“Are you Juno?”
The man lowered his head slightly, examining the girl whose smudged makeup made her look like a messy little cat.
His amber eyes were like colored glass—crystal clear, yet carrying a detached and aloof chill.
The familiar feeling in Juno’s heart grew stronger and stronger.
Juno stared into those eyes and frowned slightly.
An inexplicable sense of irritation welled up from the bottom of her heart for no apparent reason.
Out of politeness, she nodded, then took a step back to widen the distance between them.
The corners of the man’s lips curled up slightly, and a trace of warmth finally seeped into his cold eyes.
“Juno, welcome home.”
His voice was deep and indolent.
The dim, yellow light of the restroom fell softly on his incredibly handsome face, making him look as perfect as an otherworldly statue.
Juno had never been the type of person to be swayed by beauty.
Even someone as handsome as Stephen Grant, whose looks could rival Narcissus, left her completely unfazed.
She could look at Stephen without a ripple of emotion and could even pick up a scalpel to castrate him without a moment’s hesitation.
But the man standing before her made Juno freeze in place for quite a while.
“Are you…
the child the Jacobs Family brought back from the orphanage?” she asked.
By all accounts, a man whose looks were countless Levels above Stephen Grant’s should at least be an important character, right?
The author wouldn’t have completely neglected to describe someone like him!
It was as if this man had popped out of thin air.
The System was speechless.
It wondered if The Great Demon King was being a bit too reckless.
Asking someone a question like that right after meeting them killed the conversation completely!
How embarrassing for him!
However, the man didn’t show any sign of the embarrassment the System had anticipated.
He merely curled his lips into a gentle smile.
“Yes, I am Jayden Jacobs.”
Juno’s gaze swept over his eyebrows, his eyes, his nose, and his lips…
Finally, her eyes landed on the slightly red tip of his ear.
“Why is there a notch in your ear?” she asked.
Jayden paused, seemingly surprised that anyone would notice such an inconspicuous little flaw.
He had been in the Jacobs Family for nearly ten years, yet Mr.
and Mrs.
Jacobs had never once asked about it.
He had almost forgotten that there was a notch on the tip of his ear.
Rubbing the spot gently with his index finger, Jayden’s eyes darkened.
“Maybe it was bitten off by some mischievous little creature.”
His gaze and his smile carried an inexplicable and profoundly meaningful sense of indulgence.
“Oh.” Juno nodded, feeling increasingly puzzled as to why she even cared about the small notch on his ear in the first place.
Whether it was scratched by a cat or bitten by a dog, what did it have to do with her?
She vigorously wiped her face with a paper towel and prepared to leave.
Just as she was about to turn around, someone grabbed her wrist.
While she was still in shock, Jayden leaned down and used a makeup remover wipe—which he had specially brought over—to gently wipe her smudged, cat-like face.
They were so close that with every breath, Juno could smell the crisp, refreshing scent of the man, mixed with a faint hint of tobacco.
She saw his long eyelashes resting like two small fans, half-concealing his amber eyes.
Seeming to sense her gaze, his eyelashes fluttered as he opened his eyes, and his crystal-clear amber pupils met hers.
Juno instantly lowered her head, suddenly feeling her heart race!
The sensation of his slightly rough fingertips rubbing against her cheek became even more distinct.
She heard the loud THUMP THUMP THUMP of her own heartbeat!
This feeling left her entirely at a loss.
She clearly harbored some inexplicable hostility toward him, yet she was pathetically blushing and experiencing a racing heart?!
Juno pushed the man away and fled the scene!
She left in such a hurry that she didn’t realize if she had just looked back, she would have seen a very different expression on the man’s face from his previous polite yet detached smile.
It was a smile that was already thoroughly steeped in tenderness.
