out to nudge him awake. “Wake up.”

“It’s time to take a shower.” Song Jinhe’s voice involuntarily softened.

Roused from sleep, Xi Leyao rubbed his eyes, sat on the sofa in a daze for a moment, and then asked, “Are you hungry?”

“I’ll make you a midnight snack.” As he spoke, Xi Leyao stood up and headed toward the kitchen.

Song Jinhe stopped watching her video and looked up at his retreating figure, momentarily at a loss for words.

The two of them had eaten while running the stall, with customers coming and going intermittently, so their meal had been fragmented.

She hadn’t expected Xi Leyao to worry about her going hungry, thinking of making her a midnight snack as soon as he woke up.

“Xi Leyao, I’m not hungry.” Seeing him open the refrigerator and take out noodles and eggs, she quickly called out.

“You don’t need to make me a midnight snack!”

Xi Leyao heard her, but his hands didn’t stop moving. He simply looked at her and said, “I’m hungry.”

The egg noodles were ready in no time. Even though Song Jinhe had clearly stated she wasn’t hungry, Xi Leyao still prepared a small bowl for her.

It was filled with plenty of eggs and smelled delicious.

After finishing everything, Xi Leyao walked over, crouched in front of her, and took her hand. “Have a little. Even if you’re not hungry now, you might get hungry in the middle of the night.”

Seeing him like this, Song Jinhe nodded. “Alright.”

The two of them sat at the dining table, silently eating noodles with their heads down. No one spoke, and the room fell quiet.

“Xi Leyao, do you think I’m materialistic?” Song Jinhe asked after finishing her noodles, putting down her chopsticks and wiping her mouth.

“Even though you have nothing right now, I still make you buy such expensive things, keeping you busy every day.”

Busy earning money, busy taking care of her.

In the wardrobe hung the four-thousand-yuan Lolita dress. From the moment she received it until now, Song Jinhe hadn’t worn it once.

The dress was beautiful, with red and black lace, but it wasn’t a strapless style—it had long sleeves.

Hearing her question, Xi Leyao lifted his eyelids and glanced at her, asking calmly, “What have you taken a liking to this time?”

Song Jinhe, who had been asking sincerely, was taken aback by his response. Since he asked like that, she decided not to hold back.

“I need a pair of Mary Janes,” she said.

“And black stockings to match the dress. You didn’t buy the accessories when you bought the dress.”

So it was a pair of shoes she needed. Xi Leyao nodded. “Alright, I’ll buy them for you when I can.”

Seeing him agree once more, Song Jinhe furrowed her brows. “Tell me honestly, do you really not hold any resentment at all?”

“Are you truly not thinking of suicide?”

Xi Leyao took a sip of soup and, upon hearing her mention the word “suicide,” let out a light scoff.

“Song Jinhe, I can handle this level of setback.”

Betrayal, bankruptcy—these were merely minor setbacks to him.
