Chapter 20: I’m the strongest!

The World's Greatest Hero Is Actually a Villain?

"If you say everyone is a hero, do you know some heroes are actually worse than villains?"

As soon as these words were said, all heads were turned, as the injury-ridden reporter became the center of attention.

However, despite this, Danny’s movements did not falter as, after gaining everyone a quick glance, his eyes focused straight on Lilith, revealing unconcealed killing intent.

"Do you know some heroes are worse than villains?"

"Under the guise of protecting the common people, all they do is seek fame and power."

"Or that some heroes see the value of human life as next to none as they can easily kill anyone who gets in their way?"

"Life was not created by heroes, so why do they have the right to take it away?"

"Or do you see yourself as a God, considering all the power you possess?"

Asking this question, Danny’s bones ached.

He didn’t care what happened to him, but he wanted to expose Imperion and Lilith for the frauds they are.

Back when the invasion happened, he had seen directly as Imperion stood motionless as the monster launched attacks to the ground, taking many lives with it.

In the abandoned building, he was mercilessly thrown from the top of the building down to the ground.

Had he not landed on a car and cushioned his fall, instead of having multiple broken bones, he would have been dead!

Thinking of all this, and his original reason for being at the battle site, his hatred for heroes grew.

’Imperion! Just you wait! I won’t rest until you fall from your high altar!"

’Not just you, but all heroes!’

As he thought of these words, Danny’s facial expression in the outside world contorted as he could hardly hold back.

Even the reporters beside him began to wonder where this mad man was from and why he was so blatantly provoking Imperion.

As even if they wanted some juicy scoops, they would have gone about it more subtly, not glaring so openly.

And Martha, the lady who had just gotten her answer, looked at Danny’s outrage, the frowning Lilith, and smiling Imperion with a twinkle in her eyes.

She wanted to see how the man before her would deal with such a situation.

Fortunately, Imperion did not disappoint.

Looking at the angry Danny in front of him, he recalled the excited news caster who anchored the live broadcast of Imperion’s final battle.

Although seeing him like this, in a full cast, was a surprise, however since he was here, He decided to give him a bit of a ’reader’s’ surprise.

"Danny Duffield is it?, well I’ll answer your question."

"Do I know some heroes are actually worse than villains?"

"And do I think myself as God?"

"Well I’ll start by answering your last question, if I think myself as a god!"

Putting on a solemn expression, Ethan scanned the crowd.

"Everyone here? Think to yourself, what is God?"

"Some say God is someone who loves the world, unconditionally."

"And to that I say, I love this world unconditionally and will fight for a new day every day!"

"Some will say, that God is someone who answers the prayers of those in need!"

"And I will say I do answer the prayers of those in need, be it the homeless as Nexus provides homes for the homeless."

"I provide jobs for the jobless."

"I provide healthcare for the sick."

"And even if you say God is someone who protects the weak and saves people from evil!"

"All the things that I do every day."

"So to that Mr Danny, I would like to answer your question!"

"Yes I am God, however unlike the God in most religions."

"When you pray to me I will answer!"

Instantly, as Imperion finished those words, everyone was stunned.

Everyone around him, including Lilith, expected him to say the opposite, maybe say that heroes are the same as regular people just like he said all people were heroes.

Danny even planned to use that to argue back and the privileges heroes had and trap Imperion in a corner.

However what Ethan said was completely against the script!

Not only did he not deny it, but actively said he was God.

And to make things worse, his words made sense, as, hearing everything, not even Danny could argue against what he said.

But Ethan wasn’t yet done, noticing everyone’s shock, he decided to use this opportunity to end this interview with a high note.

"And as for your last question, do I know some heroes are actually worse than villains?"

"Yes, and I won’t deny it!" He paused.

"Heroes, regardless of how strong or influential they are, fundamentally are all humans like you and I."

"We sleep, we cry, we hate and we love."

"And sometimes heroes get greedy, lost in the pursuit of false strength and status."

"They sometimes even develop floating mentalities and believe they are on top of the world."

"All this is true!"

Giving them some time to digest his words, Ethan paused before continuing.

"You’re right, some heroes are indeed worse than villains."

"Because someone is wearing a cape, that doesn’t mean they’re a hero."

"Actions do!"

"So if you ever know of such a hero, and not just you but everyone in the world!"

"Then expose them!"

"Even if that hero is me!"

Giving those words, he took a deep glance at Danny before holding on to Lilith’s hands.

"Alright, that concludes the interview for today, I thank the reporters who came here for their time."

"And next time we meet I hope there’s more good news to talk about and not so many bad things much like today."

"Remember this everyone."

"Be it Nexus, Elisyum, or even I."

"We will continue to be the force of good, that ensures our society continues to progress!"

"And nothing! Be it any villain or rat hiding in the darkness will stop it."

"Because even if there are so many lies in the world, there is one undeniable truth!"

Turning again to look at the reporters, a wide grin appeared on Imperion’s face as Ethan said his signature line.

"And that is! That I’m the strongest!"
