Chapter 14: The Calm Before the Storm

The World's Greatest Hero Is Actually a Villain?

"Alright now that everyone is here, time for the main agenda of today’s meeting."

"What do you all think of the federation’s superhero act, and have you heard of the organisation, Chimera Labs?"

Hearing these words from Cresent Moon, everyone fell silent as different thoughts raced through their minds.

Sentinel was still wondering if he should risk it and teach Solaris a lesson.

Gia seemed to be in her own world as she conjured all kinds of plants on her hands.

Solaris didn’t care as no matter what happened, he would just burn anything that stood in his way.

Only the more grounded and intellectual members of the league who had heard one or two rumors or investigated a bit reacted.

Because of that, they instantly frowned hearing those two names mentioned.

"I’ve heard of those names, in fact probably all should have, after all the Federation’s Superhero Act, or rather the new Superhuman Act, is something that could potentially affect all of us."

"According to the news from them, the purpose is to restrict the movement and usage of abilities by heros."

"Meaning if any of us want to stop crimes or use our abilities in public, we must have permission from the Federation."

"Also all superhero groups should also be under their control, and new groups cannot be formed without permission."

"Anyone found violating this law could potentially be branded with the villain label," said Lilith as she brought out her phone, showing a draft of the Superhuman Act.

"According to their logic, the destruction caused by heros in saving the day is sometimes on par, if not more than, what villains cause."

"The aim of this law is to safeguard the interest of both heros and regular citizens alike."

’Silence....’

As Lilith said this, everyone sat up, as they knew what this meant for them.

If such a law was passed, even though they were at the peak of the world in terms of strength, they knew they couldn’t outright refuse.

Unless they were willing to turn against a large portion of humanity, as the Federation controls that.

Realising this, everyone gradually became aware of the severity of the matter.

And Ethan, sitting with his arms crossed, did not make any comments as he instead fixed his attention on all the heroes in front of him, trying to see their emotions.

From the plot of the original story, he knew already that some heros did not like the Federation and were willing to wipe them out.

However, because of the cause that would result from that and the fact that other heros were against it, they held back.

Now Ethan was trying to detect these heros, as since he was already destined to go against the Federation, he might as well get some allies.

With this in mind, Ethan decided to add fuel to the fire.

"Haha! Indeed everything Lilith said here is true."

"In fact, they’ve already made their moves. As you all know, my city was attacked by these weird fusion-like monsters." He paused.

"Well after interrogating a spy on the scene, according to him, the monsters were sent by the Federation to cause casualties and destruction so people would have faith in the Federation Act rather than their heros."

"To be honest, I’m quite surprised those old heads back there could think of something this cunning."

"My props to them!"

’click!’

Tapping a button on the table in between them, Ethan enlarged a projection which showed the current state of the city and the monsters fighting.

"Thank you both, Lilith and Imperion, you are correct, however that’s not all to it!" said Cresent Moon as he gave them both a nod.

"Back in my city, Noctis, I’ve also had to cut off a few of the Federation’s paws."

"I wouldn’t be too surprised if right now, as this meeting is being held, they’ve launched another attack on each of your citie-!"

’Boom!’

Right before he could complete his words, the whole room erupted in an extremely strong aura.

’Boom!’

’Boom!’

’Boom!’

"My city? How dare they! If they dare stretch their fingers, I’ll burn down their headquarters myself!"

Frowning angrily, Solaris, who had been quiet since Cresent Moon started talking, was extremely angry.

To each hero, a city was where their loved ones stayed, it’s where their home base was.

It was their territory, where they protected and cherished; now someone planned to ruin it all?

Even if it was the Federation, none of the heroes planned to back off.

As even right now, a few heros were already itching to move.

Sentinel no longer smoked a cigarette as his eyes became deep and scary.

Gia’s eyes gold and her hair into skin.

Leviathan gripped his trident tightly, ready to flood the mainland if they tried anything.

And all other heros each expressed their anger in one way or another as they heard Cresent Moon say that.

Fortunately, he had already expected such a situation and continued to explain.

"Truly it seems it’s time to deal with the Federation as a whole, before they become too arrogant."

"At least that’s what I thought, until I found out what gave them the confidence to be so arrogant."

"And it was none other than two things, the villains and Chimed Labs," he paused.

Pointing to a monster on the hologram, he began to explain.

"Chimed Labs are the people behind these abominations, where they forcefully fuse superhumans together to form the ultimate creators, or so their motto is."

"I’ve also discovered that behind Chimed Labs, there’s a group of villains who have been targeting all superhuman individuals, be it hero or villain."

"At first I thought it was for their lab experiments, but I found something else."

"These group of villains, they seem to have the ability to extract god particles from a living being!"

’Boom!’

As soon as he said this sentence, everyone in the room went silent; they couldn’t believe their ears.

In all the years that the god particles existed, there has never been a case of extracting someone’s particles.

If someone did that, that meant...

"Hey moony, are you serious about what you’re saying?"

"They have the ability to make us lose our powers?"

Opening his eyes, a member who had not said one word before suddenly spoke.

S class hero, Tempest the Storm Chaser!
