“Qiaoqiao, I’m only going to see the patient this afternoon. I’ll go to the flower shop with you.”

The next morning, Yan Yu dropped the twins off at the daycare center in their residential community so they could play with children their own age. After that, she accompanied Qiao Zi to run the flower shop.

Qiao Zi’s flower shop had excellent business, making the nearby flower shop owners more than a little envious.Full novel: The Wealthiest Tycoon Was Supposedly Childless, Yet I Was Pregnant with His Twins — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

However, after seeing that Qiao Zi had a brother who stood over six feet three inches tall, a sister-in-law who was nearly five feet nine inches, and two nephews who had already reached nearly five feet seven inches at only twelve or thirteen years old, none of her competitors dared cause her any trouble.

“Little Yu, if you hadn’t told me, I never would’ve guessed that Jing Mocong was that kind of man. He’s young, handsome, and rich. Why would he have such a… preference?”

Inside the flower shop, Qiao Zi grumbled as she wrapped a bouquet.

She had once taken pride in the fact that the wealthiest men in most cities were middle-aged or elderly, while Shengjing’s richest man was a young and incredibly handsome bachelor.

Who would have thought he was actually a handsome man with questionable morals?

What a waste of that face.

“I didn’t expect it either… Jing Mocong really doesn’t look like that on the surface.”

“What a pity. I wonder what’ll happen to him in the future. Maybe some scandal will break out and the whole of Shengjing will laugh at him.”

As Qiao Zi continued muttering to herself, a freshly wrapped bouquet beside her was suddenly picked up by a delicate hand adorned with an exquisite manicure before being thrown heavily onto the floor.

With a loud smack, the bouquet hit the ground.

A pink high heel immediately stomped down on it.

Yan Yu and Qiao Zi both stopped what they were doing and looked up at the owner of the shoe.

Standing before them was a woman dressed in an elegant designer outfit. Her features were refined, her bearing noble, and she looked at them with utter disdain.

“Enough. Don’t you dare discuss my fiancé again.”

“What right do commoners like you have to criticize Brother Jing?”

“If I ever hear either of you speaking ill of Brother Jing again, I’ll smash this entire shop.”

“What trash. You’re unbelievably uncivilized. I don’t even want these flowers anymore!”

“Remember what I said!”

After delivering her warning, the woman clicked away on her high heels, left the flower shop, and got into the sports car parked by the roadside before driving off.

Yan Yu stared blankly after her.

Only after snapping back to her senses did she shrink her neck and sigh.

“Qiaoqiao, we’d better stop talking behind people’s backs in the future. Getting caught red-handed like that was so embarrassing.”

“I agree. I was so scared I almost peed myself. I never imagined the richest man’s fiancée would come to my tiny flower shop to buy flowers.” Qiao Zi took a deep breath. Whenever she got too nervous, she always felt the urge to use the restroom.

Yan Yu laughed.

“That just proves your flower shop is attractive. I’ve noticed your flowers are cared for exceptionally well. Even after sitting overnight, the petals are still fresh when you open the shop the next day. They don’t show the slightest sign of wilting. That’s actually very impressive.”

“My grandparents taught me those techniques. When they were young, they worked as gardeners for a wealthy family and took care of all the flowers and plants in a huge estate.”

Then Qiao Zi changed the subject.

“Little Yu, we were talking bad about Jing Mocong, and now his fiancée knows about it. Do you think she’ll complain to him? That might affect you.”

Yan Yu sighed helplessly.

“We’ll just have to deal with it when the time comes. If Jing Mocong blames me, I’ll apologize.”

She had no better solution.

Who could have imagined they would be so unlucky?

They had merely gossiped about the richest man inside an ordinary little flower shop, only to be caught by his fiancée.

That afternoon, when the driver from Jingyuan Estate came to pick Yan Yu up, she deliberately studied his expression.

His brows were tightly furrowed, making him look as though he were in an extremely bad mood.

Yan Yu’s heart immediately began pounding.

“Uncle, why are you frowning today? Did something happen?”

“Doctor Yi’an, you’ll know once we arrive at Jingyuan Estate.”

The driver said nothing more and silently focused on driving.

Yan Yu grew increasingly uneasy.

She remained worried the entire journey until they finally reached Jingyuan Estate.

“Doctor Yi’an, yesterday we arranged the bedroom exactly according to your instructions, but not only did Old Madam fail to sleep well, she even had a headache all day…”

The nanny who personally cared for Old Madam Shi spoke anxiously.

Yan Yu’s heart tightened.

“Take me to the bedroom.”

Her arrangement shouldn’t have been wrong.

Even if Old Madam Shi had slept no better than usual, she shouldn’t have suffered a headache for an entire day.

