Could it be that the beetle just now wasn’t mutated, but just an ordinary bug? And because it didn’t threaten human life, it didn’t award any Points?
She poked the beetle’s corpse with the detection needle: Ding! High Radiation Contamination. Not recommended for consumption.
As expected, this beetle was only contaminated by radiation and hadn’t mutated, which was why it didn’t award any points.
Leng Xuan had no choice but to continue her search. This time, she squatted on the ground, carefully poking around with a small wooden stick. Suddenly, she spotted a giant ant on a tree trunk.
This thing was two centimeters long, with two greenish-white fangs growing by its mouth. It looked completely unreal!
This ant must be a mutated ant, right? It must be harmful to humans, right?
Without hesitation, Leng Xuan kicked it, squashing the frozen ant flat!
“Ding! Congratulations, host, for successfully killing a mutated black ant. Points +2.”
Leng Xuan was overjoyed. So she really did have to kill mutated insects!
With two points in her account, her confidence was greatly boosted.
Moreover, as the 2 Points were registered, her light screen began to display the points required for exchangeable items.
Radiation Purification Potion: 65 Points per vial. One vial can purify 10% of the radiation level in an adult’s body.
Luck Value: 1 Point per point. Luck Value can increase the host’s probability of acquiring food or prey.
Escape talisman: 200 Points per talisman. After using this talisman, your running speed will always be slightly faster than your opponent’s (no matter what the opponent is).
After reading, Leng Xuan immediately thought of a use for these two points. She promptly exchanged the 2 points for 2 points of Luck Value.
Then she began searching for mutated insects. Sure enough, it wasn’t long before she saw a strange, large snail!
The snail was the size of a baby’s fist, currently covered in a layer of frost. It lay motionless on a huge burdock leaf, like an exquisite ornament!
Burdock.
Just as she was about to reach out and grab it, Leng Yi suddenly rushed over and slapped her hand away. “Big Sis, are you stupid? This snail is corrosive! You can’t grab it with your hands. Don’t you want your hand anymore?”
Leng Xuan shuddered in fright!
She was actually being called stupid by a lunkhead!
But it was a good thing her Second Brother had reminded her. Having just transmigrated here, she was indeed unfamiliar with the local flora and fauna!
Leng Xuan plucked the entire leaf and threw it on the ground, once again preparing to deal with the snail.
But Leng Yi pulled her, insisting they leave. “Go, let’s go quickly. Get away from this snail. This thing is dangerous.”
“Leng Yi, we can’t go. I have to kill this snail!”
Leng Yi looked at his foolish sister with astonishment. “Why would you kill it? It’s not even tasty.”
Leng Xuan’s mind raced. How on earth was she supposed to explain this to her brother?
A moment later, she gave up on the idea of explaining it clearly and decided to guide him based on his own understanding. “Little brother, since this snail is so dangerous, if we kill it, won’t there be one less danger in the world?”
Leng Yi nodded.
“Isn’t the principle of your Huashan Sect to perform chivalrous deeds? Eliminating a danger for the world is also a kind of chivalrous deed, isn’t it?”
Leng Yi nodded vigorously!
“Sis, you’re right!”
With that, he picked up a rock and was about to smash it toward the snail.
Leng Xuan abruptly pulled her brother back. “Let me, let me. We’re a team. You’ll be in charge of helping me find these dangerous bugs, and I’ll be in charge of killing them.”
She was afraid that if Leng Yi killed the snail, the system wouldn’t count the points for her.
Fortunately, Leng Yi was obedient. He handed the rock to Leng Xuan and trotted off to find more mutated bugs.
Leng Xuan lifted the ice-cold rock and, standing far away, smashed the acid-corrosion snail to bits. A viscous fluid splattered onto the leaves of a nearby tree, instantly corroding a large hole in them.
It seemed the acid of the acid-corrosion snail was effective against most plants and animals—except for burdock!
Leng Xuan silently filed this piece of knowledge away. In the future, to find acid-corrosion snails, she should look for burdock first.
“Ding! Congratulations, host, for successfully killing one acid-corrosion snail. 5 Points awarded.”
The corners of Leng Xuan’s mouth curled up slightly. Trading 2 points for 5—this was a good deal.
She would search some more. Maybe there were other acid-corrosion snails nearby.
Sure enough, a short while later, Leng Yi’s voice rang out from not far away. “Sis, Sis, come quick! I found several mutated ants!”
Leng Xuan hurried over and indeed saw a long line of mutated black ants. Each one had sharp fangs at the corners of its mouth, and each ant was carrying a piece of animal remains on its back.
It seemed that at the moment the temperature had plummeted, they hadn’t managed to hide in their nest in time and were thus frozen here!
Wasn’t this a huge stroke of luck?
She counted them—a total of six. Leng Xuan killed them one by one.
To be honest, killing such large insects was still quite difficult to accept psychologically. But since the environment had forced her into this situation, she could only slowly adapt.
Ding, ding, ding! Congratulations, host, for successfully killing 6 mutated black ants. 12 Points awarded.
She now had a total of 17 Points!
The sun gradually rose above the mountain range. The crystalline ice flowers on the blades of grass began to melt, and the frost on the small insects was also gradually thawing!
She had to speed up.
Once these bugs thawed out, the ones that could fly and the ones that could run would all show their skills. Catching them wouldn’t be so easy then!
Leng Xuan immediately spent 2 Points, once again exchanging them for 2 points of Luck Value.
She began searching again without stopping.
A quarter of an hour later, she found a huge burdock plant. She rushed over and searched it carefully from top to bottom, finally finding two acid-corrosion snails, one large and one small, between two overlapping leaves.
By now, the frost on the snails had already melted, and the two creatures were showing signs of slow movement.
Leng Xuan quickly eliminated them and carefully wrapped the two snail corpses in burdock leaves.
She wrapped them in several layers!
Then she put them in a small cloth pouch and placed it at the very top of her back basket. Acid-corrosion snails were very dangerous, but if used correctly, they could also become a powerful tool for hunting mutated bugs!
Ding! 10 Points credited to the system account.
The time was now 7 a.m. The sounds of birds and insects gradually filled the air. Searching for mutated insects at this time was a bit dangerous. If she were to be bitten, with her current physical condition, she would be a goner for sure!
Leng Xuan quickly planned out the use for her 25 points.
She took out 13 Points and purchased 0.2 portions of Purification Potion!
0.2 portions of Purification Potion could provide a 2% purification value. If all went as expected, her father would be able to stand up after drinking this potion.
The moment she clicked “purchase,” a small glass vial appeared in Leng Xuan’s palm. The transparent liquid inside should be the Purification Potion. This was great.
Mutated bugs weren’t everywhere, but they weren’t particularly difficult to find. In just over two hours, she could exchange her efforts for 0.2 portions of the precious potion. This was probably a blessing that no wastelander would even dare to dream of.
She had 12 Points left, all of which she exchanged for Luck Value.
After the exchange, Leng Xuan couldn’t wait to test the effectiveness of this Luck Value in finding food.
She casually stuck the detection needle into the topmost tender leaf of the burdock plant beside her.
Ding! Moderate Radiation Contamination. Can be consumed in appropriate amounts!
Leng Xuan was so happy the corners of her mouth nearly reached the heavens. Burdock was a wild vegetable that was both medicinal and edible. The entire plant could be eaten and had effects such as resolving phlegm, relieving coughs, and lubricating the intestines.
But right now, what Leng Xuan valued was its ability to alleviate hunger.
She excitedly plucked the large, one-square-meter leaf and put it in her backpack. Then she tested all the other leaves on the entire burdock plant, confirming that only this one leaf had moderate radiation.
