The damp pre-dawn chill of the Whispering Woods clung to Kaelen Ashford’s wool cloak like a wet blanket as he moved through the dense underbrush.

Beside him, Nox glided silently over moss-covered roots and fallen timber. To the untrained eye, the small black creature looked like nothing more than an unusually quiet stray cat. But under Kaelen’s Erased Beast Tamer perception, Nox’s form rippled with dense, latent spatial mana—a dark predator holding back a tide of primordial energy.

In Kaelen’s System panel, the countdown to Nox’s evolution burned like golden fire in his mind:Full novel: The Weakest Summoner Commands Extinct Monsters — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

[EXTINCTION POINTS: 1,150 / 2,000 EP] [EVOLUTION PATH SELECTED: PATH C — ANCESTRAL PRIMAL VOID-STALKER] [EP REQUIRED TO TRIGGER EVOLUTION: 850 EP]

"Eight hundred and fifty points," Kaelen whispered, adjusting the leather straps of his hunting pack. "We need high-grade targets, Nox. Standard Iron-grade beasts won't cut it anymore."

Nox stopped, its ears flicking toward the dark ravine that sliced through the western boundary of the woods—a treacherous rift known among Oakhaven hunters as the Gloom Ridge. Common mercenaries avoided Gloom Ridge because of its erratic mana surges and steep, fog-shrouded cliffs. But to Kaelen, erratic mana meant ancient remnants.

Nox let out a low, rumbling throat-purr, its twin eyes glowing with molten gold as its tail flicked toward the ravine.

Danger ahead, the mental link echoed softly in Kaelen’s mind through Primitive Mental Mesh. Many scents. Bone and shadows.

"Lead the way," Kaelen said softly, unsheathing Old Bram’s reinforced hunting knife.

They descended into Gloom Ridge. The canopy above grew so thick that dawn was completely blocked out, leaving the ravine in a realm of perpetual twilight. Black, jagged limestone rocks protruded from the muddy slopes like broken teeth, and the air smelled heavily of sulfur, wet iron, and decay.

As they neared the bottom of the ravine, Nox’s fur bristled. The small black creature flattened itself against a carpet of dark moss, its golden eyes fixed on the entrance of a massive cavern embedded in the limestone cliff.

[WARNING: DENSE MONSTER PRESENCE DETECTED] [SPECIES IDENTIFIED: GLOOM-SPINED SHADOW-PANTHERS (PACK)] [ALPHA TARGET: IRON-CLAW SHADOW-STALKER (CR 220)] [PACK SIZE: 6 UNITS (CR 120 - 150 EACH)]

Kaelen crouched behind a boulder, inspecting the pack. Six sleek, quadrupedal panthers with jet-black fur and rows of bone spikes along their spines lounged around the cavern mouth. At the center lay the Alpha—a massive beast the size of an ox, its claws glinting like polished dark steel.

"A full pack led by a CR 220 Alpha," Kaelen muttered, his eyes narrowing. "If a standard Silver-tier party encountered them in a tight ravine, it would be a bloodbath."

Then, a secondary notification flared across Kaelen’s vision, pulsing in brilliant crimson:

[ANCIENT ARCHIVE DETECTS PRIMORDIAL FOSSIL BED INSIDE CAVERN] [ABSORPTION POTENTIAL: HIGH] [ESTIMATED EP GAIN FROM PACK DEFEAT & DENS ABSORPTION: +950 EP]

Kaelen’s heart thundered against his ribs. +950 EP! That was more than enough to cross the 2,000 EP threshold and trigger Nox's first true evolution.

"We take them out systematically," Kaelen communicated through the mental link, laying out the tactical formation. "Nox, use Void Shroud I and target the two sentries on the outer flank first. I'll draw the Alpha's attention with throwable iron spikes once the perimeter is cleared."

Nox blinked its golden eyes once—an unspoken agreement.

In an instant, Nox vanished into thin air.

Void Shroud I completely erased Nox's physical outline, scent, and mana signature. Not even the sharp ears of the Shadow-Panthers twitched as the invisible predator slipped through the shadows behind the first sentry.

CRACK!

A sharp, sickening snap echoed through the ravine as Nox materialized directly above the first sentry’s head. Its claws, empowered by Void-Claw, sheared through the panther’s thick skull like wet parchment before the beast could even let out a growl.