Yan Yu walked around Old Madam Shi’s bedroom once, her expression gradually becoming solemn.

Everything inside had been arranged according to her instructions.

There was nothing wrong.

“Well? Have you figured out what the problem is?”

A cold, commanding male voice suddenly came from behind her.

Yan Yu had arrived carrying a guilty conscience.

The moment she heard Jing Mocong’s voice, every muscle in her body tensed.

She stiffly turned around to face him.

“What’s wrong with you? You don’t look well. Are you feeling sick?”

Jing Mocong strode toward her and stopped in front of her, his dark eyes gazing gently at her delicate face.

He wasn’t here to scold her.

He was actually concerned about her.

Yan Yu was momentarily stunned.

She shook her head.

“I’m fine. As soon as I arrived, your nanny told me Old Madam hadn’t slept well and had suffered a headache all day. I suspected the items in the room hadn’t been arranged according to my instructions, but after checking everything, it all looks correct. Logically speaking, Old Madam should’ve been perfectly fine.”

“What kind of doctor are you? You sound completely unprofessional. What do you mean she should’ve been fine? Old Madam’s headache is so severe that she can’t even sleep. She’s sitting outside under the eaves just to get some fresh air. She doesn’t even want to see you anymore! It’s all because of you, you quack!”

A young woman dressed in a tailored business suit stood angrily at the doorway, pointing at Yan Yu as she berated her.

Yan Yu turned toward her and remained silent.

Instead, Jing Mocong, standing beside Yan Yu, frowned.

“Who gave you permission to speak here?”

“Sir, she made Old Madam’s condition worse, yet you’re still protecting her? Just because she’s pretty, you’re going to side with her? Old Madam is your grandmother…”

“Enough. Get out!”

Jing Mocong roared.

He strode to the doorway and slammed the door shut with a loud bang.

The woman was left outside.

“Who was she?” Yan Yu asked, knitting her brows.

“She’s one of the maids at Jingyuan Estate. She’s worked here for years. I don’t know what’s gotten into her, but she actually dared interrupt you and me.”

Jing Mocong snorted coldly in annoyance.

Yan Yu found the last part of his sentence rather strange.

“Mr. Jing, there’s nothing wrong with my treatment plan.”

“I believe you.”

Jing Mocong’s tone was unwavering.

“You mentioned just now that you suspected the items in the room hadn’t actually been arranged according to your instructions. That’s entirely possible.”

About ten minutes later, Yan Yu suddenly shoved the bedroom door open.

“This is absolutely unreasonable! I’m leaving!”

Pouting angrily, she stormed downstairs and walked out, ignoring everyone’s attempts to stop her.

Inside the room, Jing Mocong roared furiously.

“That doctor has some nerve! Her treatment failed, yet she still insists there’s nothing wrong with it. What a quack!”

“I’m giving her one more chance. Tonight, arrange everything exactly as she instructed again. If Old Madam is still uncomfortable, I’ll make sure the name Yi’an disappears from the medical world!”

Late that night, after everyone in Jingyuan Estate had gone to sleep, a shadow quietly sneaked into Old Madam Shi’s bedroom.

The figure walked to the bedside and adjusted the aromatherapy diffuser on the nightstand to its strongest fragrance setting.

After finishing, the intruder turned to leave.

Unexpectedly, a large hand suddenly shot out from beneath the blanket and seized the person’s wrist.

The next second, the sound of cracking bones was followed by a scream of agony.

“It hurts…”

“Hurts? Hah. Compared to what my grandmother has been suffering, what does your little pain amount to?”

Jing Mocong threw back the blanket and got out of bed.

The overwhelming, murderous aura surrounding him made him resemble the King of Hell himself.

A few minutes later, everyone in Jingyuan Estate had been awakened and gathered in the living room.

Jing Mocong threw the captured culprit into the center of the room.

After questioning her, they finally learned that the maid had deliberately wanted Old Madam Shi to sleep poorly so that her health would deteriorate and she would die sooner.

Her name was Jiang Mi.

She was the niece of the estate’s head housekeeper.

After graduating from university, she had been unable to find a satisfactory job, so she had entered Jingyuan Estate as a maid through her aunt’s connections.

Two other girls, both a year younger than her, had started working at the estate at the same time.

Jiang Mi believed she had always worked diligently.

However, Old Madam Shi had a weakness for attractive faces and favored the other two maids, whose round, adorable faces made them especially likable.

When Old Madam Shi learned that the two girls lacked money to study abroad, she personally sponsored them.

After working at Jingyuan Estate for only two years following their university graduation, the two young women had gone overseas with Old Madam Shi’s help.

Because of this, Jiang Mi became consumed by jealousy and resentment.

She believed Old Madam Shi judged people solely by their appearance and had deliberately ignored her.
