“Out of the entire class, he’s the only boy! If anyone should leave, it should be him!”
“Exactly! What if he loses control one night and attacks us?”
“If he refuses to leave, then he should castrate himself first!”
At the entrance of the shelter, Lin Mao stared coldly at his former classmates, his expression dark.
Three days ago, every class in the world had been transported to another world.
A mysterious voice had warned everyone that if they wanted to survive, they needed to cooperate, gather resources, and search for shelter.
As the only male student in the class, Lin Mao naturally took on the responsibility of searching for supplies and scouting safe zones.
Not only for the class, but also for his own survival.
After finally finding a suitable shelter and helping everyone settle down, this was how they repaid him.
They wanted to throw him out.
Ridiculous.
Lin Mao had believed that four years of being classmates meant something.
But now, he realized he had underestimated human greed.
“Lin Mao, the shelter doesn’t have enough supplies,” Song Leyi said hypocritically while crossing her arms. “You’re a man, so you eat more than everyone else. This was the class’s decision. I hope you can understand.”
Before the transmigration, she had been the class monitor.
Even now, many students still listen to her commands.
Back in university, she always used her position to boss Lin Mao around. He had ignored her for years, and after the apocalypse began, he continued refusing to follow her orders.
Now she was clearly using him as an example to establish authority.
“The class’s decision?” Lin Mao sneered. “Or your decision?”
His gaze swept across the shelter.
Many students lowered their heads, unable to meet his eyes.
Several of them had once relied on his help.
Some had even been close friends.
Yet not a single person stepped forward to defend him.
“Hmph. Believe whatever you want,” Song Leyi replied coldly. “Since we were classmates, I’ll give you two choices. Leave the shelter… or sign this contract. Only then can the girls feel safe around you.”
She tossed a piece of paper onto the ground in front of him.
The contract listed more than ten rules.
He had to gather food every day.
Protect everyone.
He was forbidden from harming small animals.
He even had to massage their shoulders, serve tea, and wait on them like a servant.
This contract was created by the world itself.
Once signed, its effects were absolutely binding.
In other words, if he signed it, he would become their slave forever.
And in two days, the Blood Moon would rise.
Every zombie outside would enter a berserk state.
They knew he didn’t dare leave, so they were forcing him into signing this humiliating contract.
“Well?” Song Leyi said proudly. “This is already a generous deal considering the apocalypse.”
“A contract?” Lin Mao laughed angrily. “If you want to sell me into slavery, just say it directly.”
Without hesitation, he tore the contract into pieces.
“If you don’t want me here, then I’ll leave.”
“Leave?” Song Leyi narrowed her eyes. “Think carefully. The outside world is full of zombies.”
“I’d rather die to zombies than live with a bunch of ungrateful trash like you.”
With that, Lin Mao turned around and walked away without looking back.
Not long after he left, a girl timidly stepped beside Song Leyi.
“Class monitor… Lin Mao helped us a lot before this. Isn’t this too much?”
“What’s wrong with it?” Song Leyi scoffed. “Xiaorou, you’re too naive. He’s the only man here. If something happens later, it’ll be too late for regrets.”
“Exactly!”
“He should only be allowed back after signing the contract!”
“Don’t worry,” another girl said confidently. “There are zombies everywhere outside. He won’t last long. He’ll crawl back soon enough.”
Some of them were already discussing adding even more rules to the contract once he returned.
…
Meanwhile, Lin Mao climbed onto a large tree, panting heavily.
Two starving zombies circled beneath him.
Fortunately, the creatures had no intelligence.
They acted entirely on instinct and couldn’t even climb trees.
Under normal circumstances, with teammates distracting them, Lin Mao could easily kill them.
But now he was exhausted, starving, and unarmed.
He could only wait for the zombies to leave on their own.
“Damn it!”
He slammed his fist against the trunk, venting all the anger inside him.
All he wanted was to survive.
All he wanted was for the people around him to survive too.
So why has the world become like this?
【Ding!】
【Detected intense emotional fluctuation.】
【System unlocking…】
Lin Mao froze.
Then joy exploded across his face.
A system?!
It actually existed!
Moments ago, he had been considering returning to the shelter and dying together with everyone inside.
But now…
Everything had changed.
【Ding!】
【Binding successful.】
【Goddess Shelter System activated.】
【For every goddess recruited into the shelter, the host will receive divine talents and massive resources.】
【Evaluation criteria include appearance, physique, intelligence, experience, abilities, and talent. A score above 90 is required to qualify as a goddess.】
【Current shelter population: 1】
In this world, survival depended on two things above all else:
Food.
And people.
As long as he recruited goddesses into his shelter, he would gain endless resources.
And with resources came manpower.
Perhaps one day, he could even rebuild human civilization in this world.
Before he could fully celebrate, the system spoke again.
【Starter Pack received.】
【Peak Human Physique ×1】
【Emergency Food Pack ×4】
【Fire Axe ×1】
In an instant, his starving body recovered completely.
A massive fire axe appeared in his hands, perfectly balanced, as if it had been custom-made for him.
Without hesitation, Lin Mao jumped down from the tree.
The axe flashed.
One zombie’s head flew off instantly.
The second zombie lunged toward him.
Lin Mao kicked it backward and swung again.
Another clean kill.
The corpse collapsed to its knees before falling motionless to the ground.
Lin Mao looked down at the fire axe in amazement.
He could feel the overwhelming strength flowing through his body.
The current him could probably defeat ten versions of his old self.
As expected of a system reward.
Now there was only one problem left.
Where was he supposed to find goddesses?
There were several beautiful girls back at the shelter who could probably meet the system’s standards.
The question now wasn’t how he would survive.
It was how those people in the shelter planned to survive once he came back.