Before the corpse hit the ground, Nox activated Void-Step I, teleporting three yards through a spatial fold to appear beneath the jaw of the second sentry.

SLASH!

A flash of violet spatial light severed the second panther's throat. Blood spattered across the limestone rocks as the beast collapsed, flailing silently.

[TARGET DEFEATED: GLOOM-SPINED SHADOW-PANTHER (CR 130)] [EXTINCTION POINTS ACQUIRED: +45 EP] [TARGET DEFEATED: GLOOM-SPINED SHADOW-PANTHER (CR 125)] [EXTINCTION POINTS ACQUIRED: +40 EP]

"ROAAAR!"

The Alpha Iron-Claw Shadow-Stalker leaped to its feet, its bone spikes erecting in fury as it noticed two of its pack members dead in seconds. The remaining three panthers growled, their red eyes scanning the mist frantically.

"Over here, ugly!" Kaelen shouted, stepping out from behind the boulder and hurling a heavy iron piton directly at the Alpha’s face.

The iron spike struck the Alpha's shoulder plate, sparking against its dense hide. The Alpha roared in rage, abandoning caution and charging straight at Kaelen, its huge steel-like claws extended to crush the human intruder.

"Now, Nox! Primal Command!" Kaelen roared, channeling his class talent.

A surge of invisible ancient authority radiated from Kaelen, boosting Nox's attributes by 15% while briefly disorienting the charging panthers with the lingering aura of a long-extinct apex predator.

The three smaller panthers froze for a fraction of a second, their instincts screaming that a monster far grander than their Alpha was present.

That split second was all Nox needed.

Nox blurred into a streak of black lightning. Utilizing Agility Boost I combined with Void-Step I, Nox flickered through reality, cutting down the three disoriented panthers in a whirlwind of spatial slashes.

[TARGET DEFEATED x3: GLOOM-SPINED SHADOW-PANTHER] [EXTINCTION POINTS ACQUIRED: +135 EP]

Now, only the massive Alpha remained.

Realizing its entire pack had been slaughtered in less than twenty seconds, the Alpha Shadow-Stalker hissed, its tail whipping as it turned its full fury toward Nox. It swung a massive, steel-hard claw down with enough force to shatter solid granite.

"Nox, left flank! Void-Step!" Kaelen commanded mentally.

Nox folded through space, vanishing a millisecond before the Alpha’s claw smashed into the earth, sending stone splinters flying. Reappearing directly above the Alpha's exposed spine, Nox unleashed the full output of Void-Claw.

Twin crescent blades of pitch-black spatial energy slashed across the Alpha’s armored neck, cutting deep through scale, hide, and vertebrae.

The massive beast let out a choking roar, shuddered violently, and collapsed into the dirt, its dark blood pooling across the cavern threshold.

[TARGET DEFEATED: ALPHA IRON-CLAW SHADOW-STALKER (CR 220)] [EXTINCTION POINTS ACQUIRED: +180 EP]

Kaelen exhaled a long breath, stepping over the fallen Alpha. His palms were slick with sweat, but his eyes burned with excitement.

"Amazing job, Nox," Kaelen said, kneeling down to pat the little creature's head. Nox purred softly, rubbing its bloody muzzle against Kaelen's sleeve before turning its attention toward the cavern interior.

Inside the dark cave, embedded deep within the ancient subterranean rock wall, was a massive wall of petrified black bones—the fossilized ribcage of an ancient primordial leviathan that had died millions of years ago.

Nox walked up to the fossilized bones, placed its tiny paw against the rock, and activated Void Absorption.

HUMMMMMM—!

A blinding wave of dark violet energy erupted from the fossil bed. Dense streams of petrified primal essence flowed out of the ancient bones, swirling around Nox like a vortex of liquid dark starlight. The system prompts flooded Kaelen’s vision in rapid succession:

[VOID ABSORPTION IN PROGRESS...] [PRIMORDIAL GENETIC ESSENCE EXTRACTED FROM: ANCIENT ABYSSAL LEVIATHAN (RESTS)] [EXTINCTION POINTS ACQUIRED: +500 EP!]

[CURRENT EXTINCTION POINTS BALANCE: 2,050 EP!] [EVOLUTION REQUIREMENT MET!] [EVOLUTION PATH AVAILABLE: PATH C — ANCESTRAL PRIMAL VOID-STALKER]

Kaelen’s breathing hitched. "Two thousand and fifty points... We did it!"

Without hesitation, Kaelen tapped the translucent golden panel.

[INITIATING EVOLUTION PROCESS...] [SELECTED PATH: PATH C (TRUE ANCESTRAL BLOODLINE RESTORATION)] [CONSUMING 2,000 EXTINCTION POINTS...] [SUBJECT: NOX (VOID-STALKER)] [WARNING: HIGH PRIMAL MANA DENSITY DETECTED. SEALING SURROUNDING SPACE.]

Instantly, the air inside the cavern turned ice-cold.

A sphere of pitch-black spatial miasma erupted from Nox’s body, expanding until it formed a dense, crackling cocoon of void energy ten feet in diameter. Inside the cocoon, twin eyes of blazing solar gold glowed with terrifying intensity.

The cavern shook. Deep within the bedrock, ancient runes carved into the fabric of reality by the Architects centuries ago flared in panic, attempting to suppress the illegal anomaly. But Kaelen's Erased Beast Tamer authority acted as an absolute shield, blocking the System's interference and allowing the primordial evolution to proceed unimpeded.

CRACK... CRACKLE!

Inside the void cocoon, Nox’s skeletal structure broke, reformed, and expanded at an impossible speed. The tiny cat-like form stretched into a magnificent, lethal apex hunter. Smooth obsidian scales began to grow beneath thick, velvet-black fur; four long, razor-sharp void-blades sprouted along its spine; and its long tail split at the tip into twin whip-like spatial scythes.

A ancient, reverberating roar—a sound that hadn't echoed in the mortal realm for ten thousand years—shattered the silence of Gloom Ridge.

ROAAAAAAAR!

The void cocoon shattered into ten thousand sparkling fragments of dark mana, dissolving into the air.

Stepping out from the swirling mist was Nox’s new form.

It was no longer a tiny kitten.

Nox now stood four feet tall at the shoulder, its sleek body seven feet long from snout to tail tip. Its body was a masterpiece of lethal elegance—covered in midnight fur that absorbed all light, lined with rows of dark obsidian scales along its spine and chest. Its four paws were tipped with void-infused claws that left hairline fractures in reality with every step it took. And atop its head, two small, backward-curving horns of polished dark crystal shimmered with golden light.

When it opened its eyes, twin pools of burning molten gold looked up at Kaelen with deep, unshakeable loyalty.

[NEW PASSIVE UNLOCKED: PRIMAL SOVEREIGN'S AURA (STAGE I)]

Low-tier dragonoid and elemental beasts below CR 300 will suffer a 20% attribute penalty due to ancient bloodline suppression.

Nox took a step forward, lowering its large, majestic head and resting its warm snout against Kaelen’s chest. A deep, thunderous purr vibrated through Kaelen’s entire body—a purr that carried enough latent power to shake the cavern walls.

Kaelen wrapped his arms around the magnificent creature's neck, feeling the smooth scales and silky fur beneath his fingers. Tears of fierce, quiet pride welled in his eyes.

"Look at you, buddy," Kaelen whispered, his voice trembling slightly. "You're beautiful."

Nox nudged Kaelen gently, its tail swaying as its golden eyes gleamed with intelligence and warmth.

Kaelen stood up, looking out from the mouth of the cavern toward the distant, shimmering spires of Oakhaven's High Precinct, rising above the fog.

In the eyes of the Kingdom of Solis, Kaelen Ashford was still a trash-tier Failed Summoner with a CR 1 pest. Valerius Vance was still the golden genius with his CR 380 Flame Drake.

They had no idea that in the dark depths of Gloom Ridge, a eighteen-year-old dock worker was now standing beside a Primal Calamity beast with a True Combat Rating of 650—a beast whose ancestors had hunted dragons for breakfast.

Kaelen smiled—a cold, sharp, unyielding smile.

"Come on, Nox," Kaelen said, stepping out into the morning mist. "Let's go home. We have a kingdom to rewrite."
